Re: The Biden Presidency Thread

Before Biden can move in though they're going to have to drag Trump out of there. Might have to spray and put down giant traps baited with money. A $5 bill should work.
That is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons bring us some web forums whereupon we can gather

I think it'd prolly work on me too. I'm broke. Although you'd at least have to throw me a ten to get me to ignore the obvious signs of it being,,, well a big trap.Daehawk wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 11:59 am Before Biden can move in though they're going to have to drag Trump out of there. That's exactly what I thought too!Daehawk wrote: Sun Nov 22, 2020 11:27 pm When I saw Biden will most likely pick Blinken to be his Sec of State I thought Blinkin

Antony J. Blinken, a defender of global alliances and President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s closest foreign policy adviser, is expected to be nominated for secretary of state, a job in which he will try to coalesce skeptical international partners into a new competition with China, according to people close to the process.
Mr. Blinken, 58, a former deputy secretary of state under President Barack Obama, began his career at the State Department during the Clinton administration. His extensive foreign policy credentials are expected to help calm American diplomats and global leaders alike after four years of the Trump administration’s ricocheting strategies and nationalist swaggering.
Mr. Biden is also expected to name another close aide, Jake Sullivan, as national security adviser, according to a person familiar with the process. Mr. Sullivan, 43, succeeded Mr. Blinken as Vice President Biden’s national security adviser, and served as the head of policy planning at the State Department under Hillary Clinton, becoming her closest strategic adviser.
Together, Mr. Blinken and Mr. Sullivan, good friends with a common worldview, have become Mr. Biden’s brain trust and often his voice on foreign policy matters. And they led the attack on President Trump’s use of “America First” as a guiding principle, saying it only isolated the United States and created opportunities and vacuums for its adversaries.
2021 is looking like a year of boring competence in government & sound sleep. I can’t wait.
Don't get too excited. What do you think the odds are of a government shutdown or debt ceiling crisis in 2021 / 2022 if McConnell is still majority leader? 80%?Skinypupy wrote: Tue Nov 24, 2020 10:16 am I've seen a number of sentiments like this expressed, and I could not agree more.

Just when you're ready for a nice peaceful year, more bad shit happens. Like a global geopolitical or environmental catastrophe. I'm thinking large armed conflict somewhere with NBC threats.Skinypupy wrote: Tue Nov 24, 2020 10:16 am I've seen a number of sentiments like this expressed, and I could not agree more.

There will obviously be crises, likely more than usual in the next couple years. There always are.El Guapo wrote: Tue Nov 24, 2020 11:30 amDon't get too excited. But at least we won’t have the Orange Shitgibbon constantly throwing gasoline on the fire as we try and work through them.

Sen. Marco Rubio suggested on Tuesday that he would oppose confirmation of President-elect Joe Biden's national security team, presaging the first sign of potential Senate battles to come if Republicans maintain control of the Senate.
“Biden’s cabinet picks went to Ivy League schools, have strong resumes, attend all the right conferences & will be polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline,” he tweeted. “I support American greatness. And I have no interest in returning to the ‘normal’ that left us dependent on China.”

If I remember correctly, the POTUS doesn't need Congressional approval, he can just assign temporary staff, leave vacancies, and then forget about approvals. Wasn't that established in 2016?Skinypupy wrote: Tue Nov 24, 2020 1:54 pm Rubio: "How dare Biden nominate competent professionals with qualified backgrounds! THE CHAOS GODS DEMAND CHAOS!!"

Any bets as to how long it takes Rubio to complaint that the Biden administration is being too aggressive and changing too much and marching us toward "socialism" as part of their role as "polite and orderly caretakers".Rubio (R-Fla.) said Biden’s selections “will be polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline,”
Ohh oh oh, can I throw Meadows, Nunes, and McConnell on this pile of fantasy? Please!?!Smoove_B wrote: Tue Nov 24, 2020 4:08 pmAny bets as to how long it takes Rubio to complaint that the Biden administration is being too aggressive and changing too much and marching us toward "socialism" as part of their role as "polite and orderly caretakers".Rubio (R-Fla.) said Biden’s selections “will be polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline,”
I look forward to a world where I never need to hear about people like Rubio or Cruz ever again. I hope it happens soon.
Copy that. Rubio is just a spineless blob floating down the river collecting fish at this point. He is unrecognizable from his 2016 incarnation even at this point.
I feel confident that he was this turd all along, it's just that in 2016 he had a different calculus about what people wanted.
Yeah - I was more thinking that he is so shapeless that 2016 is very different from 2020 and I'm thinking 2012 Rubio is unrecognizable.El Guapo wrote: Tue Nov 24, 2020 6:04 pmI feel confident that he was this turd all along, it's just that in 2016 he had a different calculus about what people wanted.
Rubio came into power with the Tea Party. He will morph to be whatever his base wants him to be.malchior wrote:Yeah - I was more thinking that he is so shapeless that 2016 is very different from 2020 and I'm thinking 2012 Rubio is unrecognizable.El Guapo wrote: Tue Nov 24, 2020 6:04 pmI feel confident that he was this turd all along, it's just that in 2016 he had a different calculus about what people wanted.
The only good part of the 2016 GOP primary was when Chris Christie annihilated Rubio on stage.YellowKing wrote: Wed Nov 25, 2020 9:30 am Rubio reminds me of the little brother that desperately wants to play with the big kids and will do anything to feel accepted by the group.
Sounds like he's auditioning for the support of Trumpaloos in 2024. And expect more of this from the likes of Cruz and Cotton as well.Skinypupy wrote:Rubio: "How dare Biden nominate competent professionals with qualified backgrounds! THE CHAOS GODS DEMAND CHAOS!!"

Would that ever be in doubt? I expect them lapdog for the Trump family and wait to see if it's OK for them each to make a bid. After verifying they have no spine they will obediently follow The Don, Ivanka, or Don Jr in their bid for a return.$iljanus wrote: Wed Nov 25, 2020 1:30 pm And expect more of this from the likes of Cruz and Cotton as well.
What if they are leaking that Rahm might be getting Transportation as cover for the person they actually intend to pick who might otherwise ruffle some feathers
Admittedly, this trick will become less convincing after they float Rahm for his fifth potential cabinet position. But it could get them pretty far!
