Shareholders of the soft drink company to get $103.75 a share
They will also retain about 13 percent of the combined entity
1/3 of the article
Spoiler:
JAB Holding Co.’s audacious effort to build a food-and-beverage empire, which already includes Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Caribou Coffee, has taken a surprise turn into soft drinks.
The investment firm’s Keurig Green Mountain Inc. business, known for its single-serve coffee brewers, agreed on Monday to take control of Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. The deal will pay $18.7 billion in cash to shareholders and assemble a massive beverage distribution network in the U.S., giving JAB’s businesses even greater control over how Americans eat and drink.
Dr Pepper Snapple shareholders will get $103.75 a share in a special cash dividend and retain 13 percent of the combined business, the companies said. The dividend is about 9 percent above where shares of Plano, Texas-based Dr Pepper Snapple closed on Friday. Existing investors in Keurig Green Mountain will own 87 percent of the new entity.
The deal vaults JAB into competition with the likes of Coca-Cola Co. and PepsiCo Inc., bringing a stable of brands that includes 7Up lemon-lime soda, A&W root beer and Mott’s apple juice. Keurig Dr Pepper, as the new company will be known, will have pro forma 2017 revenue of about $11 billion.
Combining the two entities will let the new company cash in on consumer trends that have drinkers turning away from once-dominant colas, said Bloomberg Intelligence Analyst Ken Shea. Though Dr Pepper has its roots in traditional soft drinks, it has added fast-growing upstart beverages like Bai Brands.
“It’s a deal that makes a lot of strategic sense,” he said. “Once it gets going and they can deliver on some of the bold things they’re talking about here, this will be a really important benchmark that investors will use to compare Coke and Pepsi against.”
Dr Pepper climbed as much as 32 percent to $126.65 after the transaction was announced, marking the biggest intraday rally since the shares were listed in 2008. The stock had slipped 1.5 percent this year through the end of last week.
JAB, which is backed by the billionaire Reimann family, has been placing increasingly bold bets on food and drink businesses. At the same time, it’s shifted away from fashion holdings such as Jimmy Choo.

Mike Meyers hosted a whole season of the Gong Show on ABC in 2017 and I never noticed. Wow. Didn't he used to be one of the biggest names in Show Business?

No he didn't. That was Tommy Maitland.
Great. Let me amend, so Meyers, trying to be Andy Kaufman being Tony Clifton was Tommy Maitland apparently trying to be an English Robin Williams hosted a whole season of the Gong Show on ABC in 2017 and I never noticed.

30 Year reunion is apparently coming up. I know this because I was asked to join in with all the people from my highschool graduating class on FB. Hundreds of posts in a matter of days and recognize 2 people as people I had classes with whom I also don't really know.
This will have been the first reunion I have received "an invite" and now I guess I should be thankful I was <plonked> until now. It would seem the people I haven't talked to in 20 years that I would love to meet up with are as absent as I have been.

... Is this Mike Meyers?
I remember hearing about The Love Guru and concluding that Myers' talent had simply run its course.
Resurfacing as an unacknowledged deep-character game show host would be a kind of postmodern TV redemption if the show had any merit, but it sounds like it just doesn't.
I really enjoyed the Gong Show revival. Myers did a great job in the role of eccentric host and the celeb guest judges were usually pretty good.
The acts were hit or miss but that's what the show is supposed to be.

You'll be happy to know it got renewed. I'm just surprised there was absolutely no fanfare for the first season. I'm curious now. And with not paid for streaming service, I don't see a way to sate that curiosity.
I love working IT. I get to go to everyone's desks and share their germs. I feel like it sometimes doesn't matter how much I wash and sanitize.
Get a call from a site down the road and I'm told half the people around the caller are sick. Please let this be a remote fix. Please please please.

Dont be afraid to wear a mask. Hospital workers actually take a low dose of Tamiflu each day. I think the normal dose is 2 tablets a day and they take one.

It's not true, hospital may have them take Tamiflu during an acute in-house outbreak, but there's a nationwide Tamiflu shortage, so no one would be wasting it on thousands of healthy people just for general prophylaxis.
My company sells software to employee/occupational health clinics in hospitals, and I do tech support, so I know more than I ever wanted about hospital flu policies Hospitals are really stepping up their flu vaccination enforcement though...we have multiple clients that either suspended or outright fired hospital staff who wouldn't get flu shots or qualify for an exemption.

I used to have a coworker who worked a 2nd job as an IT desktop tech at Dish Network. He told us that every time he's called to someone's desk there, the keyboard would be so dirty, he would go through a bottle of sanitizer every few days, because it was just so gross. His hands were visibly dry and cracked all winter long, practically painful to look at - we kept offering him all our hand lotion!

I hate the way most lotions feel, and my hands are also very dry...
I stick to Neutrogena, fragrance free. It sort of ends up feeling like a wax coating over my skin that re-activates when I wash later.

Smoove would likely be the expert on such matters, but wny not just buy a box of disposable Nitrile gloves or somesuch for use in such situations? They'd likely provide vastly superior protection, without having to mess around with lotions and such.

There's only so much you can do an all it takes is for someone to cough or sneeze in your general direction and then it's plague city. I'd keep hand sanitizers handy, but I'd only use them a as a backup if going into a bathroom and washing with soap and water isn't an option. You also need to be militant about making sure that avoid touching your face, eating, rubbing your eyes, etc... until you've washed your hands. The glove thing (in theory) sounds like it would be a great idea, but in practice then you end up rubbing your gloved finger in your eye because you're so focused on the idea that your hands are now somehow protected. They are, but you're not getting colds or the flu through your fingertips.
Honestly, if you're working in a large office, spend time on mass transit or otherwise interact with the masses and you're not getting a flu shot, you're insane. Above and beyond helping protect the people that can get vaccinated, it's still your best line of defense and why the CDC changed their vaccination recommendations back in 2009/10. It's not too late - get vaccinated now!

Did you ever lose your water pressure and it was only you in your neighborhood ? you know because you asked. No wet ground or obvious leaks. So you crawl under the house and look. You dig up your pressure valve three foot under the earth.
And then you find out the everybody had lost the pressure for a few minutes but didn't tell you?
I feel like Sanford (Redd Foxx) holding his hand on his chest and raising his other hand in the air and saying "This is the Big One!"

A few surprises on that list, more with the rankings than with the contents. I find it hard to believe that more people hate EA than Cigna, for example, and I expected to see Comcast nearer the top. I've never heard an approving word for Comcast.

Some months ago I lost one of my credit cards. I knew it wasn't stolen... I'd just misplaced it. But despite searching everywhere, I couldn't find it.
After endless procrastination, I finally called in to the credit card company this afternoon to have a replacement sent to me.
I just found the card.
