Origins had a fun matchbox scale CarWars game the last 8 years....

Re: OO Boardgamers, what did you play this weekend?
I was actually enjoying watching the Grand Prix game at the last OctoCon. I just don't see our group playing it, or I'd have probably bought it.Chaosraven wrote:Man, makes me want to spend the night playing Saga, Revolt on Antares, Ogre, Car Wars, Melee/Wizard/FantasyTrip, geez any number of silly little Plastic Box paper map cardboard counter games. What was that one with the Insects harvesting the corpses from battle?
Edit:
Also CSI does not show MK in stock or shipping.
Edit:
However my daily check to my credit card shows it has been billed, which suggests they shipped yesterday.

Redwarlord worked for a game store for a spell and he gave me a bunch of these types of games. Most I've never played. Next Octocon maybe I'll put them up as prizes for a tourney of some type, or a raffle for the church that hosts us.

If anyone else is on the Mage Knight hunt, funagain.com is now listing it as in stock. $85 with free ground shipping.

Wow. Much happier with 55.99 and needing to get to $100 to get free shipping from CSI. I'm just not happy about the fact that mine hasn't shipped and the all of the statuses are still listed as pre order. I'm even a bit ascared. But I will watch their site this weekend.wonderpug wrote:If anyone else is on the Mage Knight hunt, funagain.com is now listing it as in stock. $85 with free ground shipping.

My copy of Mage Knight is waiting for me at Miniature Market (I hope!), heading over there shortly to get it. I'm told they had 48 copies and were sold out within an hour. Somehow I managed to check within that hour, apparently.

Agreed. I also ordered from Cool Stuff Inc. and I am constantly going to their website, checking to see if they have the game in stock.I'm just not happy about the fact that mine hasn't shipped and the all of the statuses are still listed as pre order. I'm even a bit ascared.
Unfortunately, CSI charges for your pre-order right away. It's listed on the website under pre-order policy. I was hoping my account being charged meant Mage Knight was coming soon, but no such luck. Also CSI does not show MK in stock or shipping.

Re: OO Boardgamers, what did you play this weekend?
Yeah. I read that today as I was getting ascared. I also read that they ship out games in chunks and that they hold some back, so I have no idea what they're doing at all.
This suggests to me that I probably won't do orders that involve pre-orders with them again. I'll either wait for them to get stuff in stock or pre-order from someone else... Which will leave me in quandry very soon as the Quarriors expansion is due out soon.

I'm planning to stop by my local store on the way home to see if they got one, just in case Funagain falls through (and so I can get a copy sooner). If I do end up with two copies, I'm happy to sell the other at cost + shipping to any of you if you get left stranded.

You could email them and ask. I emailed them to modify one of my orders and the response was prompt and useful.LordMortis wrote:Yeah. I read that today as I was getting ascared. I also read that they ship out games in chunks and that they hold some back, so I have no idea what they're doing at all.

My FLGS got 2, and only 2 copies. One was earmarked for someone, and the other I almost missed because they put it on a weird obscure table. But I got one!

I ordered from CCG Armory, but no word from them yet. I'm guessing some sites are just getting them sooner than others. Not worried yet.

Re: OO Boardgamers, what did you play this weekend?
Well, this was a switch up.
Turns out the group that initially spurned Galaxy Trucker likes it, but Rex was a total flop with the group. The strategies and mechanics seemed to have a lot of clarity and balance issues.
Clarity in that it was hard to tell exactly what should you be doing, and the balance issues in that certain combinations, and the whole alliance system led to stupidly powerful groups.

Re: OO Boardgamers, what did you play this weekend?
It's a pretty cheap con. I think day passes are only like 25 bucks. It's really a miniatures fest, but it's a bunch of fun. Tommy and I got to get in a game of Sergeant's Miniatures Game (still an awkward name, IMO) with the creator of the game yesterday morning. It was a bunch of fun, even though we both lost. I was really pulling for Tommy to win, because the winner gets to be added in as a character in the game. Even with losing, we did get to take one of the riflemen from our side home with us, including upgrade cards for them.hepcat wrote:When is that?Tommy20 wrote:Hep, you should totally come out to St. Charles for Little Wars. Re: OO Boardgamers, what did you play this weekend?
Well, I was thinking about getting MK, but CSI is being coy if I will get this round or some other round and MM sold out so fast that I missed that. I'm thinking about trying the CSI route, because that may work. Although I look at my unplayed copy of Star Trek: Fleet Captains and all the board games I have, combined with the fact I know my wife would hate MK... and I think it might be ok to miss it, despite how good it is. If I am going to solo play, it would likely be a PC game anyway.

I just got notice from CCG Armory that they won't actually be getting me a copy until the next printing. I put an order with CSI, but I'm no longer optimistic. This is really lame. Make me want to not even bother.

I broke down and did the same thing. CSI states as long as the pre-order is up, you get a copy. So I think they are going to get them soon. The next reprint shouldn't be long either, so I wouldn't worry.Chaz wrote:I just got notice from CCG Armory that they won't actually be getting me a copy until the next printing. Retail cost, or interweb cost? I might take you up on that if CSI fails me.

I think we will be fine. Unfortunately, I got a double order because of Paypal shenanigans. I half was tempted to keep it, but decided to contact them. All should work out.I messaged CSI just in case since I ordered after that day when it said out of stock and then went up for pre-order again. I put my order in 2 or 3 days ago also and they told me it would go out with their second shipment which they should receive in a week.
So no fears, it will come.

Q3 is what I read. So sometime between July and September, meaning probably October in reality.wonderpug wrote:I think someone found out that the next reprint will be in November.
I guess I'll give them a week then... And then I'm not sure I'll use them for a pre order again. The point of the pre order (for me) is to get the game in quickly after it is released. Now I sit here with uncertainty as to whether I'll get the game and as to whether I should try and get a copy from somewhere else, much less am I sitting here billed without a copy in my grimy hands.baelthazar wrote:I found this comment on BGG:Chaz wrote:Retail cost, or interweb cost? As it goes my original plan was to email them at the end of the day if my copy does not ship today. I'll probably be sticking to that plan.

Re: OO Boardgamers, what did you play this weekend?
I'm curious if anyone has played or is aware of a Mantic Games game called Project Pandora: Grim Cargo? It says it is set in the "Warpath sci-fi futuristic universe" which I've never heard of, not really being into miniatures but I am sucker for tile-based 'build as you go' games, which this looks like it may be.
Funny but being old as dirt the first thing I thought of was an Ares magazine game that I loved back in the day: The Wreck of the B.S.M. Pandora.

I liked Miskatonic as a filler game. There is really no strategy to it as so much is reliant on chance but it is silly enough to be a fun game.Chaosraven wrote:Remus West, LordMortis, redrun, bb2112, and I got together and played (Some Roman Conquest Thing), Star Trek DBG versus the Borg Queen (AND WON!), and Miskatonic School for Girls (very silly).

That's my thought process, in general. That would be even more the case Cronkilolelelehehoo. And that's mainly because it's not a small board game in a box. It's a parlour board, the you are likely leave out taking up more that a few square feet in your house, like a mini pool table and even putting it away would be like finding a spot for a folding table.Chaz wrote:Even though it's a really good price, I still can't wrap my head around $100 for a board for a game I've never played.
