I desperately need to vent about the TelCo and their contractors and their work orders and their relationships with one another but I can't do it without getting into specifics and it's not prudent to get into specifics here.

I haven't been this angry in a few years. I think my spleen is about to bleed out through my eyes.

Fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you.

We can't pay the LEC to do the work because we aren't their customer. The TelCo insists it's our responsibility. The LEC's contractor doesn't know what the LEC is doing and yet brought in the wrong stuff and expect me to pay for it because that's what the work order says and it's not their problem. The TelCo wants to go live and start charging me for the circuit. The contractor wants to do nothing and have me pay an exorbitant amount of money and the LEC wants to wash their hands and move on to the next project. And I am holding the bag for a project I have no expertise on that I was only informed about by virtue of being labeled the onsite contact by the TelCo

Again, that's about as specific as I can get.

LECs have you by the balls. That is why I always ONLY order circuits from them. Any services or equipment I provide or hire a third party directly. As far as efficiency a LEC=the government.

On the telco though. Tell them you will cancel or it must work. Almost all have a 90+ day satisfaction guarantee.

Good luck.

It's an MPLS. It was contracted with the LEC on the other end. Otherwise I concur. I prefer to work with the LEC, as much as I despise them. I get a Statement Of Work that includes extending and configuring the equipment. I don't understand the technology, but it's not my first rodeo with the TelCos. The less fingers in the pie, the less finger pointing that can happen.

I concur - Weird Al belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:
Will “Weird Al” Yankovic ever get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

In terms of commercial performance, his numbers stand up. Yankovic's 12 million albums sold, seven Platinum albums and four Grammy wins are more impressive than some of the figures of artists already in the Hall of Fame. Perhaps the biggest feather in his cap is that he is one of only three artists to earn Top 40 hits every decade since the '80s, along with Madonna and Michael Jackson. His list of hits includes "Amish Paradise," "White & Nerdy," "Eat It," "Fat," and "Like a Surgeon."

Some people dismiss Yankovic’s talent by noting that he re-writes the lyrics to other people’s music. But less than half of his songs are parodies. The other half are original comedy compositions,
Black Lives definitely Matter Lorini!

Got home from Denver at 10:30 last night to a house with a broken AC. It was 92 degrees inside with all the windows open and about 10 fans blowing. The Wonder Twins woke up four times crying and drenched in sweat, and I got about 2 hours of sleep. Repair guys are supposed to come first thing today, but who knows when that will be.

Good thing it's only supposed to be 101 today.

Turns out it was just a burned out power something or other, and didn't require a full AC replacement. It was "only" $600 to fix...whew.

Since the other two Brians where in the To: block of the email and I was in the CC: block, I'm gonna go with...not it.

Still, not the worst email I've received at this company. My favorite is the PM who emailed me the customers PO.

Except, it wasn't a PO it was a copy of the PMs doctor bill for his mole removal.

Is it right to call a film a blockbuster before it's been released?

Edit

Maybe the word doesn't mean what I think it means...

Edit

Nope. It means what I think it means and holy hell. Blockbuster video still exists. It's been over a decade since I've seen one.
BLOCKBUSTER’S FUTURE

DISH will retain licensing rights to the Blockbuster brand, and key assets, including the company’s significant video library. DISH will focus on delivering the Blockbuster @Home service to DISH customers, and on its transactional streaming service for the general market, Blockbuster On Demand.

The Blockbuster @Home service offers over 15 movie channels including STARZ® Cinema, EPIX®, Sony Movie Channel, and Hallmark Movie Channel, plus over 20,000 movies and TV shows streamed to TVs, computers or iPads®. The service includes access to the Blockbuster @Home ‘app’ currently available to the millions of TVs served by DISH’s Hopper® Whole-Home HD DVR set-top box.

Available to anyone, Blockbuster On Demand is a transactional streaming video service offering thousands of movies viewable on connected devices including PCs, tablets, smartphones, Slingbox, Roku and select Samsung TVs and Blu-ray players. Consumers can learn more at

More than just awareness, apparently (to my great surprise).

Ice Bucket Challenge funds gene discovery in ALS (MND) research
The Ice Bucket Challenge that went viral in 2014 has funded an important scientific gene discovery in the progressive neurodegenerative disease ALS, the ALS Association says. Scientists have identified a new gene contributing to the disease, NEK1. The Ice Bucket Challenge has raised $115m (£87.7m) from people pouring cold water over themselves and posting the video on social media. It was criticised as a stunt, but has funded six research projects.

Research by Project MinE, published in Nature Genetics, is the largest-ever study of inherited ALS, also known as motor neurone disease (MND). More than 80 researchers in 11 countries searched for ALS risk genes in families affected by the disease. "The sophisticated gene analysis that led to this finding was only possible because of the large number of ALS samples available," Lucie Bruijn of the ALS Association says. The identification of gene NEK1 means scientists can now develop a gene therapy treating it. Although only 10% of ALS patients have the inherited form, researchers believe that genetics contribute to a much larger percentage of cases.

Social media was awash with videos of people pouring cold water over their heads to raise money for ALS in the summer of 2014. More than 17 million people uploaded videos to Facebook, including many celebrities who rose to the challenge, which were then watched by 440 million people worldwide.

Approximately 80% of the foods in American grocery stores contain GMOs. I assume that's because they contain corn or its derivatives, and because wheat and soybeans are also mostly GMO.

Want to give a big F U to the FedEx delivery driver. I've been home for 5+ hours and when do you show up? 55 minutes after I leave the house. Unbelievable. I suppose NewEgg is also to blame for their ridiculous shipping logistics, sending two different packages ordered at the same time with different scheduled delivery dates -- and both require signatures. Because that's reasonable. When I have these experiences it reaffirms my devotion to Amazon Prime.

Actually, more than the sum total of comments I've received on other garments during my lifetime.
