Ohh ouch, I just started watching A Girl and an Astronaut last night and fear it may been a mistake. Talk about cringe. I think this might be a Polish/Russian collab. Everything has this low-budget sheen to it. The premise boils down to this: Woman bangs two astronauts (cosmonauts if you want to get technical), both of them are part of a program selected for space training One of them ends up being the one selected for the mission, while the other is earthbound. She marries the second one, 30 years elapse, and the first one is announced as presumed dead, but he comes back and hasn't aged one bit. Once that happens the woman is then torn between her husband and the younger guy who just came back. Very little sci-fi involved, more lusty drama shenanigans.

Thanks! Never heard of Freevee but I can tolerate ads because I have a mute button. Added to my list.
Endless was at least as good as Synchronic and I'm now a fan of these two writer/directors. I like time travel stories in general and they have a unique take, smartly written and presented. I think Endless would benefit from a second viewing knowing wtf is going on.

Also, Freevee didn't show me any ads, maybe because I'm a Prime member.
If you have Hulu, their newest film, Something in the Dirt, is up. And it’s even trippier than The Endless.

“Night Agent” a pretty good espionage thriller series - it’s been renewed for a second season. Reminds me a lot of series “24”.

Still pushing Night Agent, great espionage/conspiracy action thriller, reminds me of the old 24 series.

Just a reminder that The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die, the promised movie finale for the series, premieres tomorrow.

hepcat wrote: Sun Feb 07, 2021 1:40 pm It's wholly derivative, badly written, and overly long...but dang it, I enjoyed Space Sweepers. What started as a "let's see how bad this is" few minutes of viewing, finished with the end credits. I can't say I'm proud of this, but it entertained me.
Add me to the list of people who enjoyed Space Sweepers despite realizing that it's not very good.

The setting is poorly explained. The plot is excessively convoluted. The set design and CGI are incredibly busy. The acting is a real mixed bag. But...

The actor playing the captain is amazing - would watch her in anything. The actor playing the villain does a great job, rescuing a poorly written role.

The spaceship controls are the best spaceships controls I've ever seen on film - chunky and weighty.

The spaceships themselves are really well designed. Garbage scows in space.

The final action sequence is so much fun.

Just watched this and it was great. But I’m watching it I couldn’t help but think at times how much better it would have been as a whole season. But I love Uhtred as a character and it was good to see him in action again.

It was too good for this world...

‘Lockwood & Co.’ Canceled at Netflix After One Season
“Lockwood & Co.” has been canceled at Netflix after one season.

The supernatural detective series, which is based on Jonathan Stroud’s young adult novels of the same name, was developed by Joe Cornish under his Complete Fiction banner and debuted on Netflix in January of this year.

It starred Ruby Stokes as Lucy Carlyle, a teenage ghost hunter with a tragic past, who teams up with Anthony Lockwood (played by Cameron Chapman) and George Karim (Ali Hadji-Heshmati) to form a ghost-busting agency that specializes in dealing with deadly ghouls.

Variety understands that while Netflix was very pleased with the show, and especially the work that had gone into it, viewing numbers didn’t meet the threshold to greenlight a second season.

I found the concept really enjoyable, but the characters were just a bit too angsty. Just never went back after the third episode.

That’s too bad. The world building was the selling point, imo. As for angst, it is based on a young adult series of novels. It’s no more angsty than any other such endeavor, I believe.

More than Warrior Nun. I think that one hit the right spot, at least the first season. Haven't gotten around to the final season.

It's a tv channel. https://www.cwtv.com/

Known for a specific type of show. Usually involving very young people. And full of lots of angst.

Wiki says:
The network's name is derived from the first letters of the names of its two founding co-owners CBS Corporation and Warner Bros.

Forget about The Mother with J-Lo. Do yourself a favor and check out Mother's Day. A Polish film with the most badass mother in recent memory.

Absolutely. I watched it this weekend and I love the lead actress’ “everyone annoys me” approach. It had me laughing more than once. And the fight scenes are top notch.

I haven't been able to find anything to watch on Netflix in ages. What I want out of a series is to take me someplace I haven't been before. Those that do get cancelled after two seasons. ☹️
I am going to finish watching Manifest, but after that, I have better uses for 22 bucks a month.

I feel Sweet Tooth has done that for me. It's a pretty unique take on the post-apocalypse, and a 3rd and final season has already been confirmed. It's got a bit of everything, humor and heart, and some pretty dark shit. I like the storytelling and its sense of adventure.
Spoiler:
But damn, that scene with that alligator hybrid was some terrifying shit.
