I often aspirate in my sleep. When I wake up coughing and gagging, nothing settles it down but getting up and walking to get a glass of water and taking small sip while being in the upright position seems to help a little. Last night when I woke in a aspiration induced coughing fit, I went on got a glass of water and lied down and taking a few sips half way to being in the upright position. Not paying attention, I fell asleep in that postion with water still in hand for about two hours before I moved to recline to normal sleeping position, I guess. I awoke in a splash to my hand still holding an offending glass of water dumped onto myself and my soaking bed.

Idiot.

Concert going must be getting hurt badly. They've been doing "no fee" Wednesdays all summer and now they are doing "all in" seating, where they are just dropping a lot of ticket prices to $24.99. Suddenly many of these mainstream artists that I'd never bother to see become possabilities.

Bands I might break down and see for $25 with no service fee:

Coldplay, Aerosmith, Def Leppard w/Poison & Cheap Trick, 311, The Allman Brothers Band, Crosby Stills & Nash, Depeche Mode, Kid Rock & Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Killers, No Doubt, Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Tour ft. Marilyn Manson & Slayer, Van's Warped Tour

I might have to put out some feelers to see if anyone is interested in any of those bands and if the timing is good for any of them.

The only uck is that every one of those shows is for lawn seating at an outdoor venue and I am generally pretty well past that stage in my life.

Um. What's the name of the word for things not being the same always. You know. I'm sure there is one. Isn't there? There must be a word for it... the thing that lets you know that time is happening.

Anna Friel is very very sexy. I may have to go buy Pushing Daisies just to have an excuse to watch her more. The fact that I have heard good things about the show here just makes it that much more likely.

I am way hot on Anna Faris. Does that count? I even gave half a thought to seeing that hugely over hyped House Mom flick for a few minutes before figuring it'd be on Comedy Central in a few weeks after the theatre release anyway.

Do not give in to the urge to watch her on the big screen and go see Land of the Lost. :ninja:

What sort of odd genetic testing/mutation has generated a gilled chicken? And how the hell did this get past the FDA?

Find one big enough to hold you in any position you would want to get into. A big Lazy Boy worked for me when I broke my leg.

So I just got back from a few minutes of light reading. The magazine ju jour was the April 2009 edition of Sceintific American, where on the cover it boasts the question "Is Dark Energy Real?" That was good enough to catch my attention for the few minutes I'd have to peruse the magazine.

The article started of by going over some of Copernicus' assumptions and how they may be throwing us off. The big assumption is the Earth is not special... One moment while I google...

Here we go...

http://news.softpedia.com/news/A-Specia ... 5433.shtml" target="_blank

...Actually it's the same sort of article from a year ago...
The problem is that some five centuries ago, astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus said that the Earth was by no means a special place in the universe
That statement and assumption seem odd to me. That assuming that the Earth is by not means a special place in the universe don't you naturally close doors on investigation?

If you search for the least special number on 2d6, you'd end up with the number 7. To be the least special is to be 7 and yet if you rolled 7s even 20 times in row you'd be pretty damned special situation of nonspecialness.

While an interesting warning assuming the earth is not special is going to statistically keep you from finding an answer about the universe you are looking for, isn't it? Aren't you bound to base hit a point where the earth does happen to be special and you blow your entire set of observations because you assumed it wasn't?

Looking for what makes stuff special is kinda what it's all about isn't it? If we didn't observe special stuff about black holes then why would be fascinated by them? So now I'm befuddled, bewildered, befogged, confounded and confused. Oh, and vacuated and voided. I feel much better, thank you.

Not special is a starting point when making observations. It forces you to make appropriate simplifying assumptions. If you take enough data, you're still allowed to conclude that the situation under investigation turned out to be a special case. But starting from that assumption is somewhat counterproductive.

You know when you are really tired and start to doze off but you don't actually doze off but rather just go through the motions of almost falling asleep? And you get the not quite bed spinny feel of not quite being high? Since Thursday (I think), that falling asleep, spinny, not quite dizzy, not quite high feeling happens to my head just about every time I turn it. I'm not sure if this is cool or something I should be worried about.
I've come to the conclusion that this is from my taking myself off my headmeds. I've had too many anomolies with body start since I've been on them. That and I've since read that dizzyness, etc... is associated with "antidepressant discontinuation syndrome" (I guess that's the nice way of saying withdrawl from an adictive substance). Anyhoo, I've had this shit going on for like two weeks or more and I'm pretty certain I don't like it and won't be going back on headmeds. I can't find information on how long "antidepressant discontinuation syndrome" is likely to last on someone for which they didn't really do much for someone being on them just shy of a year.

Look up the withdrawal effects from your particular drug. Zoloft has a very short halflife in your body -- you start getting withdrawal after 48 hours or so. For me it was a jangling electrical-shock kind of feeling - just these weird short-circuits that lasted a fraction of a second, brought on by any motion that jarred my spine (like stepping off a curb). I guess it took a month for those to pass. Wellbutrin, OTOH, has a halflife of several days -- you can take short "drug vacations" without ill effect and it fades out more gently. You really ought to taper these drugs off instead of quitting cold, if it's not too late for that.

They had me on small doses of Wellbutrin twice daily for about 6 months and larger doses of Celexa once a day for about 6 months which replaced a large dose of Zoloft for about 3 months which replaced a small dose of Zoloft for about 3 months.

I know I should have tapered them slowly but at the very least I am sick of wasted tired and drenched in sweat on sub 70 degree days. While mother's little helpers were supposed to relieve stress and anxiety, a year of experimentation with these drugs hasn't done any of that. Seeing the doctor again to change things up, would have done just that. "Well this isn't working, let's try something else."
