1) streamline my grenade hotkey situation. I rarely use anything but frags (and almost never those) because I have it mapped to my thumb button on my mouse (standard grenade hotkey for me). The rest...I don't even know which are the default keys. I only use grenades that aren't frags when I don't have frags because THEN they become the default grenade thrown by the thumb button. Would love to have fast access to each grenade type without major hand movement away from the "gaming home row" .
I've got weapon #1 and #2 in a comfortable place, but the pistol is still key 3, which sucks for me as a southpaw. Would like to clean that up.
Figure out how to travel farther horizontally when sky diving. I thought I had it worked out but I'm still falling short of where I see others able to get to. I'm often left behind by redfive when we jump together. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Need to figure it out.
read/watch more instructional videos. I found a bro-dude who despite that had a GREAT comparison video for the assault rifles. He also did shotguns and rifles and submachine guns. I need to watch those and re-watch the AR one until it sticks. His video is why I switched from the AKM to the M16 in my previous post.
Re-watch pistol comparison video. Bro-dude (doctor Pauly? DP?) does not have a video on pistols so I had to go elsewhere. I've already forgotten 1911 versus p92? Which is the higher damage? I ignore the revolver, and I can't remember what the base 9mm is called.
Think I've about covered this list. Time to make another. In case it's useful to anyone else:
1) Posted this already. Moved the "5" hotkey to something closer to my movement keys. This cycles through the grenades you have. If you don't have a grenade type, nothing happens, you don't put away your current weapon. If you only have 1 grenade type, ta da, this selects it. I throw with my mouse's right thumb button.
2) I scroll up on the mouse wheel for weapon #1, down for #2 and now I've mapped #3 (pistol!) to something within reach of my movement hand "home row". Solved. Now for the muscle memory training.
3) a combination of diving straight down for speed, then converting that vertical speed to horizontal speed by leveling out. Repeat until feet meet ground.
4) Nope, still need to do this. However I still learn things from watching gameplay (not instructional specifically). for example, you can pop the tires on a vehicle. You can pop them with a punch for silent vehicle sabotage.
5) Mostly got this: Progression is: P18C (I've never seen one of these I don't think) -> P92 -> 1911 -> Revolver. My confusion lay between the P92 and the 1911. Solved.

Red, looks like I can stream to Twitch successfully. Channel is GreenGoo16 if you happen to stumble across me with other oo'ers like last night with Oct, the stream will either be up or be able to be turned on relatively instantly.
Oddly, I can't record and broadcast at the same time. I did see that Twitch has a neat little clip editor that you can use to take slices of your stream after the fact. Not sure how to save the entire broadcast yet though.

I just realized you can get a lot more matches in if you're willing to be one of the first 10-20 to die each time. Hell, even if you're unwilling.
Bad. Morning.

Switching weapons just got me killed. I was gonna die anyway, but in the time it took to switch weapons, my target came out of cover and fired. It was only a second, tops.
It was still the right decision, I either switched or reloaded. It was a small break in firing and I had been ambushed so I was not fully prepared.
Hilariously I'm driving along the northern coast, far from anything. I see another jeep sitting around and think nothing of it. I hit a gully and my jeep goes airborn so I lose control of it for a few seconds. I crash into the jeep just sitting there and suddenly I'm under scar-l fire.
The poor guy. I'm sure he thought I had spotted him and was trying to drive over him. Instead, I was just out for a Sunday drive when I accidentally lost control crashed into his parked car. I hope he took impact damage.
At least I hit him once before dying.
It was still an ambush from my perspective.

To fill a car, sit in any seat, go to inventory, right click on gas can.
That's it.

Cripes, my heart is going nuts... Another 2nd place finish, but I actually had two kills this time... the 8th place guy and the 3rd place guy. I died from the gas. I just couldn't crawl fast enough! The winner probably never saw me.

You know, day has been mostly crappy, but then I crept up behind a dude while he was looting the second story of a building and I executed him with 1 shot from the revolver. So my day was looking up.
And then I died to a guy with a vector while we were in an open field. And I never saw him. Day not so good again.
So I just watched the video of my death, and I'm not being incautious. I'm scanning left and right, I free look behind me, I free look in the direction the attack comes. A bullet hits and I'm prone, I look left and right across the path I think the bullet came from (and it turns it it was) but don't see anything, so I'm crawling for cover, I'm looking, I'm looking, I don't see anything. And then I die from close range rapid fire. After I'm dead this guy crouch/runs up to me and looks my corpse.
I wonder if he was just sitting in the grass 5 feet from me the entire time, except when reviewing the video, I still don't see him.
Frustrating.
Edit: On the plus side, the plane obscured my footsteps up the stairs behind mr. execution style. Was kind of a perfect storm. Only pulled the trigger once.

Just hit top 3 with 5 kills, but it ended with the circle out in the middle of a field with the other two guys already positioned in what little cover there was. I just ran out of room.
It's amazing what something like a 8x scope even on a M16 does for your situational awareness as you move across the map. I also bumped my resolution down from 3440x1440 to 2560x1080, and the performance gain makes it almost responsive. I just don't have the hardware to push this game so high.
The pan. It saved my life at least twice.

Running cross country, racing the circle. Buggy tries to drive over me, I dodge, I don't even pull a weapon until I know what he's gonna do, he drives off. I try to see if where I lost sight of the buggy was inside/outside of the circle, decide it doesn't matter as the dude was driving perpendicular to the circle radius, keep running.
10-15 seconds later I get dinged. Go prone, look around, fire off a random shot because maybe suppression is a thing (it's not), get dinged again. Circle eats me. Rank #50. That's been my entire play today.
I *tried* to pick a fight with a guy I saw drop 1 house clump over, but he was gone. That's why the circle ate me, I wasted a lot of time clearing empty rooms.

My next 4 games had me dying either in the process of looting up, or being killed out of nowhere. I never fired a shot.
The 5th game I forgot what game I was playing and jumped out of my speeding car...

Just hit 2nd as well. It was one of those central areas of a town where there's a circle of broken walls surrounding an open courtyard. I just didn't realize how quickly the gas hurts when you're down to that small an area. I got stuck trying to jump over those stupid 3 inch crumbled bits. #3 and myself both died by gas, so somewhere out there is a chicken dinner winner laughing his ass off.

I've read that the damage increases with each subsequent circle and it increases when the blue line meets the white, meaning it does less when closing and ramps up when it is closed.

So I just shot an afker/lagger in the head. I don't feel anything, although when I came across him I did hesitate for a fraction of a second with a 'wtf?'
He was standing in the middle of the street with his weapon drawn, not moving.
I'm currently prone in a wheat field as I type this. A vehicle just drove by.
I'm still alive.
edit: 4th. 4 kills. 3 legit, although when I win a firefight my first thought is "you are terrible" because I won. I need to work on my esteem.
died to sniper fire from between me and the circle. There wasn't a lot of room at that point so I'm not sure how he got here without me seeing him. I had just killed a dude that was close enough to the circle that I figured I only had to watch from 1 direction.
Here's something I did that was more outside the box than in, I think. Peek my head though hole in exterior wall, see dude. Dude sees me and takes a shot. I duck down. To my left is a building but it's outside the circle (which is stationary, I had just come in from the field.). I check my health, I'm good (was pretty beat up from earlier fight, but healed up almost to full), I run into the building, find a firing solution, look down scope (2x on my m16) and pull the trigger twice. Yay for GreenGoo. He was about...I don't know. 50m away? 40m? Far enough that the 2x scope allowed for headshots where without it they would have been body shots.

It's fascinating how my perceptions differ from reality. For example, the dude I headshotted while outside the circle, he never saw me nor took a shot, he was a sitting duck. There was a shot very nearby, and I mistook it for a shot at me. Also, I do go outside the circle but am back inside the circle when I take my shot. The circle splits the building and while I'm in there I'm not taking damage. I didn't notice at the time. My scope is centered on his throat, but I guess we're less than 100m because it's a headshot (See, I learned about this zero'ing thing!).
Also, he's more like 25m away, not 50m.

Lol, great start. Decide to play more aggressively, as 20 minutes of looter-sim then restart is not cutting it.
Land with 2 others. they are both on the ground before me. One is scared/avoiding confrontation so I take advantage and charge upstairs, grab a 1911 and go hunting. I find the other guy in the second story attic of another building. Unfortunately he sees. Semi-interesting gun battle, but he panics retreats to reload and I shoot him in the back. Turns out he only had a kar, which would have been great for him if I were 100m away, but were were in a small space and I had a 45. I loot his body, so much good stuff. I felt like I was reveling in his remains, but I only had the handgun and barely anything else (and nothing useful for that stage of the game) so finding a fully equipped corpse that I made was awesome.
Less than a minute later I put 2 in the head of the other player while they were distracted by something. This is MY farmhouse.
Shortly after that I start my cross-country trek only to be unceremoniously turned into road kill by a jeep. Lol?

You'll all be happy to know that yes, I can hit the head of my target, as long as they aren't moving, firing back at me, or farther away than about 20 feet.
Also, punching a guy in the head who isequipped with a shotgun and wearing a motorcycle helmet results in 3 xp points.

And on that note, I felt good about punching an unarmed woman to death. So there's that.

You forgot one.
https://pubg.me/player/Rackminster

I picked up the game Sunday and played for a few hours. I've only Solo'd so far, though. 12 rounds, 8 kills. I've placed 6th and 9th, but only through luck and was taken out very easily by people once they saw me.
Some highlights:
- I know vehicles are bullet magnets. That didn't stop me from getting on a motorcycle and speeding across the country until I saw a cluster of buildings with doors closed and I assumed it was safe to dismount. I went from well outside the safe zone to well inside it in record time. Too boot, a couple of people took shots at me,
but I was moving too fast to get more than grazed.
- At the end of my ride, I wrecked the motorcycle and it caught fire, so I ran - but someone in a buggy came up to inspect (maybe he had been chasing me?) and I stopped just behind a wall near the bike. He must have assumed I had moved on after he got out to check for my body, and I was able to collect his inventory and upgrade my gun.
- After that, another guy came hunting for both of us and while I was laying prone and working out my items list, he walked right past me. In fact, he probably had to step over me. I can only assume he thought I was a corpse, and the box I was laying next to was my piñata. It was pretty easy to search his inventory, too, since I don't think he was expecting me to rise from the dead.
- In the school right after the start, I found a lot of great stuff in the pool area - but couldn't carry it. I heard someone running my way and ducked into a classroom to wait for them to pass. He didn't and started exploring the pool area. Knowing he was about to start salivating, I stalked out (crouched, sneaking) and rounded a corner where I promptly slipped and fell into the pool. He didn't notice that, though, and as he was collecting his Medkit and M416, I dumped a clip of 9mm SMG ammo into him.
I did a little happy dance when I discovered he left me the backpack and armor I desperately needed, and I got to leave with my Medkit and M416.
- I spent an inordinate amount of time stalking someone looting a compound. I followed him in, but as I got there, he was leaving the first building, so I ducked out of sight and went to flank. By the time the flank was done, he was already running to the next building, so I flanked again. I prepared an ambush for him when he came out of the third building, but he didn't. I peeked around the corner and he had closed the door, to a small shack. I assumed he was playing with (his inventory) so I snuck up,
opened the door, and emptied my Vektor into him. He never got to get off a single shot. It turns out there wasn't much of anything useful in those buildings I looted by proxy.
- In the quarry as the circle was closing in, I was on the high ground and people were driving from left and right to get there. I kept spotting them in the distance, but too far off to shoot at. I assumed they'd have to come from the valley and peeked out over the edge while laying prone ... to discover someone was laying prone just below on a different ledge. He had a lot of bandages and a few grenades, but nothing else I wanted. I ended this round in 6th place - gunned down from two directions when I dared to peek over a hill to see where I could go (the blue wall of death was about to engulf me).
- So there I was, with a combat shotgun, and watched someone run into a small building to loot it. I snuck up to the front door and thought I might surprise him. He was only in there for a second, and we met each other right in the doorway as I was going in and he was running out. A shotgun blast and a couple SMG rounds echo'd around the farm - he was down and I was at 50% life.
So far the wall hasn't managed to kill me, and I've only been caught outside it once, and took about 15% of my health in damage before I got into safety. I'm constantly on the move, pushing in at a generally spiral-y movement and only directly into the safe zone if I'm pressed for time or there's a very clear path. I've been killed a couple times by people I couldn't see and have decided that taking cover behind a tree when I don't know where my attacker is must be really amusing for them "Look at that idiot, crouching there and giving me a good shot at the side of his head!" I've yet to succeed at killing anyone more than 10 yards away; I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with sniping, but I'm doing it very wrong.

I swear I have been in your spot in most of those scenarios except the other guys, looks up, kills me with one to the head and goes back to his business after scoffing at the pittance on my corpse. Played two this morning before work. Never made it out of the initial drop area either time (and I never drop with a crowd).

Great write ups. That guy who came hunting was me, btw. Except on my screen the outcome is different.
I had that exact scenario last night except I'm the 3rd guy. I'm in the hospital for the first time (I think I managed 2 grid squares during my drop, I might have figured out horizontal movement, finally) and it was pretty lonely. A jeep rolls up and I've got it in my sights, but the driver is a wizard, because he's disappeared. I start to sweat, because the jeep is 10 feet away outside the window I'm looking through, and I can't see the driver. I start making my way to the end of the hall (think hospital, so long halls with tiny rooms off of it) and come into a little entranceway/alcove. It's a small room with an (OPEN!) door leading outside. There is rapid fire right on the other side of the door/exterior wall. LOUD. I see an AKM kill notification that corresponds to the shots fired. I hunker down in the corner, the doors hinges means it opens inward so I'm "hiding" behind it. And I wait. I've got my UPM9 on auto, and having gotten a close range kill with it earlier, I'm feeling semi-excited/stressed. Here we go, I think.
But I have no patience for this sort of thing and after about 15-20 seconds of no show, I exit the building. I scan right (the direction of the fire), then left, then right again. I see a loot box and what I think is a corpse 20ish feet away. The prone corpse twitches. Weird. It rotates around like the dial of a clock. Really effing weird. It points a gun at me. that ain't right. So I aim my ump9 at the only part of the body I can see and thus hit, it's head. The corpse must have already been hurt, because somehow I win this one.
Note to self, try not to go prone when enemy is within 25 feet, it makes things worse, not better.
I also got an m16 with 4x scope sniper kill from the hospital rooftop in the same match, later on. That was cool. It was just like you'd imagine in all your PUBG dreams. Dude comes flying in on motorcycle, but heads to a building aways off (70ish m?). He has cover from lots of angles except the important one, mine, so I have a clear shot at him. I aim down scope, center on his head, and pull the trigger. He's still up. I do it again, he's panicking, searching for his aggressor, trying to get something between me and him. Ding, ding, ding. Is this guy ever going to fall? Ding, there he goes. I can count on 1 hand the number of times I've had a clear shot at someone while looking through a scope, and not all of those were kills. Felt pretty good, although taking so many shots felt a little like failure.
I never did get a chance to loot him, he was like I said, 70m from the base of the 3-4 story building I was on the roof of, and then the circle came in a little later and ate him up. I was already well geared so there was no point taking circle damage just in case he had something decent. I was already seriously geared up.

Thanks to this forum, I've been careful about my drops. I spin the camera and watch people jump out and keep a rough count in my head. Usually about 1/2 way through the flight I jump with a vague idea in mind - and refine my target as I go down. I try to avoid "juicy" looking starts, like the school, military base, or any city. I aim for remote 3-4 building compounds. I hold "Alt" as soon as my chute opens and scan around for other people and watch where they're headed and try to place myself far enough away to get a building or two for safe loot and then I go in the
opposite direction away from them. I've gotten pretty good at landing right in front of doors. I have no idea how some people seem to race down faster than I can, getting down a good 5-10 seconds before me.
I
really like having an assault or sniper rifle and an SMG. I run through open areas and scope possible targets at range, then when I'm clearing buildings I've got the SMG on full auto. A shotgun doesn't go amiss instead of an SMG, but I like the bullet hell I throw out of an SMG more.

So far, I've only gone prone in grass and behind rooftop walls. When that guy walked over me, I was in tall grass. I don't see much point on bare dirt and prefer to get the hell out of there instead of laying down.
I do struggle with the inner loot-whoring demons learned from years and games past. I'm getting used to the concept of "good enough" and "that box isn't worth dying for" and am learning to completely pass on places where I see doors opened, and often find myself second-guessing the value of even trying to go into a small cluster of buildings where one door has been opened but the others are closed. I assume that means the area is being actively looted and I have to decide if it's worth the risk for a kill.
I bought a crate with $700 from last night. I have a dandy long-sleeved blue shirt now that will help me stand out in a field of green.
