What an awful legacy. One might charitably say that she was the spark that ignited the Civil Rights movement...although if it hadn't been her, someone else would've; the time was just ripe. Still, "I don't think she had a pleasant or happy life." One hopes.

Oh man this one hurts. Gordon Lightfoot is one of my all-time favorite singer-songwriters. I have most of his albums on vinyl.
I never saw him in concert; the one time I planned to go was during a business trip to Boston, but the trip wound up being canceled so I never got to a show.
I highly recommend the documentary Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind on Amazon Prime. He was an amazing talent and his music has brought me comfort on many a crummy day.

Actually didn't know he was still alive. RIP. Only thing I can say is my sister gave me a cassette of one of his albums...or Dan Folgelberg....and I didn't care for it being a teen into hard rock and metal. Looking back I blame it on youth as I grew to like that style music as well as almost all the rest I hated back then. I still cant remember who's album ir was. Thats my story.

Yeah, sad news He was actually still fairly active performing until health issues in early April that forced him to cancel his shows. But he's had a number of health scares over the years. We now have 3 Canadian Gord Legends up in Heaven; Downie, Lightfoot, and Pinsent.

The last time I saw a video of Gordon he was very gaunt and didn't look good. Still sad to hear.
I love "If You Could Read My Mind."

Why won't Taptalk let me edit my posts? Now it's always going to look like I don't know how to spell "hear."

Just got word my cousin passed this morning. Not entirely unexpected, as she's been battling cancer on and off for nearly 10 years now. Still, she was younger than me (44) and leaves behind three kids in high school.
That makes 9 immediate family members (mom, aunts, uncles, and cousins) that have passed in the last two years. I'm so very, very tired of funerals.

That's brutal. I hope you have many years to come free of further grief... You seem to have more-than paid your dues. Damn.

Are these all nearby relatives? Could it be an environmental thing?

Doubt it. Four were simply old age. Two were cancer. Two were COVID. One was diabetes complications.
Mom and cousin were the only ones here locally that passed from cancer. Mom’s was quick and unexpected, but cousin had been fighting it for 12 years.

Lost my cousin I grew up next door with who was just 2 years younger than me a few years ago at 44 to breast cancer. They were told she had beat it but it returned and killed her young. Left her two kids behind. One was still in high school. Fuck cancer.

Yahoo's been known to recirculate old news. But it's appalling when it's a death.

I saw that too on MSN. That website is crap. They had a headline that Barbara Walters has died and the article is talking about her funeral service.
MSN and Yahoo are trash and should never be visited. I'm done with them.

Andy Rourke of the Smiths has died of pancreatic cancer.
I never cared for Morrissey, but the band were unique.
