Im not sure of the dates now but years ago I had to start taking HP meds and Thyroid booster meds. I also agreed to a statin. I took them both a while. BP for a couple years and Thyroid a bit longer. But one day when I ran out I just didn't refill them. My BP was reading normal all on its own. I kept thinking my thyroid was still bad but didn't care.

This year though my BP was high again but my thyroid is perfect. Shrug. They gave me 3 different BP meds starting in April and a double of one of those to get it under control so I could have kidney surgery. Took weeks. After that was over I now only take 1 BP and 1 water pill. Both low doses. Thyroid is still fine. Im hoping by diet alone I can get my BP to normal and get off that.

Some may be tired of me mentioning the loss of my wife but I think that is what brought on my high BP because it was fine even late 2018. Then the upcoming surgery made it rise higher. Since thats over and the more time goes past me on losing my wife Im hoping my BP goes to normal. Dont know...dont care. After buying meds I have $8 now this month. So next month means no meds or perhaps just the BP and leave off my statin. Who knows. Frankly I am so close I could probably just quit all the meds. I dont care. Never bothered me before even when it was a lot worse. Get the feeling a lot of medicines are just money making crap.

Do you know whether that projection factors in the impact of climate change?
It does not. It's the UN forecast based on the anticipated demographic transition in developing nations.

I think crime and serial killings and such will limit growth. Humans seem to have a built in population controller. The more people there are the more bad stuff happens to them from other people.

This day snuck past me. Alarm woke me at 8am and I was up 15 minutes later. At 9am I was out trimming the hedges. Then I look at the clock next time and its 6pm. Not sure where the day went. Maybe aliens took me and its that missing time thing :) But really I dont feel like Ive been up more than a couple hours.

Violence, disease, disasters etc are a constant throughout history, though; if anything, they're declining over time. Even the 70 million deaths in WW2 barely bent the curve.

More pertinent is the demographic transition. Richer, better educated, more secure people simply have fewer children as each additional one becomes more of a liability than an asset. It goes like this:

High birthrate, low life expectancy >
High birthrate, growing life expectancy >
Slowing birthrate, long life expectancy >
Low birthrate, long life expectancy

That pattern is stable across cultures. Most developing nations today are in the second and third stages. Developed nations are all in the fourth; our populations would be shrinking without immigration.

Of course, projections don't account for a major plague or an asteroid strike or a supervolcano or something, but it would have to be a real humdinger to alter the long trajectory.

Have you noticed that "hang tight" and "hang loose" mean the same thing?

Hang on. Doesn't one mean "stay" and the other mean "relax"?

English easily gets hung up on prepositions.

I touched on this once before. I get the feeling a lot of things, but especially food, are geared towards more than a single person. Like deals at fast food are a lot of buy one get one free items. Or I see a deal when you buy 2 burgers. Recipes call for an amount of food just right for a couple but for a single person its too much. Never noticed this stuff before my wife passed. Was just a normal thing.."Hey a deal!" stuff.

Tonight I thought maybe before the good weather ends I could get some ground beef and have burgers on the grill. Haven't done that in a few years. Then thought nope Id have to freeze half the meat or half the patties. I cant eat enough to make up for another person.

I commented to Mrs Skinypupy this evening that I’ve been having a bit of a toothache lately and that I probably need to get it checked. I didn’t google it, I didn’t search for “toothache remedies”, I didn’t do anything other than mention it to her in conversation.

As I’ve been bumping around the intertubes tonight, there have been at least half a dozen ads for toothache remedies.

“They” are always listening, apparently.

I find in my olde age I can't do anything very well anymore except for one thing................I'm one of the world's top ten cussers. My variety and volume is seldom matched. When I cuss not only does my wife and dogs hide under the bed the neighbors do too.
I do practice a lot even in my olde age.

That is some next level Big Brother. Do you have Alexa or some shit? Are they listening through an idle phone?

It's like when I am thinking of some obscure song and then it gets played the next time I drive my Tesla (it had not been previously played). Just coincidence, but it makes you wonder.

2 things on setting up a new computer (not from an image).
  • Every time I see "Microsoft Edge" on the desktop, I've started automatically added "Lord" at the end of it in my head.
  • I sincerely hope Microsoft's snooping tells them that Edge is used just once - to search for and download Chrome.

Did you know that all salt is sea salt? It's just a matter of how long ago that particular sea dried up,

Interesting notes on salt:
1. An Indian company recently created a round salt crystal that won't cake.
2. Frito-Lay has a proprietary crystal that provided the same flavor with 80% less salt.
3. About 70% of manufactured salt is used to produce chlorine.

Week 2 of my post hernia surgery begins and we have a new winner for best excuse to leave work early:

"I...I'm going to take off a little early."

"You okay?"

"My pants are too tight."

"What?"

"Pants too tight."

"Sorry, I couldn't make that out. What's wrong?"

"My pants are too tight, alright. I'm sore and my pants are too tight!"

"Would that go under 'sick' or 'sexy' on your time sheet, you think?"

In Vegas tonight and decided to brave the Strip for dinner.

One of those mobile billboards drove by advertising a “zombie burlesque” show. This town is hilarious.

I could people watch here for days.

Some place called Beer Park right outside the Paris hotel. Had an elevated bar that overlooked the Strip so I could watch people walking by.

Good burger and an even better peach ale. :)

I just had to open my CranGrape juice with a pair of channel locks. My right index finger knuckle and all the knuckles on my left hand plus it's wrist...hell the entire left hand....are still F'd up from that fall in the end of Feb this year. They hurt all the time, swell, dont feel like they fit right any longer, and the bones feel out of place. The knuckles are like if all of them were loose and super jammed too. Doctors say it looks ok except for certain places and if its not healed by now theres nothing they can do. I cant use my hands for a lot.

I was hoping after my kidney surgery I could get off pills but I eat Tylenol and prescription ibuprofen like PEZ all day every day. Thousands of mg of each. F'n world. I hate it. It seems to hate me too so we're running even right now.
