I'm not familiar with the comments from RFK Jr., but I don't see Nye as necessarily adopting them. I'm way, way down on stifling speech or debate, but I'm also down on fabrication of evidence, especially when it's done for profit. Why is it off-base to draw a comparison between extreme climate change deniers and the scientists that were bought and paid for by the cigarette industry?

You're not jailing people with differing opinions in that clip. You're jailing people with the means and pull who are actively trying to harm the future of humanity and stop them from doing further damage.

This isn't a case of an emergent truth being used to send someone to jail, it's a case of wanting to stop people with personal motivations for refusing to accept an emergent truth who are working to make things worse in the long run. A lot of people desperately want them stopped before the planet is irrevocably set on a course to becoming uninhabitable.

The other part of this, is I refuse to believe that the people smart enough to be in these positions are ignorant of Science. They know full well the truth because their companies use science from top to bottom for everything. The idea that all of a sudden when the science is inconvenient science doesn't work? Nonsense. It's not a question of differing opinions it's a question of exposing fraud.

I have sympathy for the average Joes denying because of ignorance and tribalism. I have zero sympathy or mercy for those in power that cover up death, decay and devastation for increased or stabilized profit margins.

I don't doubt people can flip political affiliation (since I managed to do it in the span of a single election
