My wife's uncle grew up in Louisiana and used to always ask for us to send him Tony Chachere's out to California. Evidently they don't sell it there.

They do, it is just the Louisiana culture growing on me. Misspelling things is a way of life here.

The second Rip mentioned Louisiana I was like "man, I haven't had gumbo in like 10 years, I'm so freakin' hungry and gumbo is so good..."

I especially like eating separately from my wife who insists on taking "a small bite" out of my food all the time.

I always eat from my wife. But even in the kitchen I prefer to stand and eat on the countertop than the table.

hindustan times
Punjabi pop singer Daler Mehndi was on Friday convicted in a 2003 human trafficking case by a court in Patiala. He was sentenced to two years in jail and was later granted bail.
...
The Patiala police had booked Daler Mehndi and his brother Shamsher Mehndi — who died last year — on a complaint filed by one Bakshish Singh. Around 35 more complaints, levelling charges of fraud against the brothers, came up later.

The complainants had alleged that the Mehandi brothers had taken ‘passage money’ from them to help them migrate to the US illegally, but failed to do so.

It was also alleged that Mehndi brothers had taken two troupes in 1998 and 1999 during which 10 people were taken to the US as group members and were “dropped off” illegally.
...
In 2006, Patiala Police filed two discharge petitions stating Daler Mehndi to be innocent, but the court had upheld that the singer be prosecuted as there was “sufficient evidence against him on the judicial file and scope for further investigation”.

In a depressive state today. Started using online and Google Earth to view the amusement parks Ive gone to as a young person. Not been to one not even local since I was 20. Whats great is Six Flags now lets you go down to the ground inside the park and walk around and its awesome. I remember the smells and the sounds...the heat and the water. I miss it all so much. Then I realized Im old and poor and Ill never get to go again to anything of the sort. Even if I could afford it I couldn't walk a park.

I died a few years ago I think. If I didn't I might as well.

EDIT: Also it strikes me as Im virtually walking the park.....why cant I online order from all those little shops? Not everyone can go to the park. Id love some of the items. High as hell I bet though.

My first visit when I was 16 was that way. Stayed at my buds house as we were going with his church group the next day. His dad came home and tossed up a quarter bag and we smoked until about 11pm. Outside on the playground then up on his roof. Then woke up at 5am to go and felt fine. First ride down there it hit me all over again . GREAT time.

Are all HR people technically and procedurally clueless and annoying whose primary purpose seems ironically to be to protect their own jobs or is that just in my limited experience? I've hit the point with HR (again different person again same tipping point again) that I can't talk to or about them any more because I can't be nice. I can't even be catty. I go for zero fuckin' pissed off mean and ad hominen often in less than a second.

"HR" doesn't serve employees. Their primary function is to keep employees from becoming problems for the company. Sometimes this accidentally aligns them with employees, like in cases of sexual harassment where they get involved so lawsuits don't happen. Other times they're willfully against employees and are quite okay with that as long as it's to the company's benefit. As such, there is no reason to trust or like them. It might be better to think of them as larval forms of lawyers that will never hatch and become genuinely dangerous.

There's a reason I call them Henchman Resources.

The department name is accurate. You are human, but you are also a Resource. You are replaceable.

My dog loves potatoes. He loves any type of them...baked, mashed, fried. Just now I had some spicy potatoes and Italian sausage soup from Olive Garden and Had given him a bite of bread and he wouldn't touch it. I sat him in my lap since I was done and there was a potato skin from the soup in front of me and he gobbled it up. Think Ill get hi ma potato and bake it for his Christmas :) Too bad they dont make a fully potato based and flavored dog food.

Random thoughts...

Every pee stream is like a snowflake...they are all different.

Have you ever gone to take a nap and not be asleep but not be awake either and think you are awake then wake up and are laying there wondering WTF just happened?? I had that a half dozen times just now.

An no thank God those two thoughts are not part of the same thing.

Why not eat octopus?
Silvia Killingsworth | New Yorker | 3 October 2014
In form and function octopuses are “far more distant from humans than the animals we tend to have moral quandaries about consuming”. But their intelligence is “well documented”. They have relatively large brains. They can open jars and deter predators; even “demonstrate personalities”. Here’s one way to think about it: Would you want to eat an alien? The octopus is “probably the closest we’ll get to meeting an intelligent alien”.
