It would not bother me at all if I never tasted a new thing for the rest of my life. I don't find adventures in food interesting. I have lots of things I enjoy available and that is enough for me.Yes, I might discover something I love, or I might be disappointed (or disgusted). I don't see the need to take the risk.

I have said this exact same thing to my family - word for word. If this is a Twins situation, I'm guessing I'm Danny DiVito.

This statement makes me sad but I will fight for your right to choose. Even if you still make no choice.

Of course. I'm not going to argue against someone's preferences. I will disagree that variety is overrated. That's something else entirely.
Truth is I eat whatever is in front of me. It's only after extended periods of the same thing does my stomach's eye start to wander.

My problem is I hate curry, ginger and garlic (except garlic bread), so I will venture into realms that contain none of those (except for super hot peppers).

Garlic = pizza, pasta, and most crockpot cooking.
Ginger = General's Chicken and Vernors (and I assume gingerbread cookies)
Curry = can we go somewhere else?

Ginger beer! (alcoholic or non-alcoholic, doesn't matter)

For the record the picture of Obama And Bourdain drinking beer and eating noodles is what pushed me enough to notice that I eat the same damn things week after week.
I want my regular diet to be a relatively small number of preferred foods, but I like to add something different in there now and then. Outside of my regular eating, there is nothing (food related) that I love more than the chance to try some food - especially unusual or ethnic - that I've never had before. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it, but I love the experience itself regardless. To me, life is about collecting experiences, and food falls into that category.

Up at 2:15 am to finish the second dose of gross green Gatorade/Miralax mix.
Colonoscopy at 7:30.
I'm choking down my 2nd dose of Superlax right now. My colonoscopy is at 8.
I'm scheduled for mine in a week.

I know you have a lot of people who agree with you, but I can't wrap my brain around this. Some of my best experiences have been going to a restaurant and asking for the chef's recommendation. I've had dishes that were just amazing that way, and finding new things is one of the great food adventures for me.

I gotta say: I called it "gross," but Gatorade/Miralax was not nearly as awful as I expected. The problem was more in the volume than in the taste. (I'm told the medicine was a much worse experience even ten years ago.)
The real issue is that you take a couple of strong laxative pills along the way, so every hint of a bubble of gas sends you running to the nearest latrine just to be safe.

My stepson and his wife like to come over once or twice a week and cook their supper and watch TV.
They usually leftovers for us. Sometimes the next day they come over and see all the food gone and are so happy with themselves because we ate the food.
We always brag about how good it it.
The truth it that if the dogs won't eat it we throw it away in the bottom of the trash bag so they can't see it. The dogs seldom eat it either.
But they just walk around with a beaming face when they come over and see the food gone.

Is there something for the bedroom...or any room.....that either repels or kills mosquitoes? They get in our house then at night while we sit using the pc and watching tv or while we sleep we get the hell bit out of us. I saw one a min ago flying and missed killing it. Now I have a bite and my wife has a bite. Little bastard/s .
Is there something we can hang or plug in to make them stay away or better yet kill them? A zapper or a sticky thing with attractant? SOMETHING?

We used to hang sticky fly traps in our kennel to catch flies. Don't know about mosquitoes. We have lots of bats around that keeps them under control around here.

We also used those yellow sticky tape things in our kennel ages ago.
We have bats. They come out in the evening at dusk. So fun to watch flutter and swoop around eating the wee beasties. Unfortunately catching one and putting it in the bedroom could prove detrimental to both our health and our wallet.

Nothing to stop a 'skito once it's in the house. They're not looking for high perches like houseflies, so traps don't work.
If it's a serious problem, you might invest in a mosquito tent for your bed or something just so you can sleep in peace.

They're attracted to carbon dioxide (what you exhale) and can also likely sense proteins in your sweat. Glue traps and light traps don't work. Those sonic repellents for rodent and insects are complete snake oil.
The overwhelming majority of the time, the mosquitoes are breeding from a local source (i.e. around your house). Clogged rain gutters, buckets or bird feeders, tires - anything that can fill with water and stagnate. They would normally breed in hollowed out logs or knotholes filled with a tiny amount of water, so finding something like a bird feeder or plastic container is much better. Elimination of containers and/or standing water is your best option. That and fixing window screens. I have hollows underneath my deck and of course when it rains, water puddles under there. If the puddles last more than 3 days? Mosquito central. I'd like to add a big FU to the former home owner for building a deck and not properly grading the soil - truly the gift that keeps on giving.
EDIT: I suppose you could also genetically engineer sterile males and release thousands of them into your yard and house. They'll out-compete the fertile ones, and eventually the population will die out as they'll be unable to reproduce. Probably just easier to eliminate standing water though.

Yeah, that's a valid point. You will hear plenty of zapping as you unleash galvanic death upon your mosquito horde. Then again, it's awfully satisfying to hear your vengeance unleashed...

Do citronella candles really work? I've tried them outdoors once or twice and I'm skeptical.

No. Citronella oil does work if applied directly to the skin (assuming you had a product designed for that type of application) but it doesn't have any impact on flying mosquitoes (at least at the concentrations you'd find in a candle). DEET and Oil of Lemongrass are your two best options in terms of repellent.

That engineering the sterile males seems like the best way to go. Are we talking lab equipment here or can I simply make the tools from pillow foam and dead skin cells?

For the first step you're gonna need a good paring knife.

It's more of a city thing (Ex. Charleston)
Sec. 17-97. - Peddling, charitable soliciting, busking and the selling of palmetto art products unlawful on private property.
It shall be unlawful to engage in soliciting on any property where a sign is posted that states "No Trespassing," "No Peddlers," "No Solicitors, "No Buskers" or words of similar import.
Thanks - I thought it might be. The key part there is that it has to be posted on the property. I've also seen some court cases where it matters how accessible the property is - like you pretty much need a fence around your entire place and the sign has to be posted on the outer gate. If it's just on your door and anyone can walk up to it, then it's not enforceable.
Now to see if I can find anything for my city.
If you keep answering the door in only a hair net they eventually just quit knocking. Are there laws against opening your door if your naked? Let's assume the neighbors can not even see your front door. I'd be happy to post a warning sign.

Was this a planned synchronization? If so, to what end??
"To what end?"
It's like Freaky Friday! But on Tuesday! And in your butt!
My results seem good. A couple of very small flat polyps removed. They'll be biopsied, but there's no immediate sign that they are dangerous.
Four polyps and some mild diverticulitis.
And lots and lots of pooh gas while waiting to leave.
I kept the pictures from mine and when friends visit I leave them under dinner plates before they eat, on their foreheads when they're sleeping if they're crashing at my place, and I have copies I put in their luggage before they leave.
You could put them all in a coffee table book and call it 'Spelunking in Hepcat'

Kidney biopsy tomorrow. Not looking forward to it although I'm sure it will be interesting to see them pulling out pieces of the transplanted kidney. And by pieces I mean a sample or two that looks like a small pink hair.
I've heard the worst parts of it are the sound the thing makes when it punches through your skin, and the local anesthetic they use to numb the stomach before using the punch thing. I wasn't really that stressed until I googled aftercare today and saw I'm supposed to lay prone and rest for 24-48 hours, only getting up to use the bathroom afterward (we have poker scheduled tomorrow!) and that I'm supposed to check with my doctor about when I can return to work (never crossed my mind I wouldn't be able to be back Monday morning as usual) and that I'm back to having weight lifting restrictions for another week after just FINALLY getting cleared to lift 25+ pounds. Hopefully this is all CYA stuff because I was really under the assumption that this was just a basic walk in, walk out procedure.

They sell a bunch of products but I don't know if any of them work. Visit a hardware store and you will see all kinds of stuff.

That is what they are doing here to try to eradicate the mosquito problem. We have some new strain here that is actually living thru the winter. Some agency releases sterile males several times a year. I can't see where it is doing much.
