Sincere condolences. "Healthy and active until suddenly not" is how I hope to go, so I envy him that. But my old man's been gone >30 years and I still wish I could ask his advice sometimes. That never goes away.

For sure. My grandfather died at 92 after walking 9 holes of golf in the morning while taking an afternoon nap. Apparently a blood clot cut loose and killed him in his sleep. I hope my end comes as well as his did.

My condolences too Meal. My Mom died a month ago very suddenly but she had Alzheimer's. She was 86.

Hits different because I lost my Mom years ago to the disease then this sudden death. I had not been able to see her for 3 weeks before because I had COVID and was trying to protect her

Last May she had fallen and broke her hip. Never recovered to walk again so she was bed ridden, wearing diapers and just no quality of life which I know she would have been appalled about in her pre-dementia.

Passing quickly and peacefully while she was sleeping was the best we could hope for.

So sorry for your loss Neal. I'm dreading the day that I have to deal with it, so I can only imagine how hard this is for you.

WYBaugh, I'm so sorry to hear about your family having to go through that struggle. At least she is finally at peace.

Sorry about your mom WYBaugh. Lost mine to smoking at 56 or 57 in 1993. Just 2 years older than I am now.

Thank you for sharing WyBaugh. I'm sorry for your loss and how it came about. Absolutely not a derailment.

The day of my father's passing I went into work. I had a significant test that day and there was literally nothing else I could be doing with my time. I felt sharp enough (and I was) so I went through with it. It's rare for me (like one day a month rare) to work alongside someone else, but that coincides with the significant tests. The engineer I was working with gave me a heavy dose of (similar) perspective that morning. He had just made it through the two year anniversary of his mother's passing and she spent seven years dying with Alzheimer's. Absolutely heartwrenching.

I’m so sorry to hear of both your losses.

My father is 87 and I panic if I call and he doesn’t pick up. I’m going to be a wreck when he passes. But he lives his life on his own terms, refusing to even entertain the thought of moving to a nursing home or even a retirement community. I’ve decided at his age, he’s earned the right to live exactly the way he wants, even if I worry every day.

Sorry guys about your losses. I have my dads wristwatch on my shelf that he wore every day, now I think of him each day I see it. I wish we had a better relationship than we did but he was more important to me than he ever knew.

I feel the same way with my mom now who is turning 78 next week. She deserves to live her life as free as she wants doing what she likes. After losing her daughter and her husband of 55 years, It is my job now to worry about her every day and make sure she’s as happy as she made us as a family with the little we had. The reaper is in rare form these days. I already posted about Buddy, two weeks ago. Last week the man that gave me my first IT job passed away, and I was unable to attend because we were already committed to another funeral...my wife's friend's BIL. found dead at home several days after last seen alive at 59. Yesterday, I found out someone I knew from high school had passed away...62 years old. She suffered dementia her final years. She was a senior when I was a freshman in high school band...years later, I was dating her cousin when we went (along with dead person's brother, who played bass in a band I was in back in high school), to visit her in downstate IL, where she worked at Marion state prison, location of death row when we had such a thing. She was a psychiatrist, and among her patients was John Wayne Gacy. We took her to work one day, and she pointed out a mesa (I never knew such formations existed in IL), that was only accessible by helicopter and was the location of death row and Gacy's home at the time.

My ex touched base on FB a few years ago, and told me her cousin had severe health issues, and she was largely caring for her. She's the one who notified me of her cousin's passing.

That's interesting - I thought, medically speaking, that aneurysms could cause certain types of strokes - not the other way around. But I suppose anything is possible. (or I'm mistaken )

That specific information seems to be from his manager, not his doctor, so I'd take the cause-and-effect with a grain of salt.

Mr. Sizemore died in his sleep after suffering a brain aneurysm Feb. 18, which occurred as a result of a stroke, Charles Lago, his manager, said.
