Who exactly does Chuck Todd appeal to? What I think is clear is that NBC management takes Chuck Todd 'too seriously'.

Edit: To be clear, Todd was talking about its effect on campaigning but really. The framing is such a dumb take. So many people have already voted. Biden not holding traditional campaign events...makes sense because he is setting an example...to dig us out of the mess we are in. Idiots like Todd can't think ten seconds down the road to what comes next. It is just vapid chatter.

I wonder if Chuck Todd has an outside shot at exceeding the contempt that I have for Chris Cillizza. It won't be easy, but then people didn't think that Roger Maris's record could get broken either.

Todd has exceeded for me because one runs politics at CNN which no small thing but Todd runs MTP and its essentially become Fox News lite. Lately he has a tendency to invite GOP talkers on who lie to him, he doesn't challenge them, and just frankly has trashed one of the most important political news shows in history. It's baffling because if you are paying attention he is - subjectively to be fair - less than mediocre.

Todd will forever be compared (perhaps unfairly) with Tim Russert, who was one of the all-time greats. Todd seems to thrive on the controversy of the week writing the script for his show; and when Trump was elected he looked and acted like a kid in a candy store...knowing that the next 4 years would be cruise control. I think he generally picks good panelists, and the quality of the guests is a product of the times. How can a Republican go on to try to explain the stupidity of the administration without sounding dumb themselves? In general, I find MtP entertaining these days, even if lacking profound discourse of before times. But that would be the case with any political show over the last 4 years.

BTW, don't assume for a second that this "evidence" was actually lost. Today's story is about planting the seed and raising expectations for what's coming.

Expect it to burst into headlines tomorrow or Saturday as Carlson miraculously recovers the lost material, which now has a story about itself as well as being about the Hunter Biden story. This is how narratives get driven into attention.
Hey, you nailed it. UPS says it found the documents.

I can't wait to see this trove of damning documents that they couldn't scan or photocopy. This story is even more preposterous than it was last night. Was there truly an "empty" envelope as he claimed, etc.

So the story went from Opened and heavily implied stolen by the 'Deep State' to...just misplaced for a day or two like UPS does all the time? Good work there Tucker.

Wait... so the contents of the mailed package were misplaced, but the package itself was still delivered? Um.... Okay.

He will try to reveal his "documents" when it is too late for any extensive analysis before the election. Weak tea. No needle movement except slightly in favor of Biden.

No the story was that the package never arrived and they were told the package had been opened and the contents were gone. Poof. Much like Keyser Söze himself stole them. He heavily implied it was the deep state. Now they found the 'contents' and are returning them. Soon we'll be hearing about how the Deep State tore and removed key sections of the documents...not that a sorting machine ripped the shit out of an envelope and they just recorded it as a lost package. :)

Not only does that happen sometimes but sometimes a package will deliver with rubber stamps describing the empty package. "package damaged." "package open." "contents missing." stamps on it.

Wait. So it was electronic media. They had copies of. That could be transmitted instantly. By one of the largest media companies in the world. To an on air personality. By his producer. That they shipped by UPS.

So not only should they fuck the hell right off, but they are proclaiming publicly from the rooftops exactly how objectively stupid they are when it comes handling media as a media company.

Oh and we're still evaluating if we're going to tell you what's on the flash drive.

He went on tonight to talk about the 'weird circumstances' of the flash drive ending up on a supervisors desk at UPS. Anyway, then he immediately pivoted to a personal story about his own experience with Hunter Biden and says that he doesn't want to pile on Hunter with personal document releases. AKA they have nothing.

At this point I'm just trying to personally survive the election. I've already cast my ballot into the void. All of my stress indicators are off the charts and it's causing me real pain in the form of constant headaches from tension and loss of concentration due to sleep deprivation.

PA is probably not going to be that close. Biden is outside the margin of error to the upside and has been for some time. Florida and Georgia have Biden up inside the margin of error and both are run by Trumpists. I'm actually not that worried about the election anymore in the sense that the die is cast there mostly. The next 2 or 3 months might be consequential for the world while the pandemic worsens. Uncertainty about the future couldn't be much higher.
