That's what I grew up with. Turns out that it's only marginally better than just using soap.

As I understand it (from watching the Mythbusters episode), the smell is from an oil. So you want something that will lift the oil from the hairs and let it wash away.

Adopting Ziggy Stardog a few weeks ago has had some very pleasant and unexpected side benefits. I went from being a total lazy lump to now walking around 3 miles a day. I've gotten outside more in the last 3 weeks than I have the in the last 6 months combined. The kids now want to play outside, where we could never get them to go out before. I'm spending less time on my phone/iPad and more time actually interacting with both the kids and the dog.

Fuzzy friends are rad.

My brother taught himself Assembly using the "Assembly" cartridge for our Atari 800. Several of his friends did similar things on Commodore Vic 20 and Apple II. They did all kinds of geeky stuff the made my envious of smart people. My brother went on to try and avoid a career in computers for the next 20 years. He ultimately failed and became a professional programmer.

I did learn to some BASIC graphics and horrible noises but never could make them do much. I so wanted to design video games.

Robbers target players of popular Pokemon Go smartphone game, police in O'Fallon, Mo., say

A new smartphone game takes people out into the real world to collect cute creatures, but sometimes the real world can be a dangerous place. That’s what some players found out after four teens apparently staked out specific spots they knew would draw players of the popular Pokemon Go game, then robbed them, O’Fallon police say. The robbery part made sense to police, but O’Fallon Sgt. Phil Hardin joked that “younger, geeky officers” had to fill in their colleagues about some of what the victim was describing. “All of the elements of a robbery were all there, so that part was easy, but the more in-depth discussion that followed was like, ‘What?’” Hardin said. “You really can’t make this stuff up.”

Hardin was among officers called to a robbery scene near a gas station at the intersection of Highway K and Feise Road about 2 a.m. Sunday. Authorities spotted the four suspects in a black BMW shortly after arriving at the scene. Police arrested the teens and found a handgun. Later Sunday, authorities charged Shane Michael Baker, 18, Brett W. Miller, 17, and Jamine James D. Warner, 18, with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. All three were being held with bail set at $100,000 cash-only. A fourth suspect, 16, was in the custody of juvenile authorities.

Inconthiable. I assume I eat more hot dogs than a typical person and that's got to be...

Maybe stuck eating four at a cookout or two throughout a year and maybe as many as two to three trips to a Coney in a year. Add an exceptional year where I might buy and consume a pack of dogs at home. That's 18 hot dogs in a really heavy hot dog eating year.

One of you must be a serious hot dog pig.

Pizza, on the other hand, is natures perfect food and I still haven't found a way to live without it. I can't remember the last time I went for more than a week without eating a pizza and I never find myself going "Na, I'm just not feeling like pizza today." ever.

So, my PC is currently in the shop for a hardware transplant (new mobo, i7-6700K, GTX 1080), but no worries since I have my tablet to keep me out of trouble until I get the PC back. Until my WIFI router falls over (as it is wont to do once or twice a year), which is not a problem since all I need to do is log on to the router and reset the transceiver. Which I can do as soon as I get my PC back.

My new First World Problem -- posting from an ethernet-connected PS3.

I watched "The Big Short" on the flight home today. It was a fantastic movie that took an extremely complex event (the housing market crash) and made it fun and easy(ish) to understand.

And if it's even close to accurate, it's absolutely terrifying.

The fundamental problem was that I "knew" that the router used https (it actally uses http), so when the browser hung I blamed the browser rather than the URL (the browser was also failing on external sites that use https, so it seemed consistent). The face-palm moment didn't come until I dug out the router manual to check the IP address, at which point I discovered that I had been specifying the wrong protocol. A classic failure of imagination compounded by misinformation.

Well they used to all use http so it is forgivable. It is only the last few years that I have seen them set to use https out of the box with http disabled.

Sudden hematuria had me worried. As far as as I know I have no UTI, no fever and no pain, so I guess I'll give it 48 hours and see if it stops by itself. Else, it's time for doctor's appointment. It's just... unnatural seeing that color, ya know?

Other than pre-diabetes (which is under management) I've lost an inch or two off my waist in the past month or two (but not any weight).

And no, no beets. Checked blood pressure, it's fine (though who knows if I can trust this tiny meter). I guess I should give myself a prick to see how's my blood sugar...

Depending on what you are/were that's not bad. When I was in highschool I was 180 with 28 inch waist. A couple of years ago I was down to 180 for a time with a 34 inch waist. Let's just say, I've lost a bit of muscle over the unkind years.

That can make it look like you are bleeding out of your ass, it doesn't affect your urine... that I recall.

I'll see your hematuria and raise you hematospermia. It's just unnatural to see that color there, too.

I was remarking to my wife that around 1985 I wore 32/32 jeans. A few years ago I was wearing 40/32 or 42/32 to be comfortable. Im down from 214 to 190 and wear 38/32 pretty well but either they make 32 longer or Im shrinking. Im not overweight now but all my fat whatever I have is my stomach. Its not big and you cant tell it but if I poke it it jiggles hahah...ugh. Old age sux.....cause my age now sucks.

have you been working out intensely? it could be Rhabdomyolysis. I have known 2 people in the past few months who had this.

Rapid muscle breakdown form too intense of workouts leads to protein entering urine and gives you brown urine. Pretty serious thing.

I just gave away a few pairs of size 32 shorts that Wife excavated from storage. I might possibly see size 34 again one day, but 32 ain't ever gonna happen unless I get a wasting disease. Or quit drinking beer, which would be even worse.

I've also moved from a 32 leg to a 30 leg, although I vaguely recall stopping in at 31 for awhile. A disproportionate amount of my height is in my torso, and if my legs are getting shorter...hello new career as an animated cartoon character.

Ticket details: Web service application is slow responding.

There are literally 10 (maybe more) different groups that could be the source of the problem, one of which could in theory be the user.

There is no work flow designed, each group has their own priorities and fiefdoms.

Assuming preliminary efforts fail to identify anything obvious, and assuming you want to keep everyone informed and in the loop, a conference call with 10+ people is needed to even start to address the ticket. God help us all if it's something intricate, subtle and complicated and not something easy like a failed disk or memory or networking (easy networking, not complicated networking).

I swear to god if I ever meet Harper in the street I'm gonna kick him in the balls. There is no doubt in my mind that "we" (meaning all of IT for the entire federal government) have been set up to fail.
