What show was that?
I think "True Believers" was Stan Lee's tagline way back in the early days when he was getting Marvel comics off the ground.

He generated a fan base from nothing, writing the "letters from readers" himself and making it seem like there was already a huge following when they had barely broken into the market.

My first guess wold have been Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, but from watching clips on Youtube, that doesn't appear to be true. He's listed as "Narrator" for 17 of the episodes, so maybe you're remembering a specific story arc that featured him narrating?

If you go to this site they have a few episodes where he is saying something close (but not exact) to what you are remembering.

Just had the displeasure of listening to a group of teenage girls listening to what I can only describe as a mix of Hank Williams Jr and Run DMC.

Ughhh, I am not looking forward to redneck rappers.

Crosby famously said "If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of my teeth." When I went looking for his exact quote I found out that he was riffing on "If I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself," which has been attributed to Eubie Blake and Mickey Mantle, among others.

That was the Marvel Action Hour...ran for two years starting in 1994. Stan Lee opened the show that consisted of a 30-minute Ironman cartoon, followed by the Fantastic Four. I loved the show and watched it every week Image

An example of his intro..."Greetings culture lovers!"

That was the one I was thinking of. He was never on-camera in what I was remembering. Thanks!

Ok, now for some random randomness.

Is there a type of thin tape or similar adhesive that is double-sided with different levels of tackiness on different sides? I've seen scotch-type double sided tape, but it is equally sticky on both sides. I want to be able to use some to hold plastic bags closed (and then be able to open them and re-seal them on the same tape), but always need the tape to remain on side A when it is opened.

/edit - the good news is that that tape gave me the name I was looking for: differential adhesion tape. That'll make finding some much easier. Sometimes half the work is just finding the name for what you need - especially with hobbies like mine.

This reusable microfiber tape (AKA Hugo's Amazing Tape) may do the trick.

I've always found it to be remarkably useful for boardgame storage and organization. It makes for a vastly superior alternative to rubber bands, particularly for safely and easily securing card decks and such without causing any damage.

in a box of free stuff on the curb across from my place, there were a few PC games (with cases and manuals) - FarCry 3, Dishonored, STALKER: Clear Sky and Sid Meier's Colonization (with the Civ IV engine). i already have FC3 on Uplay and Dishonored on Steam, but i legitimately didn't own Clear Sky anywhere, so i was able to register the game Key with gog.com. Colonization is missing the Steam key, but i'm sure it's invalid anyways, so i'll give the box, disc and manual to someone who owns the digital copy only.

She does this every few months because she can't remember it from the last time.
Then she accuses me of lying about us having this discussion before.

Kind of interesting, no? I mean some of it could be the decline of religion but I think it outpaces that.

I know I have never wanted to be buried in the ground. I wish to be buried at sea or if that is not possible or too difficult then cremation is fine. But I thought that was just because I am strange.

My aunt was cremated, and my Dad, usually an easygoing guy, had some strong opinions on disagreeing with her on that preference. He's already obtained his and Mom's plots, and I think there's even some each for myself and my sister on deck. Of course, our spouses might have something to say about that.

Wife is adamant about being cremated, which will be awkward if she predeceases me because her family always, always goes with the standard Catholic funeral/burial. She is equally good at changing the subject whenever it turns to her own death.

For myself, I don't really care, since I'll be dead.

Within a ten miles of each other (and within 30 miles of here) I can walk up to my father's grave.
And my grandfather's.
Great-grandfather's.
Great-great-grandfather's
Great-great-great grandfather's
Great-great-great-great grandfather's

I don't really care, but I love being able visit all of those ancestors. I love that bit of history, and I take my kids to do it. I kind of want to keep that going, and imagining my own great-grandkids doing the same.

I found out that Amazon authors can "ditch" negative reviews by removing the book from publication, and republish it, thus getting a totally new part number.

I rated a particular author pretty hard because her books were totally inaccurate when it comes to military stuff. She chose to republish all 7 books under new part numbers, and all of my reviews are no longer visible. What's REALLY irritating is when I tried to resubmit review to the new part number, Amazon is not letting me publish the review. WTF?

With a new part number, you'd probably need to re-buy the book to count as a purchaser of that part number and be allowed to review it?

Nope, I had to DELETE the original review. Did it to a different book that was also republished just now.

Amazone doesn't mind you publish a review of a book that's not a "verified purchase".

Mine just rose from the dead today. The menu and FM receiver were still working, so I was still using it every day when going out for a walk. Today, even after generating a "cannot sync" error from the desktop client when I unplugged the charging/sync cable, it was able to access the stored music again after it powered up, and was able to sync with the client when I plugged in the USB cable. I'm not sure whether I'm looking at an intermittent hardware fault or a software glitch at this point, but I'm happy to see that it's not quite dead just yet. :)

Amazon's Kindles have super shitty micro USb charge ports. Had the $200 one go out after a year and the $40 one is now starting to fizzle on me after 7 months. I babied this one .Bought new cables. And its lasted even shorter time. ARGH. Do people buy these things new each year??

Just what the hell is a good tablet? aaahh CHEAP good tablet.
