As is *checks notes* Montana, at 56%. Colorado is at 43.3, and we're a 'voting early is the norm' state.

Could the Democrat dream of a blue TX be coming true? If turn out is much higher than 2016 does that mean minorities, urban and suburban voters are turning out enough to offset small town, rural Trump Texas?

So pissed right now.

I promised myself many years ago that I would never vote against someone, I would never vote for the lesser of two evils. So, of course, I sat out the first two elections I was eligible to vote in because I didn't like either candidate. Then in 2008 I voted for Obama because I thought I saw a real chance for change. My wife and I moved to San Antonio in '09 and in my ignorance I neglected to register down here. By 2012 and 2016, I had grown rather jaded and frustrated with politicians, so I opted not to vote again either time.

Now comes today. I took the day off work to go vote, and when I showed up I expected some form of hoop-jumping. But imagine my surprise when they told me not only did they not have a record of me being registered up in my former county, that I'm not even in the system as a registered voter at all.

What the hell do I do now? The one time I feel like I could actually do some good and play a role in a change I really believe in, I can't. Any advice?

Polling generally points towards Texas being a toss-up (538 currently gives Biden a 48.4% chance of winning). I don't know that turnout numbers really impact that much. Odds are (in the absence of shenanigans) that Trump will eke out a narrow win in TX, but Biden has a real shot there.

I think you're screwed. Sucks, but this is why checking your voter registration during the registration window is so important. Lesson learned for next time.

Unfortunately, you're probably out of luck. The internet says that Texas's voter registration deadline was October 5th. The Texas Democrats appear to be running a voter assistance hotline at 844-TX-VOTES, so I would try that, as well as the Texas Secretary of State's office.

If it's a mistake or a records issue, then you may be ok. But I know some states (I know Ohio does this, blessed by our conservative judiciary) wipe voter records if they don't vote in one or two elections, and I wouldn't be shocked if TX does that; if so, you're probably out of luck.

But I'd call the Texas Democrats and the Secretary of State's office and see what you can find out.

Just to put a little bit of a dampener on Texas, in 2016, Texas had one of the lowest turnout of any state, with ~51% turnout. so it's easier now to reach 65% of their 2016 total earlier than it would be for other states.

Still very impressive, though.

What can my loved one do for me vs what can those five people do for me?
Who else can accountability be shifted to for each direction?
What costs me less?
Is there a way to make money off my choice? Which makes me more?
Why did Obama and the Clinton foundation put these child pornographers on the track anyway, where their justifiable deaths in the execution of law and order will damage this great GOP train we had to fix that has never been better and supports the clean coal industry?

Strassel is just plain awful. She's been a Trump apologist from the get go, with no attempt at even trying to appear even handed or unbiased in any way. I love the WSJ and have considered re-upping my subscription but I won't due to their editorial support of Trump under Murdoch. The old WSJ would have never bowed the knee to Trump and it is very sad.
