I still like my sci-fi and fantasy movies but not populated by Marvel and DC heroes.
I got there several years ago. I eventually watch some of the better-reviewed blockbusters just so I can stay in the conversation, but I don't actively look forward to them and wouldn't even consider paying to see one in a theater.
Except Guardians of the Galaxy. Really enjoyed that one.

Yeah, sorry about that. I thought about trying to figure out how to shrink it, but then figured you all could just deal with it.

I had to replace the innards of the toilet water tank and now it flushes properly.
I feel so manly now.
Maybe now I'll take on de mildewing the house.

Instead of using

Heh. This is on my to-do list as well. I should actually replace the whole thing(s), as they are old school and flush a small swimming pool worth of water each time.

People release them into the wild because they can't bring themselves to kill them. So they are looking for ways to get these people not to release them and kill them instead. Humanely.

I just discovered that the two previous people doing my job (I've been here four weeks now) thought "Firewall" meant "FreeForAll" ... They used amazing rules like "Any Source" looking for "Exchange Services" should be ushered directly to the server. Why bother setting up a rule that limits your email server's communications with just the spam filtering host you use when you can just let anyone talk to it? I'm getting a little eye twitch right now. The more I look at the firewalls, the more it seems that folks before me thought they were only used to act as a VPN bridge between sites and nothing else mattered.
It's hard to look at everything in a business at once when you come in, so I tend to focus on understanding the physical connections in the network, how people use it, and build a detailed road map before I delve into the depths of any one component. I spent three weeks putting together an information-dense 6-page Visio outline of the network and business apps that easily shows how everything from external drives to $50,000 equipment comes together. My next step was to spend a week pouring over the notes and documents left by the previous two people (one documented everything, even how to connect a network printer - the other documented nothing and it's like this chair was vacant for 9 months before I arrived) and test what I can, like passwords and device access instructions - and then rebuild a good current list of anything that needs to be kept. With that done, I move onto bigger fish - backups, disaster recovery - and make sure the existing plans meet the business needs. I look forward to a time when the dust has settled and I have everything here under control. I'm not sure what I'll be doing, but I always find a way to look stay busy.
My process and ability has "amazed" the Office Managers here. They saw the last guy do the bare minimum like it was offensive to him, and the person before him ran around like a chicken with her head cut off for years. What stinks is that my "WOW" factor isn't because I'm really good, but because the people before me weren't. I don't like being seen as impressive because I'm not bumbling or struggling.

Making a Murderer
Brendan Dassey's conviction was overturned by a federal judge moments ago, court reporters tweeted.
According to court documents, a judge ordered that Brendan should be "released from custody unless, within 90 days of the date of this decision, the State initiates proceedings to retry him."
The judge further ordered that "in the event the respondent appeals this judgment, this judgment will be stayed pending resolution of that appeal."

Tried to kill myself today. Hood of my riding lawnmower came down on my wrist. Blood everywhere. Neverending it seemed. Drove myself to the VA. Figured it was faster than waiting for an ambulance.
Didn't make it and I died.
Well, okay, maybe not. It took them awhile to sew everything back together tho. And get a tetanus shot.
I'm a little weak and sore but okay. I'll last another week at least.

I've come to the conclusion that I have too much.
Too much stuff on the shelves - mostly decorations.
Too much crap on my desk.
Too many shows on my 'active' list.
Too many games being played at once (I'm at four right now, not counting Overwatch and anything on my tablet.)
Too many projects underway.
Too many books I'm in the middle of (why can't I read just one?)
Too many monthly services I don't need.
Too many things on the to-do list.
Too many stations on Pandora that I don't actually listen to.
Too damned much.
With five games, a dozen shows, and a small pile of books, how is it I wonder why nothing ever gets done?

I've already taken a number of shows off of my active list. Agents of Shield I left, but I'm very iffy on it. It has its moments, but has never really made me excited for the next episode.
I put The Witcher 3 on the back burner. I love what I've seen in the first couple of hours, but I want to prune myself down to two endable games, max, at a time. It is the longest, and I'm not very far in, so I will go back to it after I have finished some combination of two of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, Far Cry: Primal, and XCom 3. After that, I will try to finish a game before I start a game.
I will also put some books back on the shelf. One novel or one non-fiction book at a time, plus one comic series (Sixth Gun right now.)
Maybe I'll be able to actually finish a few that way.

Couple years ago I was opening a box when my knife slipped and made a dramatic incision across the inside of my wrist. While I was putting pressure on it and struggling back upstairs, wondering if I was going to bleed out, I thought "Well this is embarrassing. Wife's going to think it was a sloppy and inconsiderate suicide."
I didn't die, either, but I do still have what looks like a wristcutter's scar.

I uninstalled all of the grindy online war games that I was attached to in the effort to direct myself to something that had a finish.
A side effect of the MIL not being here is that the dog becomes attached to whomever is home, and that's usually me. When the wife's home, I try to spend time with her, so my gaming has pretty much died.
I've been getting back into "reading" with the audiobooks from the library, which does nothing for the stack of unread books.
I've started sitting out back with the dog and reading some of my backlog of periodicals. I'm looking forward to see what New Horizons sees at Pluto.

Not sure who I am this week. I fixed the cars AC, found the parts to fix the fog lights on it, deleted some games (one had been here 6 years and I just suck at it now so all gone), and got a few other little old things done.

Saw 2 classic cars today!
When I came out of Walmart today there was a beautiful 67/68 Mustang parked right beside mine. In really nice shape. I could have sworn it was black but as I pulled out and moved past it the sun hit it and it was a dark purple brown color. Was strange.
What surprised me the most though is I always thought my 2001 was a small car Mustang but that classic one was even smaller than mine.
On a side note I was stopped at a red light beside a aqua blue colored 55/56 Thunderbird . Mint. The same type with the round window as Susanne Summers drove in American Graffiti. So all and all a really cool car day for us
