Re: tesla motors
I guess now we know why Elon spent $250M to get Trump elected:
Trump transition recommends scrapping car-crash reporting requirement opposed by Tesla
Trump transition recommends scrapping car-crash reporting requirement opposed by Tesla
I will continue to treat Teslas as road hazards as long as FSD is available. The Trump transition team wants the incoming administration to drop a car-crash reporting requirement opposed by Elon Musk’s Tesla according to a document seen by Reuters, a move that could cripple the government’s ability to investigate and regulate the safety of vehicles with automated-driving systems.
Removing the crash-disclosure provision would particularly benefit Tesla, which has reported most of the crashes – more than 1,500 – to federal safety regulators under the program. Tesla has been targeted in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigations, including three stemming from the data.

What a ripoff! A new Model S comes with lifetime free supercharging. I replied to their email asking what about existing Model S owners? Fat chance.

Yeah, Tesla is the only car company to 'manipulate' revenue by *checks notes* tying incentives to buying new vehicles. Good call-out there.

We’ve definitely hit ‘offload some TSLA’ season. Fun fact—OG shares were trading over $7k this week accounting for the two splits.

Re: tesla motors
Tesla Recalls Cybertruck For The 7th Time Because The TPMS Warning Light Might Not Actually Warn Drivers
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the recall impacts certain 2024 Cybertrucks, 2017-2025 Model 3s and 2020-2025 Model Ys.
...
Basically, the issue is that the TPMS warning light on these cars might not stay illuminated between drive cycles. That means it could fail to warn the driver that their car has low tire pressure. That, as you may have guessed, can be dangerous and lead to a crash. Now, 694,304 Teslas are being recalled. Unless you’ve got a Model S or Model X, your car was hit with this issue.
...
To Tesla’s credit, it did seem to act rather fast after the issue was discovered.
...
In fact, this whole thing happened so quickly that the OTA update has already been rolled out. Impacted customers don’t really need to do anything else, but regardless, they’ll be notified by February 15, 2025. Would it have been better if this recall never had to happen? Sure, but at least Tesla did something right and fixed it quickly.
...
For those keeping score at home, this is the seventh Tesla Cybertruck recall of the year. It’s already been hit with recalls for faulty inverters, bad rearview cameras, pedals that get stuck, failing floppy windshield wipers, bed trip that could go flying off and an issue with the font size of certain warning lights.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Hertz Is So Desperate To Unload Tesla Inventory It's Asking Customers If They Just Want To Keep Their Rentals
Hertz bought a bunch of Tesla Model 3s for its rental fleet and quickly realized that Tesla depreciation would be extra bad at scale. In an aggressive effort to sell off its remaining Tesla inventory, the rental company is sending extra cheap buyout options to rental customers. If you like your rental, Hertz will sell it to you for an extra cheap good deal. One Hertz customer took to Reddit to show off a screenshot of the deal he got directly from Hertz, a 2023 Tesla Model 3 with 30,000 miles on the odometer for $17,913.

I do have a friend whose driving I trust less than Tesla auto drive. He sees multiple images, and has to choose which one is his reference. He used to drive a Jeep because it handled better when he misjudged the turn and went up on the curb. More than once.

Re: tesla motors
The true face of Tesla
Stunned, Zhang gazed at the deflating airbag in front of her. She could never have imagined what was to come: Tesla sued her for defamation for complaining publicly about the car’s brakes — and won. A Chinese court ordered Zhang to pay more than $23,000 in damages and publicly apologize to the $1.1 trillion company.
Zhang is not the only one to find herself in the crosshairs of Tesla, which is led by Elon Musk, among the richest men in the world and a self-described “ free speech absolutist.” Over the last four years, Tesla has sued at least six car owners in China who had sudden vehicle malfunctions, quality complaints or accidents they claimed were caused by mechanical failures.
The company has also sued at least six bloggers and two Chinese media outlets that wrote critically about the company, according to a review of public court documents and Chinese media reports by The Associated Press. Tesla won all eleven cases for which AP could determine the verdicts. Two judgments, including Zhang’s, are on appeal. One case was settled out of court.

Go get 'em, Canada. Tesla/Musk are now untouchable in the US.
Canadian officials are investigating an unusual spike in Tesla vehicle sales that coincided with the suspension of the federal EV rebate program in January. Over a three-day period, Tesla reported selling 8,600 vehicles at four locations across the country, resulting in $43 million in government rebates.
One Tesla location in Toronto reported more than 1,200 sales on January 11 alone, accounting for $4 million in rebates. These figures have raised concerns among industry analysts, who question whether the registrations were legitimate or whether Tesla knew about the rebate program’s impending pause.

Of course not. It's a grab for $40M of government funds for cars they couldn't sell.
