Shrink = mental health professional.
Shrinkage = theft/damage/wastage write-off line item.
Shrek = fictional ogre.
Shrekage = absolute destruction.

This is a rant about... wallets.
I am a front-carry guy. I NEVER put my wallet in my back pocket. And I don't like stuffing it full of misc membership cards. So basically I am a minimalist wallet kind of a guy.
My needs are pretty simple:
* One display side (for ID)
* One quick-access card (for the most frequently used card)
* Internal card slots for about 4-5 other cards for other uses.
* A cash pocket or stash or somewhere I can put some bills (coins are optional)
* A slim profile (thinner the better)
And I've tried almost a dozen wallets already. None yet fulfills every need.
Regular leather wallets: bi-folds are too big, trifolds are too thick and/or too tight and not easy to access.
Same with the "vinyl" "surfer" wallets (even the ultra-thin ones)
EZGO: comes close, cash slot, 2 sides holding up to 8 cards, but not slim enough.
Bandit: VERY cool and utilitarian, but it only has one display side... the cash clip side. No fast-access slot, really. Either cash or display, must choose.
Crabby Wallet: it's NOT designed for cash at all. Basically a pocket with an elastic band.
I've looked at a couple more options, and none of them quite do what I want. I've seen the Ridge wallet and their Chinese clones. Basically two slabs of carbon fiber or aluminum tied together by an elastic band. has two sided access, and may be slim enough, but must give up a quick access for cash. Can't do both.
What they need is something that combines Bandit with one additional piece of metal, and still use the shock-cord closing it uses now. With a separate "compartment", it can do all of the features I wanted, AND also gain RFID protection (as two pieces of metal will provide a faraday cage, preventing remote reading, without adding too much thickness.

I'm a side-pocket, classic leather bi-fold kind of guy. My one requirement is a small built-in coin purse so I can carry a few coins without them jingling around in my pocket. I had the perfect leather Mancini wallet, but then work issued me a cell phone.
Now I carry my personal cell in one pocket, and one of those horrendous phone wallets in the other. It struggles to hold more than about three bills and three cards. It's ruined my life. On one hand it's allowed me to de-clutter my wallet and move to some electronic cards. But I need to carry my bus card, debit card, health card, and ID. That's already one card too many. I'd prefer to also carry one credit card. When I need to do so, I have to jam it into the bill fold. I hate it. I can't wait to move on to a job that allows me to ditch the phone, or at least use my personal cell for work calls.

Leather tri-fold left rear pocket. Pocket knife and hand sanitizer front left. Change front right. Been that way all my life. My dad gave me this wallet for Christmas around 1992. Still perfect. The plastic holder inside has been replaced about 5 -7 times now I think.

Leather trifold right rear. Knife clipped to the front right. Keys front left. Phone clips to my belt. I haven't carried change since the early 90s. On the off chance I end up with change, silver gets stuck in the bag until I get home, copper goes into the 'take a penny', or just tossed in the trash.
I hate jingling. Even my keys are minimalist (house key, two car keys, simple ring.)

I'm not an Instagram user, but I'll check it out occasionally. I think I created an account there ages ago, but don't remember my password, what e-mail I used, etc.
Was trying to check out my sis-in-laws pics of my nephews this morning, and Instagram has apparently changed their site so you can now only view a couple images before logging in. Annoying, but whatever...I'll log in.
- Try an old password/login combo. Doesn't work
- Click on "Forgot Password", asks me to enter my e-mail.
- Enter my e-mail, it tells me "no such user exists"
- I think, "OK, maybe I never actually registered". I go to create a new account using that e-mail.
- It tells me that e-mail is already in use...even though it just told me "no such user exists" when I tried to recover the password
- I try creating an account using a different e-mail, but using "Skinypupy" as a user name. Tells me that user name is already taken, obviously by me (since I'm the only person in existence who uses that particular mis-spelling)
- I go back to "Forgot Password" and try to recover it using the Skinypupy user name. It tells me "no such user exists"...even though it just told me that name is already taken.
Y'know what? Forget it. Instagram isn't important enough to bother with this bullshit.

Ive had that happen on a site before. Annoying.
Oh keys! I always carried my keys in my front right pocket until about 4 years ago or so when I got a paracord keychain. Its about 4" or 5" long and I hang it off my right side belt loop. I kinda wish I had one of those steel cable ones that you can pull out and then it auto rewinds but eh whatever.

It's so weird that the ~10 packages I had coming from Amazon were all delivered without incident by the USPS but the one package that contained a laptop has gone missing. USPS acknowledges they received it 4 days ago, and yet they have no idea where it went. Amazing. Not the box of books. Not the box of toys for kids, but the one box that contained a laptop. What are the chances?

To Amazon's credit, they don't even blink. Refund instantly processed via chat this morning. It sucks mainly because it was going to be a gaming laptop for my daughter and I was hoping to have it all setup and ready to use on Xmas morning. Long gone are the days of building play sets or assembling toy furniture.

For pure minimalism, have you considered going with a money clip instead? The
Alpine Swiss Front Pocket Money Clip includes an ID window with a thumb cutout and plenty of card slots, and shouldn't be as bulky as a traditional wallet.

Close,
this one is a little more up my alley, ID and fast card slots, plus other cards, but the cash slot is not that easy to get into.
I think this
Kickstarter wallet may be the closest yet, except for lack of a display window... But there are stick-ons for that...

Ugh, ordered A Thing on ebay on the 13th. Estimated delivery on the 20th. Then on the 22nd I get a notice that it's shipping. I check ebay and they've 'adjusted' the delivery day to the 27th. Nine days to ship. Shipped after the original delivery date. I may be giving my first negative feedback.

Same thing here. Ordered something for the kids on Dec 10, estimated delivery on the 19th. Then delayed to 22nd, now showing 28th.

I'm OK with delays enroute. I'm even ok with delays in shipping due to that pesky 'reality.' But the fact that the guy didn't even bother to stick it in the mail until two days after it was due to arrive gets under my skin, as does the fact that my (polite, of course) request for clarification has gone unanswered.

The fob for my car is the biggest pain of all, can't pocket it or it sets off the alarm. I got a belt clip key ring for it and have been using that for a few weeks. Like it.
When I'm wearing a suit or dress pants though, the standard layout goes out the window and it's chaos.

I just watched the Eddie Murphy episode of SNL I recorded last night. I haven't laughed that much all year. It was like I was back in time. Seeing and hearing Eddie on there and his old characters. Its was all funny and a blast. Ive said many times that SNL hasn't been funny since the early 80s..I didn't see it much because I found it bad but when I did there wasn't even a smile. But tonight it was old times again.
I will say every time he used a louder voice all I heard was Donkey from Shrek lol. I bout rolled out of bed during the news segment when you can hear him off screen refusing to leave the stage .."Dont tap me you bastard Im not leaving!" hahahaha.

I used to LOVE getting the little in store sales papers from Electronic Boutique and Software Etc back in the 90s. I would read and re read them to plan my future gaming . Looking at this one the Maxtor 850mb hard drive caught my eye. I bought that exact drive around 1995 when the little 210mb WD Caviar in my first pc head ground onto the platter.
Look at that...13 mb/s transfer. I looked up a new Samsung 960 NVMe and its read at 3500mb/s and writes at 2100mg/s ! Fun look back.

I ordered the version with the cash strap, but also ordered the money clip component separately and added it to the other side...get the best of both worlds, with quick access to a card or two under the strap, and easy access to money in the clip. It's very thin, incredibly light weight, and RFID blocking... seems to be exactly what you want...

Back in the day, I wore a trucker's wallet. No way you can lose one that's chained to your belt. I used to say that a mugger would have to kill me to get my wallet, as if that were a positive thing. Eventually I became the last person in America who didn't drive a truck but still wore a trucker's wallet, so I graduated to a trifold, which I carry in my right rear pocket, as God intended, because I don't hate America.

At the very least, I need to be able to carry my credit card, two insurance cards, my ID, my son's ID and insurance card, and my bank card. That's seven cards. I could probably cut that down to six, but that's about it.
Also, I haven't carried cash regularly in probably ten years. Everything is a card for me. On the rare occasions I do carry cash, there's a good chance I'm carrying a fair amount, either taking it to the bank or withdrawing it for a specific purpose. I want something secure to hold it in.
I love the look of the modern 'minimalist' wallets everyone seems to have, but they just won't hold the minimum I need.

I actually mentioned Ridge Wallet in my rant, but it's kinda near the end.
My problem with the Ridge Wallet is you can really only have 1 ID / Quick Access card "slot" if you want to carry cash on the other side (using money clip or band).
My EzGO is almost perfect in that it accepts cash in the middle, while have card slots on both sides, so I can have ID *AND* quick access card. I rarely use cash, but I want some around, just in case. There are still places that's cash only. But EZGO is a chunk of plastic, not slim enough.
I've ordered a few other wallets off Kickstarter, we'll see which one I really like. Heck, maybe I'll start a wallet rating website. Or blog.
