Massive early voting crowds could be highly motivated voters for both parties, no?

I catch myself making that same assumption, probably out of hope for our country. I prefer accuracy, though, especially with something this important.
It's not all assumption. In most places we have stats on how many people have requested and returned ballots AND their party registration. By and large, Dems are crushing it in the early voting.

We don't know who they all voted for, but I feel safe assuming that Trump has lost more registered R's than Biden has lost registered D's. Polling backs this up, and also that Biden is winning independents.

Was performing maintenance on my Boss' Boss' workstation for about an hour today as a target of opportunity. He's a great guy and straight shooter and after the hour, even as he was convinced Trump is going to lose and the economy will suffer worse under Biden than it will Trump, he actually moved me from fearing Biden will lose Michigan straight in to having a belief that Trump's support will be stronger here in 2020 than it was in 2016. The economy is what he does for a living and it's single issue voting, he is no GOP guy. If that is his informed belief (and he is well informed) and he has become a Trump voter, against the reality I want to live in, it's becoming more and more apparent that not only necessarily true Trump isn't going to lose votes, he might actually have gained them here. He (Boss' Boss) is convinced Trump will lose based on COVID and the economy will suffer worse from the loss than it will from the win. He is also not convinced Biden would have handled better (though is not convince Biden would handle the same or worse)

I suppose it's possible, but it would require polling errors of near-galactic proportions for Trump to win Michigan at this point.

Reports from Blue New Jersey. My neighbor put up a Biden/Harris sign last night. This morning it was spray painted red on both sides.

FWIW in Massachusetts I'm used to never seeing campaign signs for presidential races, since due to the electoral college it might as well be the case that there's never a presidential election. I'm seeing a lot of Biden / Harris signs around.

I haven't driven by the house lately that had a giant "Hillary for Prison" sign in 2016 - I should head by there and see if there's anything up now.

My Philly ward is blanketed in Biden/Harris signs. This isn't surprising, as it went 2.5-to-1 for Clinton in 2016, but back then Hillary signs were few and far between.

Early voting is also through the roof here this time.

What's interesting is that this was once a more conservative neighborhood, known for "cops and contractors." It really has moved Left in the 18 years we've been here, although I do see Blue Lives Matter flags here and there.

Just a purely anecdotal single observation point about something I've never seen before, may mean nothing. Drove by a yard full of Republican candidate signs except for one - there was no sign for Trump. Found that interesting.

On a related note, a WSJ/NBC poll finds no late shift for Trump among voters:

https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/electi ... UAWLWT2qHE
About 13% of voters in Wisconsin, Florida and Pennsylvania settled on their candidate choice in the week before the last election, a report by a professional association of opinion researchers found. Those voters broke for Mr. Trump by 30 percentage points in Wisconsin and by 17 points in Florida and Pennsylvania, helping to deliver narrow victories, the study said.

This month, the Journal/NBC News poll went looking for signs of a similar, late shift—and found a different picture than in 2016. Undecided voters seem to be moving equally toward both presidential candidates.

I've noticed that trend around here -- people signalling that they're Republicans, but not showing their trump card. Also, there's rather a lot of lawn sign theft and vandalism. I've never seen that before.

I live in one of the (R) strongholds for NJ and I was driving through three separate towns today on business. I saw lots and lots of local (R) signs for politicians and more than a few Biden/Harris signs. However, I didn't see a single Trump sign - which struck me as odd. Every light and intersection I went through had the typical signage everywhere, but not a single Trump sign to be seen. I also thought it was really, really strange.

I haven’t seen a single yard sign for either candidate in my neighborhood. Last election, there were a lot of Trump signs, with a few scattered Hillary supporters.

There’s a few signs for local races, but nothing for POTUS. It’s rather odd.

Yeah, you're definitely surrounded. And I have seen them around, it was just striking not to see any in groupings with other political signs. My neighbor put one on his yard which isn't surprising at all. I mentioned it earlier this summer - he slapped a giant Blue Lives Matter flag on his front yard, courtesy of a flagpole that was installed. It kinda surprised me as it's the only type of political signaling I've seen on the entire block and even in my larger area. I'll be curious to see how things evolve after next week - either way.

I've seen a total of one Biden sign in my town. There are A LOT less Trump signs this time around. I was up in Hackettstown and that was Trump city. There's a guy who built these gigantic sign boards about how terrible Biden is. And by my work there's a house with neon Trump letters and blown up Trump faces on the house.

I'm sure they are lovely people. If you went by what I see and deal with on a daily basis you wouldn't be thinking Biden has a shot in hell. :P

We're probably about 95% local signs and 5% Biden/Harris. 0 Trump. That's pretty much how it is every 4 years with the exception of local favorite Obama who probably had 30-40% signage IIRC.

I'd say the rural Maine area I'm in right now is like...

70% no signs. 25% Trump signs. 5% Biden signs.

We had one Republican drum-beater stop in and my wife chased him off before he finished his first sentence. We've had two Gideon (Collins' Democratic opponent) drum-beaters stop in. We chatted with them. Each reported about a 25-to-1 ratio of people saying they were voting Republican still to people voting Democrat in our area. They were excited and relieved to find us. I don't know who they were visiting or how accurate they were - but I'm glad there were enough people living in our densely populated areas to bring the state over to being a majority Democratic state in 2016.

Knowing we're surrounded on all sides by people who are willingly throwing themselves behind an anti-science racist has really galvanized my wife's desire to move out of our little town.

I've certainly seen more Biden signs than Trump signs on lawns around here, but both are dwarfed by signs for more local candidates; I've seen more Harrison than Graham signs and a bunch for the GOP candidate for the House seat. Of course, Trump signs on boats outnumber Biden signs by ~100 to 0.

Also, we're up to 57% of 2016 total votes. TX still leading the way in %age, now over 94%. More people have voted in TX this year than exist in the bottom 9 states combined. Interestingly, CA is slightly ahead of TX in actual number of votes cast.

Several other states are over 80% of 2016 totals.

There was only one small Biden sign on our street, hiding by the tree outside one of our neighbor's houses. Until I went to our local farmer's market 3 weeks ago and saw they were giving out Biden/Harris signs. So I asked for one and now it's in our front yard. If you imagine a "T" we're at the T intersection and the sign faces down the length of the T. I was a bit apprehensive as my wife thought our neighbors to our right were Trump supporters (the wife watches Fox news), and most of the folks down the length of the T are military families. Turns out our neighbor to the right wanted to know where we got our sign and another Biden sign went up outside one of the houses down the T.

Around here (north-north-east MA), Biden signs outnumber Trump signs significantly. There's also a bunch of "we support the police" and "black lives matter" (and the more long-winded version of the latter), the police support signs being somewhat outnumbered. I'll leave it to the reader's imagination to establish who each of those is voting for.

It's a little different than in 2016, where there wasn't a single Hilary sign in sight, and an occasional Trump sign. Still disappointing that there's fascists all over the neighborhood.

Because he is also a grifter and uses God as a tool to sell to actual believers is my instinct. I don't have the an anti-christian bias I see from a lot of the anti evangelicals but it does seem to me there are a lot of people who treat the bible as sword and shield without actually believing Jesus Christ.

As corollary, what possesses so many to insist on reducing at any cost until such a time as they control the purse strings and find themselves expanding debt at a rate faster than when they weren't controlling the purse strings?

BTW, don't assume for a second that this "evidence" was actually lost. Today's story is about planting the seed and raising expectations for what's coming.

Expect it to burst into headlines tomorrow or Saturday as Carlson miraculously recovers the lost material, which now has a story about itself as well as being about the Hunter Biden story. This is how narratives get driven into attention.
