I don’t think so. I know some folks were talking about secret stuff in careers, but if it ain’t obvious I’m too lazy to go hunting.

Huh. I had no idea. "Ready"
What does 'ready' mean?

Cool, just found it. I didn’t feel like waiting, so I opened it. It’s cool, but honestly I feel you can open it anytime.

Is it in any way gameplay enhancing, or is just a fun extra thing?

New KS project from Sandy Petersen,
Dinosaur 1944:
Dinosaur: 1944 is a cooperative strategy game about army men vs. prehistoric monsters. In it, you and up to 3 other players control brave soldiers in a World War II setting, struggling to save the entire world from the threat of a Mesozoic rebirth. It is in part a battle game, as you maneuver around the map and fight the enemy. It is in part tower defense, as you place ambushes to help take out or slow down the incoming fiends. Each hero has unique strengths and weaknesses – your victory depends both in mastering your own hero and cooperating with your friends.
As the game progresses, you face more numerous foes and dinosaur bosses enter the field. Eventually you face the final boss – defeating her wins the game. Beware: if the dinosaurs devastate your base camp, you’ll be stranded on Kyuryu Jima, prey to the horrors therein.
Delivery in May of 2022 with a $79 pledge level. Strategic co-op supporting 1-4 players. Very short (11 days) KS project.

I think Sandy Petersen has burned a lot of good will with backers at this point. Cthulhu Wars is still amazing but most of his other games have been pretty mediocre and they currently have 5 unfulfilled projects.

I'll admit, I haven't backed a single one of his KS projects. I picked up the recent-ish CoC RPG stuff at retail. I am still amazed that KS hasn't really started limiting projects and making sure delivery/fulfillment occurs before a creator can launch another one. I guess if there is communication about delays and things out of the control of the creator that's one thing. But I look at some KS creators (like DVG) as habitual abusers of the KS system.

I finally received Planet Apocalypse about a month or so ago. It is fun and ridiculously over produced (the models do not need to be that large). Overall, I am happy I backed it, but the delays were unbelievable.
I went all in with Hyperspace, and I think I am going to avoid backing any more of their products until that one gets to me.

Of course, I’ll probably back it.

Oh I backed it right away. The $80 small box is comparable to the 3rd party 3D printed pieces out there, so I do not think their pricing is out of whack. Terraforming Mars is my favorite boardgame, so I am willing to bling it out. It has gotten a ton of play time and much more life to it. Is it worth the $60 add on for metal cubes, that is a tough decision.
BTW, there is an
awesome fan created Table Top Simulator version available in the MMGA Discord #change_log room. It is scripted and has all the expansion content as optional choices. Highly recommend it.

My pending Kickstarters:
Dinogenics expansion (on the boat!)
SCALE75 Instant Colors paints (Fall 2020)
Oath (early 2021)
Categorickell (early 2021)
Glorantha: The Gods War (late 2021)
That's... not too bad? At least stuff is spaced out.

Oath (early 2021)
I actually played Oath on TTS a few weeks back. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I was playing as the Chancellor, so of course everyone was working together to overthrow me. Except one player started falling far behind the other two so I offered him a seat at my court. He initially refused but eventually I was able to tempt him to my side. It was just an overall great feeling getting to wield political power instead of just military power. It is not something that translates well in most games.
I think you will have fun with that one if you have a committed group for it!

Yeah, I played the Oath "beta" couple of times on TTS during the early days of lockdown. Pretty fun, although I gather that the rules are still in active development and things may have changed. I agree that it will benefit from a committed group, since a big part of the fun is seeing how the landscape and objectives evolve from game to game.

Kicking myself for not backing the Scale75 paints, the whole concept was just so really cool.
Dice Throne Adventures + Season One Rerolled - Dec 2020
Batman The Animated Series Adventures - Dec 2020/January 2021
Sanctuary: The Keepers Era March 2021
Frosthaven - March 2021
EtherFields - March 2021 (maybe)
Scale75 Instant Color - Nov 2020
Also waiting on Chaos on Hara - currently unknown, still in pre-order
Elder Scrolls Call to Arms - June 24th

Thanks for reminding me Etherfields is going to at least a year late.
Is that Chaos on Hara just a reprint of the expansion? I got a copy of it last year from their booth at Origins and even then it was hard to find.

Dice Throne Adventures is October-ish of this year, not December (as per 6/12 update)?
I thought Etherfields was doing a split shipping thing - like Tainted Grail? I have "October 2020" in my spreadsheet for the first wave, but maybe I missed something?
EDIT: Yeah, I just checked - I have split shipping on it. I thought core set was coming in October and stretch goals in March of 2021. Or I guess if you did single shipping, everything in March 2021?

Too Many Bones - Dec 2019 -- just waiting on Trove Box
Burgle Bros 2: The Casino Capers - May 2020
Altar Quest - Jun 2020
QE and On Tour - Board Games Reprint - Jul 2020
Aeon's End: Outcasts - Aug 2020
Steampunk Rally Fusion - Aug 2020
GPS, Sequoia, and Mountain Goats - Jan 2021
Final Girl - May 2021
I need to make some space on my shelves! That's a lot of stuff due by end of summer.

I just left the original estimates that are all wrong mostly because I am lazy and I don't really care. All I get played these days is Gloomhaven and we are starting to slack on that again and with BGG.CON likely to be a no go (and I prob wouldn't go even if it happened) it's probably going to remain that way. My son is my only gaming partner for the foreseeable future. I guess board game lunch is the main thing I miss about going into work.

So Roxley actually has a countdown clock on their website for DTA and it's at 131 days, which I think is November 1st, so I figured with any last minute delays and delivery time early December.
From update 33 of EtherFields;
Paper files ready - first half of June
paper digital samples ready - second half of June
paper mass production start - end of June / start of July
plastic production finish - middle of July
assembly start (and start shipping containers) - middle of August
shipping to backers - end of September / start of October
Once again, sorry for this extra delay, but we would not make this decision if we would not feel like we can get a better game done.
This delay also influence Langauge editions (just add 3-4 months to ENG version delivery)
I am assuming ENG version means English so I am adding the 3-4 months to October which is actually February but I added time for last minute delays and delivery which is why I put (maybe). If I am interpreting that wrong that would be great. Don't recall if I did the split shipping or all at once but thinking I would have done all at once.

I may have to print out that list and laminate it as a "see I don't nearly buy that many games" card.
I will be curious as to your review of Wonderlands War, that was another I came very close to backing but it seems to require at least 2 players and is probably better with 3 or so.

I like idea of Roll Player (I owned it) but it's a bit too...thinky (?) for my tastes. Just a lot of optimization that (to me) tilted more towards a worker placement game (ugh) than anything else. But thematically, I really liked the idea and why
Roll Player Adventures looks much more interesting to me:
Roll Player Adventures is a cooperative storytelling board game for 1-4 players set in the world of the critically acclaimed dice manipulation game, Roll Player. Players take the role of fantasy heroes: facing challenges, adventuring through the realm of Ulos, and making decisions that change the story — and the kingdom — forever.
I'm not going to lie- using a general design aesthetic for the quest books that matches classic D&D modules is tugging at my nostalgia.

Calling Roll Player think-y makes me question myself. I mean yeah it is basically Sagrada-Lite in the dice drafting/placement with the side-chore of managing alignment, but I fee like the emphasis is on Lite.
Adventures looks interesting but nowhere near $100 interesting. At $50-60 I would def be giving it a look, but not for $100.
Re: Kickstarter (Merged)
Posted: Tue Jun 23, 2020 11:44 am
by Smoove_B
It's definitely lite, but it's a bit too meta for me. Trying to optimize dice in a very specific way (color, pattern) after a while becomes more about that then the actual game. It's very well designed, but it always just felt like too much work to get into. I might be weird though, I'll admit it.
And yeah, the $100 price seems crazy - particularly with a $120 MSRP.
