This situation with the UNLV QB is wild.

UNLV starts 3-0 with wins over two Big XII teams (Kansas and Houston, but still...). Their QB announces yesterday that he is leaving the team because "I committed to UNLV based on certain representations that were made to me, which were not upheld after I enrolled". Basically that they promised him $$ and didn't follow through with it.

UNLV says that his family hired an agent after they started 3-0, then asked for a truckload more NIL money because his "market value had increased" (rumors are that he wanted another $300K). When they told him no, he simply bailed.

The only people I feel bad for in this situation are the rest of the UNLV team. It has to suck to get off to a great start, then have your starting QB just quit because reasons.

I get that NIL is a part of the sport now, but this wild, wild west approach is ridiculous.

Need a lawyer in the room during all recruiting visits/discussions.

It's just dad said/team said at this point.

https://www.on3.com/news/report-father- ... agreement/
Sluka’s father has provided clarity on the decision, telling ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg his son never received NIL payments promised by the UNLV staff during his recruitment. He also says Sluka nor the people around him asked for “a single dollar more” than what was originally agreed upon.

Fresno State plays UNLV Saturday, but I do hope the QB decides to return to the Rebels, next week. 🤭

This one’s even stranger. He’s redshirting, but staying on the team. So…he’s quitting then?

I fully expect him to transfer after seeing this.

Since when do the kids redshirt themselves...

They have 4 Big 10 games on the road. Ohio State being the most significant. If Michigan beats Ohio State this year, Ryan Day may not survive it. And by that I mean some crazed OSU fan may actually murder him.

I knew they would eventually have a road game but tomorrow marks 4 straight to open the season.

So it didn’t matter who was playing QB for UNLV as they destroyed Fresno State. The Rebels have had a two year starter sitting on the bench who was pretty good today.

I am displeased with this outcome. 😂 Props to Arizona, they’ve definitely got our number the last couple years. Fifita is a stud. We got worked in ways that very rarely happens, especially at home.

Wilson is going to be good, but he ain’t there yet. Will be interesting to see how we can do if Rising ever comes back.

That game was amazing, and so fun to watch. It’s rare that I will watch an entire college game if I’m not pulling for or against one of them.

Thought one of the announcers was going to have a stroke lol.

So Michigan, 5 games into the season, has only played games at home?

That's gotta be uncommon.

That Williams kid is ridiculous. And yes... doesn't turn 18 until February.
It's 109 first team All-Americans.
It's a college football record 61 bowl appearances.
It's 34 bowl victories.
It's 24 Southeastern Conference Championships.
It's 15 National Championships.

At some places they play football. At Alabama we live it.

For those non-conference games, most schools will travel to the Big House ($$$).

It is indeed rare to have 5 straight at home but they almost always do 4 of the first 5 at home. Depends on the conference opener.

Back when they played ND early every year, I think they alternated.

2023 - 4 in a row
2022 - 4 in a row
2021 - 4 in a row
2020 - COVID - 2 of first 5 at home
2019 - 3 in a row, 4 of first 5
2018 - @ ND then 3 in a row
2017 - 3 in a row, 4 of first 5
....

The call was definitely botched. I haven't been able to see a good replay, but some are saying a MN player touched the ball just before it went the full 10 yards so it would have been overturned anyway. Not sure if that's accurate or not, but since I've read it in a few places (and not just on Michigan blogs!) I figure I'd throw it out there.

Michigan tried their damnedest to give that one away - right down to snapping the ball over the QBs head after getting the phantom offside call on the onside kick.

Bama would be better off if the Defensive Coordinator just stayed in Nashville and sat around with the homeless begging for another job. They've looked awful all year except the first half of the Georgia game.
It is what it is at this point though. I can't recall the last time I've seen a defense this bad at Bama.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

What a batshit day.

- Vandy over Bama
- Arkansas over TN
- Minnesota over USC
- Washington over Michigan
- TAMU over Missouri

I just realized that Jack Tuttle was starting for Michigan. He was supposed to be the future at QB for Utah after the 2018 season, then suddenly bolted for Indiana completely out of the blue. No love lost around here for that guy.

Texas Tech vs. Arizona, aside from being way to effing late, was an interesting game to watch. Three fumbles were of the perfect fist-on-ball maneuver to pop it out.

Bugged that Cal’s defense gacked that game away…along with some serious help from the refs.

FWIW, Tuttle came in to replace Orji - he didn't start. I haven't looked to see if he'll be the starter going forward. The offense looked better with him, but he did throw a pick. What's odd is that they called running plays for him, but none for Orji while he was in. Really weird.

Anyway, dude is in his 7th year of college football. Time to let go of the anger for a decision a teenager made over a quarter of his life ago. ;)

He also had a critical fumble. But he's probably still the starter after the bye.

Michigan is the only 2-loss team in the top 25 so they pretty much have to win out to make the top 12. They do have plenty of ranked opponents upcoming so if they win out it's possible but I don't have a lot of hope that they'll win out. Not until they figure out the offense.

My concern about Alabama's loss is less about the loss and more about Malichi Moore's behavior on the field. He threw a tantrum, kicked the ball away from the officials (was flagged) and threw his mouthpiece. What's even possibly worse - the coaches tried to pull him and he refused to leave the field. I'm concerned that this might be a sign of larger discipline issues with this coaching staff.

Some Michigan fans started clamoring for Moore to be replaced after the Texas game, so I won't be surprised if some Alabama fans start calling for DeBoer's head after his first loss.

Moore has come out and apologized for his tirade and actions, and DeBoer has said he will not be suspended.
