When I lived in New Orleans there was this one section of town that frequently reported gas leaks.
Turns out there was a factory there that made the smell they put in natural gas and it was leaking.

Pro Homeowner Tip: If you smells gas, call your plumber, not the gas company. Friday afternoon my wife said she smelled gas after the HVAC guy came to add coolant to our system that has been leaking for years (only $8k to replace it!). I didn't smell up, but that's not a shock as I barely smell anything with my allergies. She called the gas company, they used their sniffer and said yup, has leak, turned off our gas, told us to call a plumber and left. This was at 4pm on Friday. It was 39 degrees overnight. Luckily our house is really well insulated and it only got down to around 60 inside.
Saturday we got the plumber out and he only saw leakage at like 35+ psi, which is not the kind of pressure you see coming into the system so not really a problem. City offices are closed/emergency only but I guess not being able to heat our home, cook our food or heat our water counts so the plumber is working on a permit to reseal a few connections to satisfy the gas company and maybe, just maybe I will be able to take a hot shower by end of day today.
Basically we are going to be about $1k out of pocket because my wife has a sensitive nose. Better safe than sorry, I guess?
It's a good idea to know where the gas shut off valve is for your house so you can self manage. Same with water of course.

Im baking a cake. Chocolate on chocolate. Was my wife's favorite. I had to lick the bowl myself this time. The food bank had given me some cake mixes over the months and all I supplied was eggs and icing. Figured I might as well use it before they go bad. Figured even though im not a huge fan of this one ID do it in memory of my wife.
Think Ill have chilidogs today. The dogs are near date and the chili I should eat while I have a cup of milk left. Chili without milk is a no go usually. Doubt Ill see some of this food again for months in stores.
You only live once and cant take it with you.

Not a time to be licking batter that contains raw eggs. You don't want to have to go to the hospital due to food poisoning right now.

Still, given his posted eating habits, I'd bet that would be the least of his worries if you were to observe him for a day.

50 years old and I never knew this about my own area. Ive been to this cemetery many times as my mother and step father are buried there....doh.
The 1918 “Spanish” influenza arrived in March and fell many soldiers, citizens and staff in this area. Eighty-eight prisoners died from the disease and were buried together at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Combined with the few POWs who died while held here during World War II, the Chattanooga National Cemetery is the only cemetery on American soil which holds both World War I and World War II German soldiers. Their area is marked by a monument placed there by the German government and is decorated each year in November during National Day of Remembrance celebrated by the German nation.
https://www.courthousenews.com/monument ... -cemetery/
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (CN) – There’s little indication from looking at it that a pillar in a cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee, was erected by representatives of Nazi Germany on the eve of World War II.
It bears no swastika. Its inscription in German makes no mention of the Third Reich, a master race or even a message glorifying war, as the Nazis were known to do.
Unlike monuments to the Confederacy – many of which were erected decades after the U.S. Civil War – the Nazi German government erected the monument in Chattanooga before the world knew of concentration camps, the Holocaust, blitzkriegs and fire bombings.
Members from Nazi Germany’s diplomatic mission to the United States quietly installed the pillar in 1935 to memorialize German prisoners of war who died in America during World War I.
It stands in the Chattanooga National Cemetery among the graves of the German POWs, on the side of a hill surrounded by rows of white tombstones for American veterans.

I think my blood pressure medicine has started making me seriously have to go pee a LOT. But Ive been forgetting to take them a lot over the last month or two. Many years ago...10-12 or whenever.....when I first started having to take BP meds I remembered them or my wife remembered for me. Then I quit taking them for years and found I didn't even need them. But when I lost Lil'D my BP shot sky high .Higher than before. Also I couldn't have my kidney surgery with it that high so restarted the BP meds. All last year I remembered perfectly. But this year ..this month...I keep forgetting a day here 3 days there. I notice late like 10 pm usually. I cant take them that late or Im up all night pissing. Years ago that didn't happen. Even last year I didn't notice it. Maybe its because Im missing days here and there and the fluid builds up. But wow man o man do I have to go piss after taking it now. Like every hour or so I feel like Ill bust and go pee a large amount.
Im old. Guess Im dying faster.

I've been a loner all my life.
Now I realize that I have just been self isolating all that time.
So if anybody needs help in that area just ask me about it.

I guess it is impossible for her to believe.

I think my blood pressure medicine has started making me seriously have to go pee a LOT.
What makes you pee is a diuretic, basically makes you shed water by making your kidneys dump more sodium into your urine, which sorta of decreases the amount of blood, thus lowering blood pressure. I'd just google all of your drugs and check which one's a diuretic... AND check your blood pressure level to see if your BP medicine needs tweaking.
If you're NOT taking a diuretic, talk to your doctor soonest. Could be a different problem.

I just switched from amlodipine to valsartan-hct last week, due to side-effects from amlodipine. The valsartan-hct includes a diuretic, which is why my pharmacist recommended taking it in the morning rather than the evening. As a bonus, the valsartin-hct seems to be noticeably more effective at lowering my BP. My systolic/diastolic pressures have dropped roughly an additional 10/5 mmHg since making the switch, which makes the difference between occasionally being in the normal range to always being there.
I tend to be absent-minded about everything, so I just set a daily alarm on my phone to remind me to take the medication at the same time every day.

Oh I know one is a water pill. Its the HCTZ. The Lisinopril is the BP one. I take them separately. Usually they come as one pill. My wife took Losartan HCTZ.
I thought they stopped the sartan pills of all types due to the carcinogen in them?

The specific generic I'm taking (Sandoz Valsartan/HCT) was
never recalled in the first place.
Sandoz Canada is recalling batches of Sandoz Valsartan Film-coated tablets at the pharmacist and wholesaler levels. Please note that the recall does not affect Sandoz Valsartan HCT in Canada or any Novartis Pharmaceuticals (Novartis) products containing valsartan, namely Diovan®, Diovan/HCT® and Entresto®. A different API source is used for the above products.
This decision was made in collaboration with Health Canada following the discovery of a substance in the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). Sandoz is committed to ensuring that all our marketed products meet the highest quality standards and therefore has decided to proceed with the recall in collaboration with Health Canada.
As I recall (
Ha!), the recalled products were outsourced to manufacturers in India and China. I'd surmise that Sandoz Valsartan/HCT is rolling off the same production line as the Novartis-branded drugs that were also not affected by the recall. It's essentially identical to Novartis Diovan/HCT, but is cheaper and is sold in bulk rather than boxed blister packs.

Sandoz had a manufacturing facility in a business park a few blocks from our house. They moved out last year, and a CBD manufacturer moved in

I do appreciate these Rube Goldberg videos when they're done in a single take (no cuts).

85 here...well will be..its like 78 now.....I have a fan on me while I cool off from mowing. I only got half done so far. My back is killing me, my legs fail me, and I got this weird nausea feeling come on me. But gotta go finish up. Fun days.
EDIT: Almost done mowing. Then I have all the weedeating to do and ditches. Feel like Ill pass out lol. Im sweating and dizzy'ish now. Its taken me two hours for this part. And the mower is a self propelled push mower. My back is killing me! Years and years ago when I was young I would actually use a simple push mower and be done with the entire yard weedeating and all in two hours. As I mow Im looking at wondering how the hell I did that.
At least supposedly Im getting in better shape if it doesn't kill me.

Well that took me almost 5 hours to do the yard..yeesh. When I was younger I could be done in 2 hours...2 1/2 at the most...and I pushed the mower myself back then...getting old sucks. And it was only like 75 degrees when I started. Ive mowed in 102 degrees in the past. You know..back before I was a sickly old man.
Stepped on and cut 3 fire ant hills....tossed some poison on those..they just poured out when I hit them.

They have talked a lot about how much land we lose if all the ice on Earth melts. its happened in the past before. But they also show old cities and villages underwater now near the modern shore line. SO Im wonder just how much more shoreline we had back when ice was a mile deep in NYC and all of Canada. In the great iceages we must have had a lot more land mass right? ...well what wasn't covered in ice

As I push 50 this is first I ever heard of this
https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/hou ... th-bleach/
Everyone who has ever had me clean a thing with bleach, myself included, were wrong. Everyone. Every. One.
By using hot water instead of cold/tepid water to create a solution, you can render the active ingredients in bleach ineffective, making it totally useless.
So for bleach that works, always make sure you dilute it in cold/tepid water.
Smoove, you have failed to reach me again.
