Getting the sweetest deals on the sweetest games is pretty sweet indeed. But when you have a breathtaking variety to choose from, how do you even find the game that's just meant to be yours, without digging for way too long? GOG's new promo pages will be your answer to that!

Daggerfall Unity is a port/remake of Daggerfall using the Unity engine. As far as I know it's always been free, but having it as a free game on GOG saves the hassle of setting it up yourself.

How to have the best Daggerfall experience in 2022
Our definitive step-by-step guide to setting up and playing this classic Elder Scrolls game.

Despite being a multiplatform hit, Bethesda's Elder Scrolls series is rightly considered a cornerstone of PC gaming. Sprawling open-world RPGs built for freedom of choice, full of expressive systems of play and intricate character customization. No two players have the exact same experience, and everyone has stories to tell.

However, it wasn't until Morrowind that modding became a key feature. The earlier, less customizable games have been left to languish, frozen in DOS-emulated time. Rough and clunky, Daggerfall in particular was a game of seemingly boundless ambition and scale (including the largest world map in the series by far), but held back by bugs, broken systems and DOS-era limitations that were only slightly mitigated by valiant fan-patching efforts.

Until now.

Thanks to the herculean efforts of independent developer Gavin 'Interkarma' Clayton (opens in new tab), Daggerfall has been fully reverse-engineered and ported to the Unity engine. While there's still the occasional rough edge, it's already more polished, stable and playable than the DOS version ever was, packed with quality-of-life improvements and fixes for ancient bugs. Even better, it’s hugely moddable, and new user-made content for it pops up every day.

Now is the best time to play The Elder Scrolls Chapter 2: Daggerfall, and it won't cost you a penny. Let's get cracking.

Jesus said, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body."[Matt 10:28] God can totally destroy us.

Jesus also said, "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”[John 6:40] Eternal life is conditional.

His disciple John wrote, "Whoever has the Son has eternal life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have eternal life. [1 John 5:12] Eternal life is optional.

they are going way over on the sales it seems. I see Hitman Blood Money for 99 cents right now on the front page. I already own it or I would snatch that quick.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is just $4.49 geez.

All the HOMMs (Complete) are still on sale, from $2.49.

If you plant to go back to this, check out the HD mods (or just play V, since it’s essentially III with updated graphics (though the ART is not as good maybe).

I think I will give IV one more shot. Always loved that one, even though it was pretty much reviled for not being ‘III enough’ when it came out (and also had some legit AI and balance issues). But the music was…maybe the best I’ve ever heard in a game.

I really only dabbled in them . So couldn't say whats best or worst. I tried them because I loved Kings Bounty on th Sega Genesis back around 1992 or so. Really fun. They are basically it just more complicated. Guess Im not a fan of over complication added to games I loved. I do own the newer Kings Bounty and I think its addon Armoured Princess. Barely touched it. Sigh. I hate that I lost my turn based love. Was my favorite way to play years ago. I cant even replay Fallout 1 & 2 now and Ive replayed them at least 6 or 7 times before.

I want to like the GOG games, but a lot of those games are hard to get back into after being spoiled with proper 1080p graphics for years.

And that's after owning more than a dozen games from GOG. Recently I tried to get back into Mission Force Cyberstorm. It's a PAIN as you just miss stuff like mouse wheel zoom (which requires a bit of macro-ing to "fix")

And I can't get into Elite Force 2. Its timers felt REALLY frustrating.

I have several of the HOMM including the Chronicles. I am on the fence between HOMM II vs III. I sort of agree that HOMM III has a few too many factions and they start to feel homogenized.

It's not that it wasn't III enough, it had a horrible UI, AI, and IIRC the RMG came very late and was faux RMG. The layout was essentially the same (and small) every time with variances on the stuff in it. So it didn't live up to the things that III great. It just had nothing worth making it playing after the campaign and the campaign was boring because there was main character two spell combo loop, I forget which. Some sort of mass damage, mass heal lock, I believe.

I had a hankering for a production line colony building game so I picked up another copy of Imperialism II for $1.4x. The UI of a game from the 90s is brutal. No keyboard directional hotkeys among other things you just do but still, once you get past that and lower your graphics expectation floor, it is scratching the itch, and definitely doing it for me for another buck and half to make playable on 10.
