Well it's late evening over here in Skyrim, and I'm going to bed. But if you can keep your pants on until morning, I'll pop by and vote out Lassr if you guys haven't already.
Fair?

Re: Fight for the Future (ww) - Day Two
It's weird that you can't see it from my angle. It's like you are a child telling me that if I buy pizza for dinner tonight, you will maybe (or may not) agree to let me make chicken for dinner tomorrow.Lagom Lite wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 5:13 pmHey if you want to DEFINITELY lose, go ahead. If you want a chance to win, watch us fumble about for a while first.
I just don't think you realize I don't care so much, and I know you have no other path to even eating dinner really - if I don't agree.
Let me explain that better, because I'm not 'calling you a child'.
I don't care if I lose all that much, because both of my teammates have been dead from the start. I will make them happy if I can get our side any victory or even just give it my all, but I really won't be letting anyone down if I don't.
It's you (or whomever) that wants to hold out for some super-special victory (and you keep glossing over it, but YES, you would be removing my chance of any win - not offering me some 'chance' tomorrow).
That's me.
You though, you are three active players that have all earned something and each has one another to answer to.
That's why I feel like it's odd for you to try and push for this pizza. Just let me make the chicken dinner. Maybe we'll get pizza tomorrow. Okay?

OK. look I'll reduce to only taking out the garbage once a month! And I have filets on cedar planks ready to grill. I'll let everyone live! Just one vote on Unagi is all it takes. Chicken dinner, then?

I will say to Scoop, I think the Human victory condition was too difficult to achieve. We played an almost perfect game and still were far away from winning.
I also think the Wolf secret votes mechanic screwed up the balance royally.

Well, obviously, it wasn't too secret of a vote. Had no idea the vote would be public. I went back and searched the rules to see what I missed and it was not mentioned until you got to the bottom of the FAQ part. I missed that.Lagom Lite wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 3:01 am

Did seem like a rule set for a much larger participation game. My secret vote was pretty useless with so few people, because it becomes too obvious who's doing it, with the way the rules made you use it.

Cyborg Hunters WIN!!! Humans Lose !!! Woot.
Just kidding.
It's was a weird game. Losing both teammates combined with 2 wolves being abscent on Hyperday-1 made it clear to me (not 'clear clear' - but pretty clear) who the two remaining wolves were - and hence who the human team was.
And the listed role order - was exactly the player sign up sheet. (not sure on bot order, actually)

Sorry was AFK for so long. Bought a car today. Told us they hadn't sent the money we wired and finance person wasn't in on the weekend. EVENTUALLY they found the money and we got the car. Doing them a favor by not leaving a google review.

Re: Fight for the Future (ww) - Day Two
The End
Dr. Vortex appears amidst a maelstrom of swirling light and digital particles, the very air buzzing with electricity. "Ah, brave and cunning survivors, the moment you've all been waiting for is upon us!" He pauses for dramatic effect, a smile flickering across his holographic face.
"The Humans have done it! They've amassed the pieces of the time portal code, and as Night falls, they could simply eliminate the last standing Cyborg Hunter, Unagi. Thus, it would seem that our 'Fight for the Future' has been won...or has it?"
The air grows cold as Dr. Vortex leans closer, lowering his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "You see, all you've achieved—every alliance, every betrayal, every code pieced together—it was all a simulation!"
A hushed silence falls over the room as Dr. Vortex's eyes gleam like twin stars. "The REAL 'Fight for the Future' will be unveiled soon in an epic 'New Game Plus,' coming soon to a gaming forum near you!"
"And don't get too comfortable; the stakes will be higher, the challenges more grueling, and the alliances more treacherous. Will you dare to partake?"
He steps back, arms outstretched. "Congratulations on surviving the simulation. Prepare yourselves; your true test is yet to come."
With that final revelation, Dr. Vortex vanishes, leaving behind a room abuzz with tension, anticipation, and the very palpable sense of adventures yet to come.

Re: Fight for the Future (ww) - Human's Win
Game Moderator's Restrospective
Oh, the number of mistakes made in this game boggles the mind.
First: let me state that I made the biggest mistake. I was so busy having fun with the rules and after Dr. Vortex mind-linked me from the future, that I forgot to randomize the roles for each player. What this led to was roles being assigned to players as they joined the game. I'm lucky we're all so rusty that no one noticed until the game was out of reach.
Second: there was a massive stew of powers that players used liberally, leading to several same-team kills. Frankly, I hadn't expected so many blind attacks, but then again, I wrote the rules, so I understood the implications. Others did not.
Third: players really didn't understand the power of the time portal codes and their use. Also, Newcastle started the game with a time portal code but missed it in the role assignment PM I sent him. Yikes.
Fourth: the game moved too quickly. I was sure that the lack of knowledge would lead players to carefully share info and offer to make alliances to gain more knowledge. That didn't happen. In fact, the presence of two secret votes pushed Lagom to really push hard to vote on the first day. It was over so fast my head was spinning.
Fifth and most importantly: THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!! I really enjoyed this game, and I want to thank Dr. Vortex for reaching back through time to mind-control me and get us back up and running with these games. I hope everyone will join the sequel.
I would really love some feedback. You're welcome to add your comments to this thread, but I've also put together a survey. If you have the time and interest, please fill it out: Survey Link

Re: Fight for the Future (ww) - Human's Win
I've been collecting these thoughts since my death
First off.
For the record LL did confuse me with Newcastle pushing, I got caught up in that and completely forget thst I originally understood what was going on and then ot just became a case of LL vs Newcastle not wolf vs cyborg. Even if I was a human or cyborg I was so caught up I would have voted for Newcastle anyway. It really became a case of LL CAN'T be lying which means hes good vs Newcastle pushing so he's bad. Once their back and forth kicked off I forgot that LL originally said that he was the alpha wolf. I knew he couldn't be the alpha but got confused and thought that he was trying to lynch a newcastle wolf. I did this to help prove that I wasn't a wolf and I got mixed up. I guess i have some braining to do.
Secondly, just to show how bad my brain can get.
1. Once I received my role, I had a BIG suspicion as to who all the other players were.
2. I scanned Holman due to my random number generator the 1st night and found out he was the scientist.
3. This increased my suspicion greatly.
4. Once the night deaths were revealed I was now 99% certain who everyone was.
5. I suspect Unagi figured it out on day 2 I think.
6. For those that don't get it still, scoop made a mistake. He didn't realize that he forgot to randomize the roles. The roles were given out in the same order that we signed up. Scoop confirmed th8s when I PMed my lust of whos who and he seemed shocked that I not only knew hut that my list was in the same order as his. He didn't realize the mistake until I pointed out how I knew.
In conclusion between LL lying and newcastle pushing. I got so caught up that I forgot I was the alpha wolf and also forgot that at that point I knew who everyone was!
I also didn't call out LL on his lie because in the beginning I didn't think it was smart to reveal myself.
So LLs lie DID trick me, just not in the way he thought. It's also why he didn't suspect me as the alpha.
Also, even though I don't remember all rhe old rules. This seemed worse because there were a lot of differences i think.
I didn't realize that you just need 4votes during the day to lynch someone. I thought the day ended at a specific time and the votes were totaled. If I had processed that, then as soon as I got clise to dying I would have come out as alpha, posted hilmans confirmed role and posted Unagis 99% suspected role. Hopefully the remaining wolves would take out Unagi winn7ng us the game.
I DID have a sort of plan but got super turned around.
Also I can't belive that nobody made a luggage joke when Newcastle? revealed his code.
Also, also, sorry about posting after death. I truly thought you weren't alliwed to discuss the game and didn't think what I posted violated that. I'll try to remember ghost only in the future but can't promise that I'll remember.

Once you pointed it out I COULD NOT believe I did that.Punisher wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 12:07 am 6. For those that don't get it still, scoop made a mistake. Well, for me I'm glad you did. It gelt goid knowing that I could still figure out at least some basic things. Especially since I syarted figuring it out right when the roles were revealed.Scoop20906 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 12:33 amOnce you pointed it out I COULD NOT believe I did that.Punisher wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 12:07 am 6. Honestly if I hadn't been the first to sign up I might not have noticed.

Wait - Punisher was the Alpha?
I had a lot of fun this game, a real callback to the very first WW game I played in these forums - Scoop's first The Thing game back fifteen or so years ago.
I feel a bit bad for taking over the game like that. Like I said in another thread, I tend to get very obsessed with these games, especially the experimental ones, always trying to "crack" them as it were. When Scoop sent me the role as Engineer, I was kind of relieved, thinking I would cruise through the game, reacting to other players and throwing an odd protection order on peeps I thought seemed Human enough.
Then, I saw the Night 0 results. And did the math on how many votes the wolves could amass on Day 1.

Yep. So wven without figuring everybody's roles already, I at least jnew you weren't the alpha.
I didn't see any reason to out myself and got confused as soon as mewcastle started posting.
It then went from being non committed to lynching anyone to a "fight" between you and newcastle, then a fight between truth and lies with you convincing me that you were telling the truth even though a part of me knew and forgot that you were claiming alpha. I couldn't process the 2 together. The only thing I processed was that you sounded truthful so with newcastle pushing for a vote I just automatically voted for him.
When you came out that you were lying, I was genuinely confused.
It was frustrating when I realized what happened but i laughed when you thought you has caught me. You did, just not for the reasons you thought. Thats why you never suspected me as alpha.
Welcome to my new brain. Enjoy the ride.

Also I'm surprised and glad that other than Unagi, nobody else figured out the role thing.
I suspect that becaise almost everyone expected then to be random nodoby else thought to look i to it.
For me i wasn't expecting anything so it stood out to me

Re: Fight for the Future (ww) - Human's Win
I found it odd how the kills were lining up with punisher a wolf, then me. I killed isgrimnur on a hail Mary that he may be the sniper which would give team Wolf the win. I kept thinking what are the odds the first 3 players are the wolves. Guess those odds are great when it is not randomized.
Funny thing is I voted to kill punisher night 0. I almost killed all the wolves myself. MVP!
Thought I was going to pull it off until I missed the secret vote is not really secret...

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Likr scoop said, i eas also surprused that anybody voted on night 0.
At that point I wasn't 100% sure who everyone was. I figured thst it wasn't worth the risk of hitting a fellow wolf.

Re: Fight for the Future (ww) - Human's Win
As soon as I was shown that the two night 0 kills were Cyborg Hunters ( )- the idea came into my head. I also, at first, assumed I was looking at just 'coincidence'.
I observed Stessier on Night 0, and was told that he had no activity. This told me that Moliere was likely killed by wolf, and that stessier was likely killed by Commander - making stessier the Sniper.
And when I saw the last three signups aligned with the last three listed roles - perfectly - it caught my eye. Then when Punisher was wolf, and Lagom claimed Engineer at the end of day 1 - I couldn't stop seeing it.
But really, it actually didn't matter much - as the events of the day also pointed to Issy and Lassr as wolves (in fact, it was that opinion that then made me conclude the list was not randomized).
