I would think so since GOG doesn't use any DRM

I hope so! That's why I picked that option.

So might be a dumb question here, but I'm not a backer. Does that mean that I have to wait longer to get the game? I've already pre-ordered it on Steam, but I keep seeing people throw the word backer around, which I'm not.

I've still got a day to wait, and the game is staring at me in my GOG library.

I backed at the lowest level ($25), so it looks like what I ended up getting is a special backer skin for a Shadowhawk, two desktop wallpapers, a 10% coupon for the Paradox Store, and the game. The main benefit seems to be a discount on the game.

The game is releasing for everyone at the same time, so you wont need to wait any longer than the rest of us.
Pre-load should begin sometime today and release/activation tomorrow.

Nope, you get it with everyone else.

I'm in the same boat. We have about 28 hours left before we can play.

Just got my key from Fanatical. Has a pre-load been confirmed? Without one it may be Wednesday before I actually get to play.

Gotta finish up work today, but I took the next two days off to hopefully enjoy me some Battletech (with perhaps a short detour to try out Frostpunk).

The biggest question, as it always is before a big release like this, will be what to play tonight when all I want to do is play Battletech. :)

I apparently picked the GoG option, so I'll have to start up the download as soon as I get home on Tuesday, and hopefully by the time I can actually use the computer it'll be done.

I can confirm pre-load has started. It's an 8.6 GB file, so for me that's only about a 5 hour download.

While we're all waiting, here's a link to a good Steam guide on the tactical battles. Has some good UI information in particular that I wasn't aware of before reading.

We should post our download times for the file. But that would be mean....

I got my Steam key earlier today through Green Man Gaming, along with a free copy of War Tech Fighters. Installing BT now, may give away WTF, but I'll look at some Let's Play videos first.

You all suck right now. Like, bad suck.

Stuck at work, won't be home until 6 or so. But hey, it'll be ready for tomorrow, so I guess I can wait one more day...

I'm going to be on the other side of the state tomorrow, so no gaming until sometime in the evening :(

The good news is that it is a book buying trip :D

My computer is in a part of the house where there's no ethernet port so I need to rely on a WiFi connection unfortunately. So I won't be getting a 3 minute download.

Uggh, 14 minutes. That took forever...

Back in the eighties when I would be going to NASA Houston on business I made a point to make stops at any nearby Half Price Books. I still have a few of their bookmarks.

Last update was December 1st, when Harmony Gold filed an "amended complaint" despite plea from HBS / Piranha for summary judgement.

https://www.pcgamesn.com/mechwarrior-5- ... rmony-gold

YoutuberLaw (Lior Leser) looks into the matter

TL;DR -- HG has no leg to stand on. HG relies on its license from Tatsunoko, but according to arbitration and enforced by US court, Tatsunoko's licensing rights (from BigWest and Studio NUE) was limited to the animated series Macross, not to the underlying characters (and mech designs). Thus, any claims HG has would be, at best, limited to the anime.

That hadn't stopped HG from going after ANYONE who licensed the characters from BigWest/StudioNUE though.

EDIT: oops, missed another update. The lawsuit was dismissed 4/9/2018, but only against Harebrained and Jordan Weisman. It's expected other defendents may raise the same defense.

Don't know if this particular video has been mentioned/highlighted, but I found that BATTLETECH | Beginner's Guide - 10 Essential Tips in about eleven minutes gave me a nice grounding on what the hell I should be doing on day one. I've been rather not watching videos to avoiding spoiling the surprises, but this one gives me some assurance that my own preconceptions of how the game will play are reasonably correct.
