And when it comes right down to it, I wouldn't be surprised to see a record number of faithless electors from red states that shift blue, leading to Congress determining who sits behind the desk.

And a Biden/Pence White House.
FYI, if the election goes to congress because neither got over 269 EV, Republicans get to decide both the President and the VP. The House determines the presidency, but each state gets one vote, and while the Democrats hold a majority of seats, they don't hold the majorities of a majority of the states.
So what you're saying is the House doesn't decide the Presidency.
The House does decide the Presidency under that situation, but not every Representative has an equal vote because each state delegation gets one vote. The Reps from Wyoming and Alaska each get 1/50th of a say, whereas each Representative from Florida gets 1/27th of a say towards deciding which way their state's single vote (of the 50) goes.

William Jeffress, a lawyer who headed the vetting of Biden during Barack Obama’s vice-presidential search, said he oversaw a team of nearly 10 lawyers who spent nearly two months digging through records and interviewing dozens of people about Biden. He said Reade’s name never came up, so they never spoke with her.

“This kind of complaint — not just Tara Reade, but any kind of complaint about Senator Biden on sexual harassment — never came up,” he said. “We just never had an occasion to interview anyone on an accusation like this because we found no such accusation.”

Tara Reade now says the complaint she filed against Biden didn't mention sexual assault or harassment. She has no record of whatever complaint she did file.

She just cancelled a Fox interview that was planned for tonight.

It’s fascinating watching Trumpers latch onto this accusation, given Trump’s own history.

I get that cognitive dissonance is real and self-awareness isn’t exactly their strong suit, but...come on.

It's not just Trumpers. The NY Times is calling for the DNC to run an investigation into the allegations. And somehow make it apolitical which sounds to me to be a impossible task. That was published yesterday so maybe they'll get introspective and update that since it is crumbling in real-time. Nah...they get tetchy if you bring up 'but her emails' still. They can't even admit they blew that massively out of proportion even after people showed them the ridiculous stats on it.

Bonus to them saying...yeah Trump has allegations too but he doesn't take it seriously...and Joe is holding himself to a higher standard...so by implication we are holding him to a higher standard. Remember to hold on to your britches, this year is going to be a shit show.
While understandable, this concern is not prohibitive — and Mr. Biden’s word is insufficient to dispel the cloud. Any inventory should be strictly limited to information about Ms. Reade and conducted by an unbiased, apolitical panel, put together by the D.N.C. and chosen to foster as much trust in its findings as possible. Admittedly, this would be a major undertaking. Mr. Biden served 36 years in the Senate. He turned over nearly 2,000 boxes and more than 400 gigabytes of data to the University of Delaware; most of it has not been cataloged. But the question at hand is no less than Mr. Biden’s fitness for the presidency. No relevant memo should be left unexamined.

And, I hear that the Trump Campaign is going to be focusing their attack on Biden being hypocritical.

To me, this seem to imply they are saying this:

"Oh, you get all upset about Trump treating women bad, but you don't care if Biden is the same way?"

which, on the very face of it is a repulsive argument to make. It's an attempt to lower the bar and get it officially declared that our leader's can be horrible, and to say otherwise is being just as horrible.

If this issue gains traction, Trump has a lot to lose in comparing the candidates' responses to the accusations.

Biden issued a complete denial that did not attack or attempt to defame the accuser. Trump's response to accusations has been character assassination, insistence that the accuser was (to paraphrase) too ugly to assault, and lawyerly insistence on NDAs.

You are right, of course.

Still - there is a part of me that wanted Biden to reply, at the end of a legitimate denial : "besides, she's not my type.".... and then add a few lines down (for effect), "I am being sarcastic, but want to point out that would have been the majority of Trump's defense in a matter like this.",

etc, etc... but I'm being stupid and childish and without much thought on that, and not serious really in that I wanted him to reply with that... but, somehow - I wish that point could be driven home... that the accuser was (to paraphrase) too ugly to assault is such a non-denial - and even a complete confession really...

ugh.
In my head, Trump wrote:Like that's the type of woman I would rape... please...

So overnight a producer from ABC @SashaPezenik tweeted out several tweets about a story going around that another accuser came forward as told to Dan Abram's blog Law and Crime. Apparently the niece of Christine "I'm not a witch" O'Donnell claims Biden made comments about her breasts at an event in 2008. Complete with several witnesses backing the account *including O'Donnell'* based on the screen caps below. However, Pezenik revealed in later tweets...that Biden wasn't there recovering from sinus surgery. Pezenik silently deleted the thread but like Pepperidge Farms twitter remembers. So we have a false accusation and a media oops all at once. It seems like there are a lot of bad actors out there and the media is going to try to run out every story even if they make mistakes here and there.

There is going to be so much of this between here and November.

Republicans just need a story to hold together long enough for them to schedule hearings.

I absolutely get what you’re saying, but that’s a bad analogy, in that nothing here is or will resemble that parable.

There is no actual care for the sheep.

They keep a wolf in their own home and don’t care that he eats sheep every day.

But maybe you are right.

For those that worry about sheep and wolves, at some point they should see this for what it is.

Ha ha but no.

They'll be tossing out all kinds of hints or fake evidence of scandals. It's crucial to make "Crooked Joe Biden" a thing because it inoculates Trump against all the evidence of his own real crimes.

The idea is to pull Joe down and eliminate his advantages. I've been saying it for awhile. This is going to be the worst election you've ever seen. NY Times and MSNBC have latched onto this shit already. I don't think it'll be too long before more realize 'But her emails' wasn't some one off anomaly.

Update: More evidence has come out that he wasn't there - but the accuser is standing by her story. This is ugly stuff folks.

I dropped this into Pics/Vids thread but very effective ad style message. I can't help but think that the Biden campaign should hire Rick Wilson or some of the Lincoln Project folks (if they were willing obviously). The trouble is the progressives would lose their minds.

I think it's better for everyone if they remain independent. As soon as they sign on with the Biden campaign both progressives lose their minds (Bernie folks say "see? I told you he's a crypto-Republican") *and* the Lincoln Project lose some of their "stewards of the true Republican flame" appeal.

Fair - unofficial advisors or coordination maybe is a better soft sell but Biden needs to appeal to the broadest possible coalition and undermine Trump where possible. No one should hold back on anything. We're that close to the abyss here. Trump is openly consolidating power.

I agree, I just suspect (speaking as an official internet campaign expert) that in this case everyone's more effective separate. The value of Lincoln Project and their band of Never Trumpers is to take shots at Trump from a conservative angle to appeal to potential disaffected Republicans. Their value goes down the more they get associated with Democrats.

I saw commentary today to the effect that Trump's superpower has always been his ability to change the subject. Half of his offensive behavior is dedicated to shifting attention to itself away from some other story.

This new crisis is so much larger than him, however, that this will be more and more impossible.

Coronavirus is immune to Trump.
