Re: Fighting back
As someone living in a deep-red part of my state, we put up a blue flood light (nightlight) on our garage last Fall to try and "secretly" telegraph support for Harris; we still have it up and thankfully haven't been targeted in any way that I'm aware of. I like the idea of flying a Canadian flag though I'm nervous it's clearly more overt. I am also questioning my safety wearing a Leafs baseball cap in support of my favorite team - something I've been doing for years, despite what RM9 and Trent might tell you.
Maybe next year, maybe no go

We're going to Markey's No Kings in America rally tomorrow afternoon in Pittsfield. IDK what to expect since we won't be inside the theater, and it's going to be a cold and windy day...but I'm hoping to mill about with a few hundred like-minded people outside.
It will be livestreamed if anybody wants to check in.

Thank you for this suggestion. I am now planning to buy a Ukranian flag and hang it to replace the American flag I normally fly. And if/when I fly the US flag again, I will fly it upside down.

Yes. I mentioned it a while back, but I participated in my first strike a few years back and I was genuinely surprised at how energizing it was to be around people all there to support the same thing.Holman wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 4:58 pm It might feel like yelling into the void, but believe me, the sense of not being alone really helps.

Re: Fighting back
We arrived at the 2:30 start time to find a few dozen people with signs in front of the theater and a dozen MAGAts on the other side of the street. It was cold and windy so everyone soon went into the lobby/cafe, where we could watch the speakers on TV. The theater seats 658, but there were open seats in the balcony...so, maybe 400-ish people in there altogether. Speakers included (among others) Pittsfield's mayor, former MA governor Deval Patrick, the MA Dem Party chair, video appearances by the attorney general and Elizabeth Warren, and finally Ed Markey, who gave an inspiring stem-winder. Markey's theme was fight back, don't give up, organize. He invoked the long history of liberal activism in the state and in the Berkshires in particular.Kurth wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 4:50 pmLooking forward to hearing your impressions. I was expecting more of an outdoor demonstration. This was not that. Which suited me fine. It was just a couple of degrees above freezing with a stiff breeze, so I wouldn't have lasted very long outdoors. Just being in the presence of a lot of like-minded people was refreshing.

Should probably clarify why AWS:

Amazon E-Commerce Is A 'Loss-Leader' ... Its Real Money Is In 'Services,' Says Analyst
Id hesitate to call the eCommerce side a loss leader but if the analysts are correct, boycotting thst side actually helps Amazon's bottom line. Still sends a message but reminder that boycotts are complicated."Our view is that eCommerce does NOT drive AMZN's share price," Needham analyst Laura Martin wrote in a note Thursday.
"We believe AMZN is a Services company (ie, Advertising, Cloud, Prime Video, etc), NOT a products company, and eCommerce is all about products. Every quarter, we calculate a sum-of-the-parts valuation, and in most quarters we conclude that investors are paying almost nothing for AMZN's eCommerce."
She noted Amazon's net revenue for this year's second quarter grew 15% year-over-year to $86.4 billion, accounting for 58% of the company's revenue of $148 billion in a three-month period and growing four timers faster than product sales revenue.

In Philadelphia we have something similar: 109 country's flags are posted along the Ben Franklin Parkway, which runs from City Hall to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.Rumpy wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 5:33 pm In town we have a bridge called the Bridge of Nations and on each side of it are planted flags from all around the world; 82 countries to be exact. Some don't make the cut. There are 195 recognized countries in the world, but some of them are tiny single-island nations. Still, the smallest nation in the world (the Holy See) gets a flag near the Philadelphia archbishop's cathedral.

In case you can't read that story without a subscription, it essentially says that the theater was closer to full than I thought; only the second balcony was open, so there must've been around 600 people there.

Anything anyone says can be made into propaganda by any side through editing and commentary.
There are tens - probably hundreds - of thousands of videos on 'fighting back.' If I were going to dedicate an hour of my life to watching a video on that topic, it would be one from a trusted, reliable source.
You've posted so many videos that qualify as propaganda that most of us assume that anything you post (especially something that's 40 minutes long!) is just more of the same, especially if it isn't accompanied by something that tells us why you felt the need to post it, and discusses what made it meaningful.
And asking leading questions isn't making a point. It comes across as an attempt to manipulate the conversation to your benefit.

And there's nothing to prevent you from taking two minutes and typing up, "This is a speech Bernie gave about _________. I think he has some good ideas, especially _________."
There are a lot of videos posted here. Most of them don't interest every one of us, so we give people an idea of what we're asking them to watch, so that they can choose what's worth their time. It's common courtesy. After all, we're asking them to spend their time on something we thought was worthwhile.
You posted the video. It's up to you to tell us why we care.
Hint: I'm trying to tell you one of the reasons that you're getting such a poor reception. The fix is easy, but it's on you to make it happen.

Like what I wrote. Some of you are too lazy and like to be spoon fed. I posted a video. it is okay if you're not interested in it. But the video has a title that is clear about what it is about. You can also see Bernie Sanders.
I just thought people here are smart enough to figure out themselves about what the video is about from that.
It is in the title:

There are a lot of videos posted here. Most of them don't interest every one of us, so we give people an idea of what we're asking them to watch, so that they can choose what's worth their time. It's common courtesy. After all, we're asking them to spend their time on something we thought was worthwhile.
You posted the video. It's up to you to tell us why we care.
Hint: I'm trying to tell you one of the reasons that you're getting such a poor reception. The fix is easy, but it's on you to make it happen.
