Can I tell which direction it is coming from, and can I tell what language? Is it even human?
Knowledge: 12 (11+1 Int)
Considering our recent brush with baddies, I go ahead and wake everyone as quietly as I can. If I sense a change in the urgency of voices, I alert the camp loudly.

Damn...well, good game everyone. Sorry I got us all killed.
By the way, I am going out of town for the next two weeks, so if this encounter does turn into something resembling a brawl, Hammerhands will attack the most threatening target first and work his way out from there. If possible I want to leave one person alive to question, if not, knock everybody's teeth out. Figuratively, of course.

I'm not prodding people to play, just making sure my current set of players is still interested.
Coop?
I have expected these games to be very slow based on peoples ability to post.

No need to be sorry, just making sure we still have a Party of Four.
As everyone gathers to listen, the voices grow a little louder, it sounds like at least three

Okay thats pretty far out, in that case I am going to get low, and move very slowly to whichever flank would be easier to get to, assuming they are generally headed at us.Chaosraven wrote:To the west, further than 50 yards, language undetermined
I assume the only light source is probably a low burning campfire?
Stars or moonlight to aid us at all?
How heavy is our cover?
Am I annoying you with all my silly questions yet?

Moonlight as well.
How heavy is our cover?
Scraggly trees, not densely packed

Well once everyone else can chime in I suggest we plan out a small ambush possibly even with some bait via an apparently sleeping person within the camp itself... maybe someone thats good at bluffing.
Suggest that we use possible surprise to try to disable them as well however you might be able to go about that, we can't be sure that it isn't just some other random group of people out for a stroll in the moonlight hunting mushrooms or some such.
Chaosraven - Are the trees large enough to climb at all to get some small height advantage?

Well my bluff is +1 which makes it 6 or 7 higher than my hide or move silently checks. Subterfuge is not my specialty. Instead of bluffing I could just go back to sleep and count on you to protect me. My real snoring should be pretty darn convincing. Protect me well though as I don't have my armor on.

you are pretty sure you can make out three distinct shapes in the direction the voices are coming fromGrandMof wrote:I'd like to do a spot check to see if i can make out whom ever is out there.

Personally speaking my character is mostly about self preservation, but I also don't want to lash out carelessly. So a subtle ambush I would say, let them hail us, as they will obviously be able to make out our camp fire, but we should be prepared for a fight.GrandMof wrote:Wispers to his party members
I think i can see the people where the voices are coming from... *points in the direction* Should we attempt an ambush for them or try to scare them by letting them know we know where they are and are ready to fight them?
Im going to find a small amount of cover on a flank with a decent shooting alley and draw both of my hand xbows and ready an action to attack.

I will sit as if standing watch over my sleeping companion and keep an ear out for the approaching persons.

Assuming its a moving light source of some sort(ie torch or lantern), try to determine vector and make sure I am not directly in their path but still near enough to spring upon them if needed.Chaosraven wrote:From your vantage points, GrandMof and Grafvolluth can make out some light...
On the other hand if the light source is the beginning of gigantic fireball or meteors raining down around me.... duck and cover

Arthur looks at the door and slowly approaches. He has the mule (which ran up to him - all my stuff is on the mule!) on a long tether loosely wrapped around his shield arm. Arthur holds the symbol of Pelor in his shield hand and holds his mace by his side. He slowly walks through the portal - moving to the side as Mule comes through so that they aren't silhouetted.
Arthur stands quietly and looks at his surroundings. What does he see?

Arnir realizes that he is still wounded from his last encounter, so whenever it seems safe to do so, I'm going to use my spontaneous casting to convert magic weapon to cure light wounds. It should act as a level 3 spell.
