The wife was out of town over the weekend so it was me and the kiddo flying solo. On Saturday we took a walk for brunch and forgot it was idiot day. If you consider that 1 in 50 gets called in, yeah, this was typical of our weekend. When the kiddo recaps the weekend with "Mommy, we seriously saw a LOT of puke!" you might get a raised eyebrow.

We have our first arrest of the day [in the neighborhood]! A man is taken into custody outside of Slugger’s bar for allegedly battering a police officer. Way to go, champ!

Burglary in progress. Security reports two white men in green sweatshirts have climbed to the upper deck of a parking garage north of Wrigley Field.

A motorist reports that “thousand and thousands of people are at Clark and Cornelia.” The commander agrees. “There are…We’re doing the best we can.”

The roommate came home drunk and is beating the caller. 3500 block of N Wilton.

Order issued: Keep all cars moving on Clark Street or else the revelers will take over the traffic lanes.

Battery in progress at John Barleycorn. Ambulance arrives, but the victim refuses treatment and refuses to file a police report.

Another arrest near Al’s Italian Beef.

10:16PM — Unknown officer: "Can you help us on these descriptions? Everybody out here has a green shirt and blue jeans on today."

The changes to the police districts made the Wrigleyville crowds of drunks impossible to police properly. The area was deemed "safe" because there's little gang violence, but no consideration was made for the density of offenders on party days.

I took my kids to watch a Pokemon tournament at the FLGS (West Loop) and then to see Zootopia. What a fun movie, and no vomit!

Interesting that a picture of a floppy disc has become the nearly universal icon for saving a file when there are people in the workplace who have never seen a floppy disc or a floppy drive.

Proctoring exams sucks. My eyes feel about 800 pounds each due to sheer boredom. The only amusing portion of the day so far was when a student, who skipped close to 90% of the class days, came up and asked if there was a typo on the exam or if there were actually supposed to be i's there. He was looking at the part of the exam covering complex numbers. Amusing in a sad, you're doomed to fail this exam sort of way. :?

Scadenfreude, but pretty awesome. Did you keep a straight face when you answered?

It's odd to me that it's the always the 3.5" "floppy" rather than 5.25" (or pretty much identical 8").

That is cool. I wonder how the water affects the material the model is made of.

Who says it's actually water? I imagine that the right lighting/tint would do the job wonderfully.

The only search by image stuff don't give any credit, and other locations are also without context.

I can't speak for that piece but my friend has created a similar illusion using only internal lighting and tinting of the environment. And it's better in person than it is in photograph.

Of course! The glass is tinted just right. No liquid involved.

When I fly JetBlue, if I use an eTicket (on my phone) when I present it at the gate to board, 80% of the time they ask me for my last name (but they never do with a paper ticket). Why is this? My last name is printed on the ticket and appears on their screen when my ticket is scanned. So they can see my last name, and I can see my last name, so it seems like we all already know what my last name is. My guess is that it's some weird airplane security voodoo, but if I were impersonating myself, I could just read my last name on my ticket (and on their screen).

At Fuddrucker's, after handing them my CC to pay, they ask for the name on the order. I didn't realize the TSA was involved in my burger purchase.

I would sometimes give them a fake name for my order. It amused me to be addressed as "Merle".

I politely let them know I'm married and tell them their request is making me uncomfortable.

I used to use 207-775-4321 as my number. It's the Portland, Maine Time & Temp line.

I've gotten lazy in my old age, though. Now my answer is "no thanks" and they just don't enter a number.

Spoiler:
My wife's name is actually Jenny. She does not, however, appreciate when I serenade her with that song. Could be the song itself or my horrible singing voice. Hard to say.

So I have a pharmacist who sends me humira in an organ box every other week. This last Friday they ask if there has been any change to my medical condition and I say "Over the last nine months my fatigues levels have gotten to be intolerable and I get winded do even the simplest of physical activities. I truly fear what mowing the lawn is going to do to me this spring" which is all true. Monday, I get a call from a nurse at the GI doctor that I wasn't expecting and they confirm everything and she tells me she will talk to me GI doctor. Yesterday, while I am stuck at home, with no access to my schedule (another story) I get a call from the GI doctor that says make and appointment the GI Doc and my PCP. Today, I call back to schedule an appointment with the GI doc, and their office, no, go to your PCP ASAP! and then come to the GI doc. So I call my PCP, and they clear their schedule to get me in tomorrow morning and inform me that I experience fatigue and shortness of breath tonight, I should not wait for my appointment and go to the emergency room tonight.

WTH? I think they think I've been having heart attacks for the last nine months. That doesn't sound right, does it?

Getting old at 40 sucks ass.

You can have it.

Really, I just assume I am getting older and have terrible genes. I always figured, I'd never make it 60 and this is just the normal acceleration. I've been slowly falling to pieces since my early 30s.

Name of the Year 2016 has arrived!

It's hard to pick a favorite this year. Sicnarf Loopstok has a nice ring to it, but he (she?) will be hard-press against Dick Tips and Dr. Shark Bird.

edit: Voting has commenced, and Sicnarf is already on the ropes.

Ill right now. Biggest mistake I've made at work in 18 years here.

Used persons container name in email template to list access that were terminated for his access being terminated. Did not delete container name before sending email accounting of his terminated access, so he was copied on the confidential mail along with the names of the people who asked me to do the terminating.

So sick to my stomach. Heart beating so fast.

Stupid. Stupid. Gonna puke.
