I am still way off, even further now. Sorry guys. I don't really have the ability to treat this like a job while I am work. I will go back and rework this again going back to the end of hand 8 when I get chance.

OK all fixed now. I didn't go back and delete the quadruple post because I'm afraid deleting a post will crash the server.

LM,
I sent you an email through the OO system, but in case it goes to a dead account... PM me with a current email address that I can link to my Google Spreadsheet with my own accounting system. That can only help out if/when we end up with different numbers in the future. I'm all about reducing frustration here, not creating it.

Re: Single Table No Limit Hold 'em
Frankly I think you are doing a fine job LM. Mistakes happen and you have made sure to note that we should be checking your work. IMO if our chips are off it is on us, no you. You have fixed every issue that players (o.k., Meal) have pointed out right away so no big deal as far as I am concerned. Now about the cards I have been getting dealt though.....

Re: Single Table No Limit Hold 'em
You are a great help. I know my math is sloppy in general and especially sloppy when I am on the fly. There is no frustration in checking my screwups. If there were then I'd not disclaim to check my math. This is why I leave the cards at home and prep hands when I'm not doing other things and check and recheck and recheck that hand prep when I am not distracted by things like work. The Meal wrote:LM,

I'll look for the email as soon as I get a chance.

Re: Single Table No Limit Hold 'em
Just an idea from an observer for LM. If you have the space for it, I would think your accounting issues would be easily solved by pushing actual chips (or even fake chips) around a table with some note cards for each player.
I wouldn't be able to pull that off myself having three preschoolers in the house, but I would think it would be easier than turning the game into a big weird sudoku puzzle.
FWIW.

Re: Single Table No Limit Hold 'em
Had JC not been knocked out your cards would be different. (I don't know if they'd have been non suck, I don't actually pay attention to hands until after they happen other than to make sure I don't type the wrong keys). So you can blame Trent and JC at least in part. 25 cards are already laid out for the next several hands.
Actual chips would be huge helpful but I run this game from a lot of different spots.

I think that's a little bit low. That's just over 0.5% of flopping a flush, but I think the reality is closer to 0.8% (I calculated it in one of the many General Gaming threads).Remus West wrote:So I saw a thing on ESPN tonight that said if you start with two suited cards you have a 1/180 chance of hitting the flush...

There's a page out there that has a list of like 80 (or whatever) types of starting hands and what your odds are of "making your hand" starting with bullets and working all the way down to 72o. I'll see if I can find it...The Meal wrote:I think that's a little bit low. Nope. Can't find it but even more cool...

72 suited for example...
"Beer Hand"
The worst starting hand in holdem. It's called the 'Beer Hand' because it's either time for a beer; or if you win with this you need to get other players a beer; or only a person full of beers would play this hand.

If that's the case (seeing all five board cards), one would think the chances of getting the flush would be even higher.Remus West wrote:I believe they were talking about full hand not just the flop but I could be wrong and I wasn't paying full attention. The Meal wrote:I think that's a little bit low. PokerStove tells me that 72o has 34.6% equity vs. a random hand, and 72s has 38.2%. The suitedness gives it an addtional 3%+.

Re: Single Table No Limit Hold 'em
They are just talking about hitting the flush though, not winning the hand. A 72o might hit a fullboat, 2 pair, set, etc.... All of those hands are also true for 72s. The only hand they are looking at though is the flush.
Assuming nobody else at the table (say 8 players) has a card of your suit you would have 36 cards left of which 11 would be your suit. 3 of the five drawn need to come from those 11 cards. So your best chances would be on the turn and river since the drawing pool would be lower.
1st card of flop 11/36
2nd card of flop 10/35
3rd card of flop 9/34
or roughly 2.31% of on the flop.
If we do the last three cards filling the flush
3rd card of flop 11/34
Turn 10/33
River 9/32
or roughly 2.76% of the time.
Of course the odds of nobody else holding a single card of your suit are silly low.
At least I think I figured that correctly. Maybe we shouldn't clog our game thread with this though.
