When we first started books and poems and plays why didn't we make everything sequels and franchises?

Why is there no Bible II? No Oedipus II? How come the Odyssey isn't called Illiad II?

Do they ever franchise and sequel music? After its initial success should there be an Amazing Grace II?

I'm pretty certain a lot of famous graphic artists franchised their stuff, didn't they? Dali with the the clocks and Monet with bails of hay.

Remember Certs? Haven't had those in a while.

In 1999, the United States Customs Service classified Certs as a candy mint for tariff purposes, since candy was taxed differently from oral hygiene products. In the ensuing suit before the United States Court of International Trade, Cadbury introduced expert testimony that Certs stimulate the flow of saliva, thus flushing bad odors from the mouth, and that its flavors and oils mask bad breath. But the court ruled that, since Certs did not contain anti-bacterial ingredients, they were, indeed, simply a candy mint. This ruling was, however, overturned at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, making Certs legally a breath mint.
Thanks Obama!

Depends on how you apply them during certain oral arguments. I prefer Altoids for that, though.

Most of the great European artists had studios full of assistants churning out copies, Shakespeare did almost nothing but remakes, and The Bible II is the one starring Jesus and his friends.

No, he's on Fox. RAT'S an "entertainment channel", according to their legal department.

I still find such sites useful, at least for determining whether a caller that leaves no message is a telemarketer or debt collector so I can block it.

When buying lunch at my favorite questionable seafood eatery today, I was given change in the form of $2 bills. I haven't seen these things since like the early 80s. I thought they were no longer in circulation.

+1. You usually can't get identity info if the number's legitimate (without paying), but you can often find warnings if it's a scammer or telemarketer. I block those with gusto.

I've become a research assistant for my wife.

I thought it was ridiculous when a philosophy class had 15 essay questions for a final exam. Earlier this week, my wife was given worksheets for a unit on the Respiratory system. She asked if I could help research about half of the 10 page assignment and put it into a word document.

I just finished. That document is 160 pages long and more than 53,000 words. The bulk of it is a clinical description of 21 respiratory diseases/disorders and complete nursing care plans to go with each. While she doesn't actually need all that information, I don't know enough to filter it any more, and she says what I'm doing is fine. Still. 160 pages.

Taking a call from a grandmother who is breaking down and staring down at her dead 15 month old grandson, and trying to tell her were on the way to help when really, there is no helping her. Sometimes we have good days, sometimes we don't.

I've had some somewhat similar experiences.

At least she had someone to call when she needed help, even if the 'help' was an illusion.

Yeah. EMS side. It is rewarding the majority of the time but there are some of those calls that just stay with you a while.

I'm guessing the character in this Disney Channel show is named "Delgo", but it sounds for all the world like they keep calling him "Dildo".

I relexively chuckled when they said, "Dildo, don't go down that hole!"...then had to try and explain to my 6 year old why I was laughing.

The 911 call reminded me about my best friend's brother. He worked for the Fire Dept., as an EMT, a Fireman and eventually Fire Chief. Those people see horrors that you can not even imagine. Anytime you seen a fireman or EMT, thank them. The work they do exposes their psyche to things no one should ever experience.
