Hands are out. Deadline moved to 7 pm so that I can begin processing and posting before 8.

Twitch is shut down. He begins turn 4 with no damage. Any damage administered to a shut down robot is present upon reboot on the next turn.

Supposing we do enough damage to him that he would have a register locked beginning the next turn, what card would be placed there?

Isgrimnur will confirm, but I'm pretty sure it's random. I'd assume that if register 5 was locked, the 5th card dealt would be to that locked register.

Once a register is locked, whatever was there stays there until such time as it can be unlocked and removed.

The basis of the question is that when a bot is powered down, all cards have already been cleared from the registers, shuffled back into the deck and dealt out. So if Twitch takes enough damage to lock register 5 while powered down, there are no cards there.

I couldn't the find it in the old manual, but the new AH manual has a "Locking Registers During Power Down" sidebar thingy:
Because robots can still be damaged during a power down, they can sometimes accumulate enough Damage tokens for a register to lock up before they reenter play. Registers that become locked when your robot is powered down are immediately programmed randomly: Draw a card from the top of the deck and put it in that register, face up.
So it sounds like the registers get programmed from the un-dealt cards remaining in the deck. Granted, it *is* from the new manual but it makes sense. Especially if Register 5 from the prior turn was a high Move 3 and it's already been dealt out to another player.

Right, but since he is shut down there are no cards in his registers. I'm wondering what happens if Twonky and I shoot stessier a lot this turn and he starts his "new" turn with a register locked. Not that I would collude to shoot him a lot but just say it were to happen....

I missed the directed nature of the question. Yes, if he were to come back in with a locked register, it would be a random card off the deck.

Hmmm, so I could say now that I'm shutting down next turn as well, right? Then whatever register(s) locked would be unlocked and they would start shooting away at the 4 top level damage.

Hmmm....

Yes, you can declare shut down for the second turn. But you are at 0 damage as soon as turn 4 starts, so any damage you take now will be against the top 4 damage. They would have to do 5 damage to you in turn 4 before they could lock your registers.

That would not have mattered since you would then have healed it all due to being shut down. By losing your damage at the start of the round I get to make sure you are damaged at the beginning of next.

Ok, let's see here. Squash Bot couldn't know which direction I'd be facing, but must have accounted for it in his programming. In fact, I think he's counting on it.

So I'm going to put a Laser Beam between his widely space eyes.

Let's see what you do with that move 2 in your second register now.

Not this phase. The tractor beam activates at the same time as the laser and it takes time to haul your iron-cast butt into the line of fire.
