I don't think they've said anything about pets one way or the other. There was some chatter about it a while back, but that was just wishful thinking due to a piece of concept art that included a cat.

I’m naming my character The Earl of Sandwich.

….or Sloppy Joe.

Not sure yet.
How about The Earl of the Sloppy Joe Sandwich?
Or first name Sloppy last name Joe. Actually...if I remember I might do that.

Not just me, my friend. There's a reason the Monte Cristo is often referred to as "God's Sandwich" by most culinary aficionados.

If I come across a Monte Cristo shipment in Starfield, I will consider the game a rousing success and will never play anything else ever again.

You're thinking too small. Imagine a planet where the Monte Cristo grows on trees...

These are all fine ideas, but none of them address the objective fact that Monty Crisco is funnier than Monte Cristo as a character name. :coffee:

Going back to Oblivion, it was our youngest daughters goal to steal every loaf of bread in the game.
She filled up an entire house with nothing but bread. To the point where the framerates would drop so low as to be nearly unplayable every time she entered that house.
We started calling her the "Bread Thief of Bruma"

The way I am justifying not buying BGIII Day One, which is one of my top 3-4 game franchises of all time, is that another top 3 franchise dropped at the same time (JA3) so by the time I play through that a bit, hopefully I will be ready to play a patched BGIII.

Edit: Scratch that. I had to click through the XP tab first and then it showed up. I closed my browser and tried it again...same behavior. If I click through the link above, no discount. Weird. The XP tab might create a cookie or something.

Don't hold your breath - Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 also aren't on third party stores (with the exception of DOS1 on Humble at one point.)

Larian doesn't do third party.

I'm talking about authorized retailers, not resellers or gray market keys that are innately risky (as a general rule, if Is There Any Deal doesn't include a site as an option, it's probably unsafe.) Larian does not offer keys to third-party retailers. If a store has keys, they didn't get them through the proper channels, which makes them risky (inevitable anecdotes aside.)

Starfield preload date and download size, according to PC GamesN. Seems weird that the pre-load date is almost a month before release.
Starfield preload date

Starfield preload is available now for Xbox Game Pass on PC, and the preload release date for other platforms is on August 9, 2023.

This information comes from a few online storefronts, including Amazon, which is offering an Xbox Series S bundle that comes with Starfield standard edition. The code states that the version is the combined Xbox and Windows 10 release.

How big is the Starfield download?

The Starfield download size is 125GB, but this may not reflect the total size of the game at launch, depending on day one updates and other unknown factors.

gamepass always does super early pre-loads. Possibly because their download speeds suck. :P

My assumption these days is that it would take longer to decrypt the preload and then download the day 0 patch than it would be to simply wait and download the game after it goes live.

From PC GamesN, Microsoft slashes Game Pass trial ahead of Starfield

Starfield is coming next month, and Bethesda’s RPG game is launching day one on Microsoft’s Game Pass service. This means that if you have an active Game Pass subscription, you can play Starfield immediately upon its release. If you don’t have Game Pass right now, you sadly won’t be able to check its benefits out for a dollar anymore, at least not for as long. Microsoft has just cut its trial period for the subscription service in half.

Microsoft's free trial offer for Game Pass Ultimate, which is now 14 days long

For prospective players looking to expand their game libraries, Microsoft offers a $1 / £1 trial for its Game Pass Ultimate subscription. The trial used to last a lengthy month, giving potential subscribers a decent opportunity to explore the service’s benefits. Microsoft has now halved that time, meaning that any new Game Pass Ultimate trial will last you just two weeks.

It isn’t the first time Microsoft has cut its Game Pass trial time, as noted by reporter Ethan Gach in a social media post. Nothing else is changing, though, as the dollar price will get you the same full catalog as before. You can check Microsoft’s website here to verify the new trial length or to grab Game Pass if you haven’t yet subscribed and want to. Despite the shorter trial period, you may find the service worth its price, especially with Starfield coming this fall.

I saw a few days ago an article where the devs said they expected the main campaign of Starfield to last about 40 hours. Does anyone remember how long the main campaign was for Fallout 4? My memory is hazy

The internet says about 30ish hours if you focus on the main story, and as many hours as you want to throw at the game if you don't.

Appreciate that link as well, thanks coop

I do hope Starfield can be modded similar to FO4/Skyrim, to bring longer life to it. That same website had Skyrim SE at 26/115/206 respectively. So about +34 hours for all storylines compared to FO4.
