Tell her if she can get the spas to honor years old gift certificates, I've got around 5 she can have. No charge.

I've given up trying to get my wife to go to a spa by herself. When I offer to pay for her and a friend, she also declines.

Sucks.

My wife is a mother, man. Ain't no eye-gouging needed for that.

I'll probably send my mother the standard "Hey thanks for shooting me out of your vajayjay and not letting your bastard 3rd husband kill me" bouquet.

I was hoping you knew I was just teasin' ya.

Everyone keeps telling me to send my mother flowers, but I've always thought that was a worthless gift. I think I may just send her a gift certificate for a theater near them as she and her husband love going to the movies.

Snow? Really?

I just love it when Mother Nature plays to the Canuckistani stereotype...

Ditto. I'd rather take my mom out to dinner (but not on the worst day of the year to eat out) or do something for her or maybe find something unique for he scrapbooking. Sending flowers, when that obligation was implicit, was the worst and it was made the worstest when you had to do it for a prescribed event that made it an expensive chore of substandard gifting because expectations. "Look. Expensive stuff, full of hassle and devoid of the meaning of thought, that will is now worthless and will need to be thrown away in two days because you're worth the hollow gesture by prescription of the capitalism." Reason many why I fail at stuff. I seriously can't empathize with any of it and prescriptive gifting seems to be part of the human condition. It's the best a 9 year old because that's a nine year old's gateway to stuff. After that, not so much.

I woke up rather cold this morning. Apparently the overnight lows were around 30(F). Not so good when you turn your heat off and open all the doors...

As a thank-you gift for the stuff that my MIL does around the house (in addition to the rent), I got her a 23andme profile, as she'd previously stated an interest. She was thrilled. My mother responded favorably to the story and expressed an interest as well, so she gets one for Mothers Day.

The rest of you are on your own.

Apparently $20 off for Mom's day. How meaningful is the membership?

Mom is into scrapbooking. I don't know how much she'd be in to the DNA mapping but it could be interesting.

They'll get half of that discount back from you for S&H. :hawk:

I have absolutely no knowledge of what 'membership' gets you. I thought the profile was the product.

My wife's best friend wants us to join her for a Disney Cruise next year. My wife was excited that the dates coincide with our kids spring break. $4200 for a 5 day cruise, with airfare it will be close to $6k.

There's a wide variety of room sizes and locations available. If the kids will fit in Uncle Scrooge's Steerage, you might be able to save some cash.

I suggested to my wife that it would save about a grand if I stayed home.

The main reason her friend wants someone to go with them is because her husband is staying home. She has two girls exactly my boys ages. They'd be a matched set.

No worries. She sent it off last week, so I'm sure I'll be more informed of the process once it comes back in.

Interesting situation. Sure you will have a good time, there is always something to do on those ships. We loved our Disney cruise, no kids though and it was just us two.

I've come to the conclusion that you can't have a cruise without explosive diarrhea. At least that's what the news tells me.

I'm somewhat amused that you think it is happening. ;) I'll be less amused if it does happen. :?

I love cruises. Haven't tried Disney Cruise line, although they do get great reviews, from both kid and adult perspective. But they are very expensive and rarely have sales and promotions; I have plenty of other more adult-oriented ships and itineraries to pick from.

If I were to pick a cruise, I'd be more likely to select an Insight cruise.

Sadly, while those do look really interesting, I don't make enough money to sign up. Not at this time. An extra $1600 just for the seminars... ouch.

The conference fee is $1,575 and includes seventeen (17) 60- to 90-minute seminars — plus each speaker will do one Q&A.
<$100 per conference if you hit them all. But yeah, that's pricey.

Of course, the odds of me ever being able to make one are slim to none.

If I was willing to drop that kind of money, though, a Galapagos Island cruise would probably be my first choice.

If I were to take a cruise again I would want to see something amazing... Alaska, Mediterranean, something completely different. Not more of the damn Caribbean.

Ahh the Med. Sigh.

What about a European river cruise?

Did one Caribbean cruise, have no interest in going back. I've done 2 Alaska cruises and several European cruises, both northern and southern countries, and there's definitely plenty more to see. A river cruise is definitely on a wish list, but it's one of those things where you *really* need weather to cooperate. If the river is too low, they have to dock and wait for water levels to go back up. If the river is too high, the ship can't pass under the bridges, so again, they have to dock and wait. I've read reviews from people that spent more time on their river cruise being bussed to the next port or to the next tour than they spent on the actual ship.

Flowers are a good adult gift. They say what you want them to say and you throw them out after a week, so they don't create a clutter. Also, you have a vase to drink Harvey Wallbangers from, so there is a practical aspect as well.

And who knows what games won't work anymore. :x
I was in the middle of playing ESO and they shut me down to reset too.

Any chance Keith Urban will reprise his role for this?

Edit: obviously, you are all supposed to read that as KARL Urban. I was just...uh...testing you. Yeah, that's the ticket. It was a test.
