Portland??? What in the actual fuck?
Meanwhile, police radio in DC has reported shots fired. Man, I hope these fiends do some hard time.
That's from July.
So is the National Guard there or not?

Just think now we'll have to go through this every 4 years.
Used to be when you had an election you had it and that was that for years. Now its all the political crap you can hear all the time.
I get the feeling all Trump lickers and these folks storming DC are all Type A personalities. Dumb and loud. Probably were all bullies in school too.
I don't think this is an every 4 years or will become a new normal type event. This is a singular moment where we either figure out we have a massive problem and address it headlong or continue to descend into chaos.

Remember when they gassed people for a photo op? Apparently not important compared to Trumpists storming the capitol and interruption of a constitutional activity.

I suspect Elijah Schaffer may come to regret that tweet. As the Malheur protestors learned, law enforcement can have a long memory, and DC may not provide as many sympathetic juries as Oregon did.
Right? I don't do a whole lot of criming, but I imagine that "Maybe don't tweet out evidence" is somewhere on the list of Don'ts.

And remember Lafayette Square. No hesitation clearing peaceful protesters on that day.
But due to what I would call a "failure of planning and imagination" it would be a bloody mess since the building has been penetrated and the "protesters" control the ground.
Something is gonna give though...

This. It's very embarrassing in terms of the security of one of our branches of governments. Were they manned by the French? (I kid, I kid)

Yeah, I should probably be more understanding and sympathetic to their plight. They're probably doing their best. But they better get help fast.

Getting peaceably ushered out by Capitol Police at the moment. Protestors bummed they "couldn't get strands of Pelosi's hair".
Did not actually get ushered out. However police in riot gear have arrived
and a stun gun (by the sounds of it) is being deployed (was not actually a taser; AFAICT no weapon has been used on protestors in this video stream).

Montgomery County MD units have arrived to help. I assume other local police units from surrounding states are on the way or ready to assist.
But because they've ceded so much ground to so many people it's going to be pretty dicey for a while.
This isn't BLM or Antifa. There's no talk of securing Federal property unlike Trump's proclamations of taking back our Federal buildings in Portland.
Trump is letting this go on. The 25th Amendment needs to be considered.

This is what I was thinking as I saw things unfolding. The racism and bias shows through in moments like these, when certain kinds of people get the soft treatment.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy was on CBS condemning the violence and says it's un-American.
He says that Trump needs to talk to the nation to stop this, but he ducks citing Trump as being responsible for this.

This may very well be the moment of truth for many of these trump supporting politicians. They know he can't win, but do they want to tie themselves to an actual coup attempt in the process?

This is not on them. Their top priority is protecting the legislators and their staff. Securing buildings is only a goal on as much as it helps their top priority. Once breached, fuck the building, get the people out to safety.

My hope is that no prosecutions happen until after the 20th. Otherwise I foresee Trump pardoning everyone involved.
