With help from my brother in the form of Christmas presents over the years (including this year despite our agreeing not to exchange gifts), I think I have our guest bedroom close to being completed the way I want it. Any OO'ers are welcome to come visit, although Smoove may not want to. 🐙

General overview

Octo-friends

Bed detail

I've ordered a rug that matches the bedspread, and I think I'll probably keep an eye out for a cool octopus lamp or lampshade (I've seen some nice nightlights but no lamps/shades that I really like that are in my price range) and then I'm done.

The overlords wish you a good night's sleep.

I have GOT to stop watching stupid American videos.

Name a country that starts with U...Utah? Utopia?

What currency does the UK use? ....Queen Elizabeth money?

Put the pin on Korea ....Americans proceed to always stick it on Australia

What is wrong with our school system? How do these morons get through it and not know a damn thing? The worst part is they will ALWAYS be out answered about our own country for foreigners.

Everyone has people ignorant of certain things, and some particularly ignorant. I don't think this is unique to the US. We had a comedian up here who would go down to the States and ask questions about Canada and then it would play up here. Sure the answers were funny, but the entire thing felt like "see how stupid Americans are? Feel superior!" which is a crock.

Only two of the plush octopuses have names: Rally Al, who is a Red Wings mascot, and Pops, who wasn’t in the picture. I should name them all but I’m lazy...and my limited plush energy goes into the Sneetches.

You interview 100 people and keep the 10 dumbest, some of whom are playing dumber because they see the camera and want to make the final cut.

We actually have 2 guest bedrooms, so you're safe if you're ever in Longmont and need a non-tentacular place to sleep. :)

Ok this idea is too far. Dont want to watch a movie in a bed 50 other people in a dark theater were in.

You're missing out. Midnight showings of stuff like Labyrinth and The Room in a massive comfy couch room or similar are unique experiences.

When I bought tix to a movie with those reclining easychair seats last weekend, they tried to convince me to preorder popcorn, candy, and sodas, which they would then deliver to my seat at showtime. Theaters are finding more and more ways to squeeze maximum revenue from declining audiences, and audiences are getting lazier and lazier. But they're competing with people who would rather stay home, so those pampered moviegoers are actually the adventurous ones.

They managed to extract $38 from me for two senior citizens tix and a small popcorn at a matinee, so I reckon it's working.

That's the price of convenience. I think it's pretty cool. I still rarely go to the movies but I still think it's pretty cool.

When we go, I get popcorn only if someone else wants it. I won't go out of my way for warmed up Styrofoam doused in butter-flavored oil. If they sold some genuinely good, gourmet-level stuff, I'd have no qualms with the cost.

You have to find a better theater. Angels sing a chorus every time I take a bite of popcorn at my local theater.

Do they come and clean my teeth and gums afterward? I'd find the chorus a distraction in the theater but I'd put up with it if I don't have to sit through the movie with kernel casings stuck in my teeth and gums, neurotically trying to unwedge them with my tongue for the duration or worst trying to pick at them with my fingers as if my fingers were floss or a toothpick. If my angels are like popcorn specialized dental hygienists, sign me up.

Trips to the theater are preceded by trips to the dollar store for a bag of candy and a bottle of iced tea. It turns a $50 matinee back into a $10 matinee.

Matinees are a thing of the past here. There is no price break.

The almost new theater complex near me has matinee pricing. We usually go to 4pm Saturday shows where 4 of us get in for $40 +/- and then hit the neighboring brew pub for dinner.

Price breaks for matinees are small here. From like a $12 movie to a $10 movie. When I was young and theaters were cramped and uncomfortable, I'd have mentally justified bringing my own refreshments. But now that theaters have lounge chairs, that changes my relationship to them. Their courting my business and not treating me like cattle. If I need a snack or a drink, they've earned my extra $6 or $12. Unlike paying $9 for a beer (and being forced to tip after waiting 10 minutes in line for someone to turn around and grab that $9 beer) at a venue that's already overcharged to get me in the door in a cramped area to see a live show. If I could, I would so sneak beer in to shows so quickly...

They're still cramped here. In any case, it isn't about that for me. If I bring my own drink, I can see a movie now and then. If I have to buy snacks there, it doubles or triples the price, and that means I can't afford to go.

I almost got a beer at the last movie I saw (Star Wars), because I saw it at a cool theater with a good bar and beer selection, but I didn't want to have to pee in the middle of the movie.

We're old. It used to take a six pack and about four hours to break the seal. Now it's one beer and less than a movie.

A number of my coworkers now mix bar night and movie night into the same experience because the theaters here do that now. I'd be the same as you though. I'd just have to pee. I also don't relax with a beer. I don't hit relax with alcohol until I hit buzz with alcohol... Which is to say I'm a three beer minimum.

One beer is like having no beer
Two beers is like having one...

They used to say that was why you have three beer lunches. One beer would just make you sleep in the afternoon and two beers is like having one.

That used to be my approach as well, but dead salivary glands means that I can't go long without a drink. It also means that I can't see most films without at least two bathroom breaks.
