Caleb Williams is a really good QB, but holy crap does he have some NFL learning to do.

Some of the choices he's made today have been short of wise. To be expected, so I'm not going to put too much concern into it yet. yet.

Pretty sure the Bears' role in the NFL is to just make other teams feel good.

Until the Bears decide to field a functional offensive line, I fear he'll never have the opportunity to learn.

27-3 up over the Jags, and Damar Hamlin's first career interception. One heck of a first half for the Bills.

Give him 3 years. At that point, he'll be dumped for a 6th round draft pick.

He's still made bad decisions even when he's had the time. The biggest knock on him was slow reaction times -- slower vs. college competition than Fields was vs. NFL competition (and that was a big knock against him). He had an open receiver on a deep ball last week with no real pressure and missed him by 10 yards. He needs to suck a lot less in those situations.

That said, the magnificent 85 Bears didn't really start coming together until they burned a 1st round draft pick on Jimbo Covert in '83. A HoF stud would do wonders for the team.

He's played 3 freakin' NFL games, had no time on the bench to absorb the game, and his veteran QB mentor is Tyson Bagent. If you think he shouldn't be making mistakes at this point in his career, then you're being unrealistic. Even if he's getting time on a handful of plays, he's going to be wondering if he's about to clobbered on his blind side given how all of the other plays go. This is all not exactly conducive to a rookie QB playing well or learning how to play well.

I heard he dissed CJ Stroud when offered some advice. That's not good. Stroud is the reigning rookie of the year, and so far it seems last year he greatly out-performed our "generational talent."

Not really. I mean - CJ Stroud (being all of 'rookie' status, after all) told him he'd be big in the NFL some day. Caleb's head was in a different place and he didn't 'diss' CJ Stroud - he was just kinda like "uh, yeah - right, thanks". I think if that had come from Mahomes or someone a little more established, he'd have responded a little better - but he didn't diss CJ Stroud, he just didn't find what CJ had to say particularly uplifting after his first NFL loss. Also, kinda comes across as a "I would know, as I've made it in the NFL" comment, and I think that was a little offputting. BTW, I think CJ Stroud is a good guy and ment nothing but 'good' from this, and it was a bit of a shame that Caleb wasn't in a frame of mind to take it in and be more gracious about it all. His words were kinda lame... I think something like "Hey man, the first few games are brutal - you were amazing." would have been easier for Caleb to take in.

I actually don't, there were so many inexcusable missed tackle plays. GAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Well that was a short-lived "QB change honeymoon". :( Beaten by the fucking Bengals.

Although you could easily make the argument that the Panthers were beaten by the fucking Panthers.

Holy cow, Lions - what a game.
Grats.

If LM watch all of that, someone should check on him.

Unbeleivable. And I'm pretty sure at 2:01 left in the game, we could hear the sound of 70k people experiencing PTSD as a group.

I fell asleep before it was over early in 2nd half. I should have gone out to watch the game, as was my plan. It would have kept me up. We were OK when I was watching, though our defense was sometimes frustrating. I was happy to see the performance against Seattle that I saw. They've kinda been a thorn. Not like a Dallas screw you this is BS thing, but a thorn just the same. I felt it was going to fall apart right until the half. I must have been OK after that because I fell asleep easily enough. ;) St Brown (who should have been mine) screwed my FF week but I'm doing horribly anyway and I'd rather the Leos win than pretend at bragging rights for getting my picks in FF.

Goff threw a perfect game - not one incomplete throw. He also handed the ball off and ran into the end-zone to receive a TD catch. Truly a great Lions game.

Then again, Davis III and Arnold both just cannot help themselves with pass interference. And Davis III thinks that the field judge can be yelled at enough to make them change their mind on a call. Fucking idiot.

True - they didn't hold back either.

My wife was going nuts when it took two separate Davis' teammates to yell and shove at him to stop getting in the judge's face.

Wow, that Buc/Falcons game was really a great watch.

Fantastic come-back by the Falcons (although, the refs did blow a Bucs call at a critical point - but that happens)

Cleveland QB was the highest, and certainly is one of the most compensated, since they gaurenteed all of his contract. And he has not played a complete season, nor has he ever(according to the local radio host) thrown a 200 yard game. The loss today was his 17th game with the Browns, and it just shows that hiring low character people is not the best way to go. Almost stopped being a fan when they traded for him, and now, I just laugh at the team I used to like. Sigh.. Sports is really losing any appeal to me.

At this rate of game-over-game improvement, Caleb Williams could be ready for the Hall of Fame by the end of the year! I'm sure it will be smooth sailing from here on out . . . .

You know how I always want Dallas to lose... You know how I especially want Dallas to lose when they are playing the Lions? Well, when I hear the "Let's go Brandon" chants in the crowd, I really, really want Dallas to lose. So enough with the defensive holding guys. This is becoming a defining characteristic of your play and I do not approve.

Edit: The chant is now "Let's go Lions." I approve of the change.

Edit: Even letting the field goal happen, I have to say that was very satisfying first half.

Edit: And as local as it gets for me, Hutch goes down. No longer satisfying.
