My kids have a pact that if one of them is going to have 24 hours left to live, they will rob a bank. They haven’t even played Grand Theft Auto yet.

Neighbor's big dog got loose today. Got to meet the owner. Seems like a nice guy but pretty frustrated with his dog.
Funny thing is he couldn't catch him but I could. He carried that big oaf in his arms back home. Didn't yell at him or anything. So I think he treats him right.
Fortunately I paid my grandson to install the screen door so we don't have to worry about "big red" getting in the house anymore.

I'm pretty sure at this point that it would be more original NOT to name it that.

I kinda liked Wu Tang Lan.
Ours is named Tardy's Party.
Tardy is our box turtle.
Tardy was also my favorite character on Greg The Bunny.

The weather man loves to talk about "heat index". It may be 98 but it feels like 100 degrees he loves to pop off.
I've been in 120 degrees in the desert. The heat index was probably 120 because there's no humidity.
120 degrees in the desert feels a lot hotter the 98 with a heat index of 120.
I guess it makes the weathermen feel more important that way.

I've been in Phoenix when it's 115F with no humidity and in Chicago when it's 100F with high humidity. Neither is exactly pleasant, but Phoenix is much more bearable to me. (Of course, Phoenix stays like that for months at a time while Chicago typically only has to deal with that combo of heat and humidity for a few days at a stretch before a cool front comes through.)

96 today with an index of like 116 . Humidity is super high so its oppressive and makes breathing tougher even.

Been cooling off here the last few days. Today is only 104.
And now having lived in the Phoenix area for two years now, I can definitely say that summers at 120 with no humidity is definitely more bearable than the summers at 105 with 80-90% humidity I left behind in Omaha.

I don't think I could deal with dry 120 at this stage in life but I think I could deal with dry 100 easier than muggy 85. My tolerance for heat keeps going down. I'm getting to the point that working outside in the sun at 75 means going inside to cool off hydrate rather quickly and often. That ain't right. I keep my AC at 75 when I'm at home and 82 when I'm out. I'd like to drop it to 72 but this summer's electric has already been insane on my pocketbook.

Heat index: gibberish, mostly uttered by TV weather-simpletons when they want to lie about the actual temperature.

Our local weather guy is great. Many years ago they started a 3 degree guarantee. If they missed it by more than 3 degree money went into a pot. At the end of the month they drew a winner. After a few months they had to change it because there was little to no money in the pot haha. They then made it get it right within 3 . And it was full of winning money. I think they dropped it all a few years back. I still think of it each weather cast and look to see the difference in predicted and real.

I've lived most of my life in three places. Two were desert, one routinely hits 85%+ humidity.
I'll take the desert any day. When you get hot in the desert, you get damp, and you cool off when you get out of the direct sunlight or there's a breeze. When you get hot in the humidity, you get sticky instead of damp, and neither shade nor breeze will cool you off, as there is nowhere for the sweat to evaporate to.
90 degrees with high humidity isn't like sweating in the desert. It is like soaking in a hot tub full of sweat.

As long as you don't plan on hoofing it from Sky Harbour to your intended destination, there's AC-aplenty so there's nowt to worry about.

How long will you be here? Long enough to grab something to eat one night?

My wife spent the summer with her cousin there right before we met in 87. She lived in Gilbert which basically is Phoenix. I think she still lives there but in Phoenix itself now. As I recall Donna said the heat was bearable without the humidity.
While it's undeniably important, especially for those who eat junk and hardly move at all, calories in/out can only take one so far. Our gut microbiomes, and their interaction with our immune systems and antibiotics, are shaping up as a large factor in obesity. I understand you're good at google so I'm not going to link this stuff; if you see contradictory evidence, please contradict me.
Oversimplified: Your gut has fat bugs and skinny bugs in a ratio determined at birth. Your immune system likes that balance and tolerates them both. But fat bugs are tougher, and insults such as antibiotics can wipe out your skinny bugs. Your immune system decides that fat bugs are its friends and skinny bugs are not to be trusted, so bacterial transplants from skinny people to fat people ("probiotics") only work if the immune system plays along.
At present, we can't do squat (heh) about our gut flora, so calories in/out is all we've got, and that works up to a point. But it almost always fades in the long run. Even if your discipline holds (doubtful, especially if it involves an unnatural diet), your body adjusts to and bypasses its new regime, because for most of our evolution holding onto fat was good.

Interesting, although not very encouraging; the greatest improvement was in already-lean individuals, while obese participants responded only modestly, and both groups returned to baseline when they stopped exercising.

That stands to reason, though, doesn't it? Why would we expect anything different?

Heat index is 106 by me. 96 plus 70% humidity makes it good and sticky plus take your breath away hot. I told my wife this last Sunday it was too hot to go swimming. I'd rather just sit in my chair in my boxers, thank you very much. She still went swimming...shrug. I guess the mild July we had was temporary as it's been pretty miserable for the last 2 weeks. I'm ready for Fall.

Because once a population of microbes becomes established, it generally takes some sort of shock to dislodge them, whether that means antibiotics or a change in their environment (temperature, acidity, nutrients, immune response, etc). The salient question is which of those parameters exercise affects; knowing that might explain why it's transitory...and ultimately how to make it last.

I can't find what I was looking for so I fund this instead, only I have no idea what their credibility is.

You mean I have to keep doing this exercise crap? They should make some kind of fun, possibly competitive, recreation that incorporates exercise so it isn't as crappy.
