Is anyone else getting a little frustrated?

I am guessing that itaiyo is going to give us yet another glorious 24-hour lag in our game play. (Thanks itaiyo, I’m sure we all appreciate it.) I think gbasden is only on his first TIME OUT, so well need to wait another 24 hours to see if he’s actually AWAY or not.

Could you guys please use the ‘AWAY’ status if you think you are not going to be able to check the forums for a couple of days? It’d be greatly appreciated.

itaiyo's second TIMEOUT in a row has now changed his status to AWAY.

gbasden did give me instructions as to how to play his hand, but I hadn't logged in during itaiyo's 24-hour period, and so couldn't take action for gbasden. And as it turned out, he didn't give me the contingency required to handle his current action, so we're waiting for him to correct his check.

009387 Crux
009743 Captain Caveman [button]
009229 itaiyo [SB]
009921 gbasden [BB] (ONE TIMEOUT)

Preflop action:
9 players ante 8 each (pot: 72)
itaiyo (9204) in SB for 17 (pot: 89)
gbasden (9879) in BB for 34 {ONE TIMEOUT} (pot: 123)
ScubaV (7381) folds
Jeff V (10691) calls 34 (pot: 157)
Papa Smurph (13403) calls 34 (pot: 191)
SpaceLord (9340) calls 34 (pot: 225)
Unagi (10729) calls 34 (pot: 259)
Crux (9229) raises to 150 (pot: 409)
Captain Caveman (9734) folds
itaiyo (9204) folds {SECOND TIMEOUT -- NOW AWAY}
gbasden (9763) calls 150 (pot: 525)

ACTION ON Jeff V (10691)

gbasden, you didn't indicate whether you sent Jeff a PM. I'm doing so now, but in the future please don't make me guess.

The difference between checking and calling is that "check" is shorthand for "I'll call a bet of zero (or no bet, if I'm first to act)." Call is what you do to match any bet in front of you if you want to continue in the hand for the cheapest amount possible.

Actually, I think he said (originally) that he did PM Jeff V.
(back with his Check).

And, I like to think of Check vs Call like this.

Each betting round starts with the lead player and his option to place a bet. That player can 'pass' on betting (Check) and the right to start betting passes to the next player. Again, that player can 'Check' and shift the right to start betting to the next player, etc. Everyone can 'Check' and in that case, no one wants to bet.

Once any bet has been place (including the Small/Big Blind's automatic 'bet' in the first 'round of betting'), the other players options are 1) Fold, 2) Call the current bet , or 3) Raise the bet further.

So basically, it's simple. Ask - has anyone made a bet this round? If so, 'Check' is no longer an option.

I guess I would say that 'Check' is shorthand for "Check and see if someone else wants to start betting".

I tried all evening last night to get on the boards. They wouldn't load on the computers at work or at home, so I timed out again. Sorry I don't live on my computer like Unagi. So how about this:

Action: All in blind pre-flop until I announce that I'm back.

How about that? Meal will you please put this action into effect for me. (I'll PM you also)

I must apologies itaiyo. I honestly didn't even consider the fact that you didn't live on your computer like I do. Sometimes I just make the mistake of thinking everyone lives on their computer like I do.

Just to be fair, it wouldn't have mattered if you had gotten onto OO last night, you timed-out earlier in the day. Also, I don’t fault you for having a time-out every now and then; I only single you out because you’ve had 3 time-outs and one 22-hour delay in your last 5 turns. If you feel you need to lash out with ‘all-in blind pre-flops’ as a punishment to my singling you out, I guess that’s your call.

Anyhow, please forgive my frustration.

An interesting take on things. As was pointed out, you timed out before the boards were taken down the evening before. This is hardly your only timeout, however, between the MTT and the SNG. Are you going to stick by your guns that the problem here is Unagi's insistence that this table isn't flowing like the other tables? Because from where I'm sitting, that's *far* from what's wrong here.

I have little desire to deal with any manufactured drama. If you want out from the MTT, I'll be happy to put your chips up to another interested party. It's fairly clear that your schedule doesn't allow you to hit OO with the regularity that other participants in the MTT appreciate (or deserve, IMO). That being said, liberal use of the AWAY feature could help mitigate your scheduling issues.

Until this table sees otherwise, you continued to be set to AWAY.
