Definitely getting this one on consoles. My PC would barely be able to do the minimum.

Jeez, games these days. My PC is only 1.5 years old and looks like I might barely make "high".

I'm good on everything but the video card. I built a new rig back in June in anticipation of this game but didn't have the budget for a new graphics card at the time.

Then, I lost my job and have been out of work since.
So I've been running on my 980ti until I can afford to get something new.

I do have a new job starting very soon but it will be a couple of months before I can think about getting a new card as I have an ass ton of debt that I need to pay down first.

I may just pick it up for the XBox One and then get it again later for the PC.

My PC has an RTX 2080 Super, so it should be good for Ultra without ray tracing, or somewhere between minimum and high with ray tracing.

I'm good on ray tracing, but only barely. I'd love to see some videos on how it looks on medium settings.

My PC is 20 months old and was pretty damn nice the day I ordered it... now I am thinking about buying a new PC.

The good news is my younger son would appreciate that as my current PC would be a significant upgrade for him... my wallet on the other hand.

Maintaining 3 gaming PCs is stupid! I wish my kids would get jobs already!

Thankfully, my monitor only supports 1440x900 resolution, so I don't have to worry about the graphics being too detailed.

I was going to say my 1440p monitor shows lots of details, then I checked the specs... yeah 2560x1440. I guess the other number makes a difference.

This is how out of touch I am on PC stuff these days. I used to be able to tell you the clock speed and throughput supported by my RAM and whether it was restricted by the motherboard and now I can't tell you for sure if the concepts I just stated even exist.

Oh yeah, that's the other thing. When I built my new system I gave my old system to the wife and it's been pretty good at running most things even though, since I kept my 980ti, I had to put and old 680 card in it.

However, her monitor just died so I gave her my monitor (144hz refresh, 27") and I've been using a 1080, 60hz monitor.

So, really, I need to get not just a new graphics card but a new monitor as well.

...

Why not give her the slower, lower rez monitor you ask? Mostly because I'm lazy as this thing is mounted on a monitor stand bolted to my desk and I don't want to invest in the labor to move it to her desk.

the 'Ultra' CPU recommendation is the one i bought as the best 'bang for the buck' option - Ryzen 5 3600. not bad for $180.

They exist, but that's not going to be your bottleneck about 90% of the time unless you're really cheaping out on the RAM or the motherboard. Most of the time it's either the CPU or the video card. I don't bother keeping up with the stats either - I buy my hardware upgrades so infrequently that I can count on an averaged-priced device on the market today in the category being an upgrade over whatever five year old device I have in my machine currently.

I'm glad I don't care much about graphics. I'm one of those people who look at a 30fps vs 60fps video and genuinely can't tell the difference. Adding to that my monitor is only 1920x1080. I think I'll be fine with medium-high graphics settings.

Thing is, I think they're banking this game on being fairly scalable towards the future. I think it could potentially be the next Crysis in terms of benchmarking.

Updated system specs including ray tracing. Also a ray tracing trailer. Man that water on the car window effect was something mind blowing many years ago. I remember how the view distorted in Bioshock when you walked under water and we were impressed.

I have a new PC build dropping on Tuesday. It was aimed at data science work and MSFS 2020 but it should be good for Raytracing Ultra on 4K. Looking forward to it.

Similar situation here... I *finally* managed to snag a 3090 to upgrade my rig, and really looking forward to diving into Cyberpunk when it arrives.

I looked at the 3090 but the price/performance on it was silly off. 8% improvement for more than double the price. Nope - not for me! But when the price doesn't matter always get the best. :D

I know it’s a bit of a splurge, but I do have business uses for the extra oomph of the 3090, so it’s not just for gaming FPS.

Fair enough. I wish I could pull that card...my employer got a lot of free 2080 usage out of me but I don't think I can get away with it.

CD Projekt assures investors that Cyberpunk 2077 is really, actually, definitely releasing December 10
CD Projekt released its third quarter consolidated financial results today, and there are two main points to take note of. One, The Witcher is still killing it: The company earned $28 million in revenues on the quarter, "mostly generated by sales of games from The Witcher universe," CFO Piotr Nielubowicz said. And two (and more important), Cyberpunk 2077 is still scheduled to arrive on December 10.

Another article from PCGamesN, Cyberpunk 2077’s DLC will be revealed after launch
One of the biggest games of the generation is finally upon us, and it appears people already want to know about about what DLC it’s going to get. However, developer CD Projekt Red has confirmed more details about Cyberpunk 2077’s DLC will be revealed after the game launches on December 10.

CD Projekt Red’s president Adam Kiciński revealed this news in a third quarter earnings call (transcribed by Seeking Alpha) this week. Though originally scheduled to be revealed prior to the game’s launch, the most recent delay meant the developers decided to hold onto the information until later on. “The initial plan was to do before release, but after the recent delay, we decided to wait for the release to provide gamers with the game and then start talking about future projects,” says Kiciński. “So, after release.”

The developers also touched on Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer mode coming in 2022 in the earnings call. “We’ll share our thoughts about next year once we will update our strategy, “ says Kiciński. “It will happen in Q1 next year, and that will be after releasing Cyberpunk and that will be the right moment to discuss deeper or all key aspects around future releases.”

The only thing we know about the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC is that we should expect more content than The Witcher 3 received. In total, The Witcher 3 ended up with two full expansions and 16 free content packs. Sounds like we can expect to be in Night City for quite some time, even after finishing the game.

After three delays, it’s easy to see why some people were concerned the game may not meet the December release date. Fortunately, CD Projekt Red’s Q3 2020 earnings report revealed Cyberpunk 2077 will not be delayed for a fourth time, with the devs reiterating the game will be launching in December.

There’s not much time left before Cyberpunk 2077 launches, so we’d recommend checking out our Cyberpunk 2077 character customisation guide to see what kind of character you can make. You can’t make a character without thinking about their clothes, but don’t worry, our Cyberpunk 2077 gear guide can help you out with that.

New article from PCGamesN, Cyberpunk 2077 PC release time confirmed – pre-loads start December 7
CD Projekt Red has confirmed the Cyberpunk 2077 PC release time. Even if you’re sceptical about the game actually launching on December 10, the fact that the devs have now committed to precise launch timing should help ease those fears. Plus, the studio has confirmed that you will be able to pre-load on December 7.

Cyberpunk 2077 officially launches on December 9 at 4:00PM PST / 7:00PM EST, or December 10 at midnight GMT. That’s a single, global release time no matter where in the world you’re located, and it will apply across Steam, GOG, the Epic Store, and Stadia. On consoles, the game will launch at midnight in your local time zone.

You’ll be able to pre-load the GOG version of Cyberpunk 2077 – which you can also pre-order via Humble – on December 7 at 3:00 AM PST / 6:00 AM EST / 11:00 AM GMT. Steam and Epic pre-loads will be available on the same day starting at 9:00 PST / 11:00 AM EST / 4:00 PM GMT. Xbox pre-loads are already live, and PlayStation pre-loads will begin “two days prior to the release date”.
Sweet, I get to start playing it almost a day earlier than I thought!

I was going to ask if there were any kind of pre-order bonus, since I don't usually pre-order anything.

Apparently for GOG, the bonus is only a discount on Cyberpunk gear in their store.

On steam, you get a short story and some goodies:

Get Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam to receive a short story written by our Story Lead, Tomasz Marchewka.

"2AM — She Calls" will show you the hostile streets of Night City as seen by Frank, an ex-NCPD officer working the night shift as a Combat Cab driver.

In addition, you'll also get a set of exclusive goodies including avatars, posters, and a wallpaper!

Since the game is going to release Wednesday evening at 7pm for me instead of sometime Thursday it will require some negotiations with the wife since from six-ish till ten or eleven is usually "us" time. Probably a lot more holiday decorations are going to go up in the next five days than I planned

I've been watching closely and from what I can tell, my aging GTX 970 might be more than adequate to run the game on high settings at 1920x1080. There's no real incentive to pre-purchase and I guess technically I could get a refund from STEAM if it doesn't work, but I'm actually considering jumping in. Trying not to get sucked into the hype. :D

I keep reminding myself that the Witcher games were so much better after months of patching and some DLC.

I really don't want to pay full AAA price for a game I might not play for a year or more anyway.

Yes, that's something I keep coming back to. Might be better to just continue to chip away at my backlog and let this go through a few rounds of patches, fixes and optimizations before considering it late winter / early spring. That being said, the developers deserve recognition for W3 and I would kinda like to at least support them on Day 0 for being such champions of PC gaming.

I had the same thought, but there's another factor. There is something immensely satisfying about playing a new game (for which there are no FAQs, guides, or archived discussions) at the same time as a group of friends. It doesn't happen often anymore.

Also true! I have a feeling this game is going to be gigantic in experience and the various stories and paths are going to potentially make it seem like we're playing different games at some point.

Trying not to get hyped...not working so great. :D

Here:
Booting up Cyberpunk 2077 with the 6 year old GeForce GTX 970 4GB looks like it will return a reliable 61 FPS. And those results are assuming a 1920x1080 screen resolution at High setting level.

Although Ultra 1440p might be a bit too much for this GPU, it would return 46 FPS on High graphics setting.

In summary, a good way to look at the performance with this GeForce GTX 970 4GB is to consider, do you want 1080p gaming with ok graphics settings or would you be needing 1440p resolution with bottom end graphics settings. Take a look at the following results to help you choose. 1080p Medium 90 FPS, 1080p High setting: 61 FPS, 1080p Ultra setting: 44 FPS, 1440p Low setting: 88 FPS, 1440p Medium setting: 69 FPS.
