When filling in passwords on my pc I always get little dots instead of the alpha/numerical digits.
Is there an easy way for me to see the numbers and letters instead?
It depends on the site. Some have something that looks like an eyeball with a line through it on the end of the password line. Toggling that will change the password from displaying between dots and actual characters. Sometimes it also says "show" near the eyeball icon. Other sites, though, you're just stuck with the dots.

Depends on what you’re putting your password into, but more and more places have an eyeball icon on the right side of the entry area that makes the characters visible.

Locally, a 19 year old was operating a road paver and get off while it was still moving tripped and fell in front of it.

For reference, this is a construction vehicle that weighs approximately 30,000 lbs. It's the self-mobile version of "Bessie" from Cars.
That's horrific.

So I just discovered a "bubbling spring" of water coming out of the driveway at work. We've had a "wet corner" down there for as long as I could recall and I never really paid it much attention - but today it struck me as really odd since we've been dry for days with no rain. The ground around there is soggy and wet, and there's an actual hole in the pavement with water running out in a tiny river. I walked the perimeter of the property and couldn't find any source of water coming in that would account for all the water flowing out down there.
As soon as I bring this little red flag up, another co-worker mentions that "Hey, we did have a real bad ice problem all winter there. It was constantly forming blockages at the bottom of the hill and we had to break them up a few times" ... so now the thought is that whatever water has been flowing under the property has been doing so for months. No one really paid attention because we've had snow melts, ice, and rain - but it doesn't make sense for there to be this much water (and bubbling out of the pavement) without any of those things.
How screwed are we likely to be here? Are we in for a sinkhole level of fun right in front of the building?

Dont know but if its a pipe and its yours then you could be paying a lot more for water than you should.

I checked with the boss and he says their water bill isn't crazy. Under $100 for the building... Sooooo... ? Hm.

We have a wet water spring. It can run for a week or not at all after a rain. But like you said no rain in a while.

A few miles away there has been a guy threatening suicide on a bridge over the interstate for almost 8 hours now. There have been a lot of accidents because of this and traffic is backed up 20 miles.
I'm not sure but I think I can hear a faint chant of........jump,jump,jump,jump.

One interesting side effect of all this virus and quarantine craziness is the utterly batshit insane dreams I'm having on a nightly basis now. They involve casts of thousands, bringing every random person, place, and experience I've had in my life together into situations that make absolutely no sense at all. They do all seem to have a central theme of me being somewhere I'm not supposed to be, so my subconscious is apparently working overtime on that train of thought right now.
I would love to just get a good night of sleep without waking up thinking "WTF was that?!"
The widespread lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic seems to be having an effect on some people's dreams.
A large number of social media users are talking about having unusually vivid ones. But why is this happening and what can you do to make your sleep more peaceful?

Not bothered me any. But last night I had a dream I was in the car with Biden. Somehow I was part of his family friends or something. Joe was driving some kinda old big car like a Crown Vic. He backed that sucker into a parking spot at the local voting place. We went in and got us some donuts and coffee. The press was there and among them Matt Lauer somehow. I even choose his slogan ....it was Ride'n with Biden.
I have no idea what I had before bed but if I figure it out Im not sure to avoid it or to do it again so I can see how the election goes.

We had a dishwasher scare. There was several inches of water in it. Oh Noes! Bailed the water, checked the filter, checked the drainage hose, both clear. reset the cycle and ran it again, it sorted out. So we must have just interrupted it and got the drain closed off early in the cycle. Thank goodness.

Somewhere in the last 20 years my eyes have gotten so bad a lot of TV seems to have become just black or something I can actually see. I think that has fed my lifelong joy of watching cartoons, whose vivid colors never suffer from this.
So, TiVo grabbed the three Nolan Batman movies sometime ago and I re-watched them over the last few nights. The first movie from 2005, as dark as the setting was, I had no problems with seeing the film. The second movie from 2008, the problem was mild and not a distraction. The third movie, from 2012, 2/3rds of the movie wasn't visible to me. Batman and Kyle fighting in the subway looked a lot like this:

I see them fine...you guys do too right?
I stopped paying for 3D movies at the theater because they were too dark. Im told its because on 3D the projectionist is supposed to brighten the bulb but they dont because they are expensive and making them burn brighter wears them out faster.

A group of my metalhead friends have an ongoing scavenger hunt to find the stupidest band name. We have a text group going with entries every now and again. Came across a good one this morning, so I sent the following message:
Blasphamagoatachrist. Good band name, or best band name ever?
Realized just after hitting "send" that I mistakenly sent that out to my family text group which includes my mom, two sister-in-laws, and two cousins...all of whom are extremely religious (Mormon).
Those damage control calls are going to be fun this afternoon.

I'm on day 3 of a project from on high called "Build the Intranet".
Day 1 was spent collating content ideas from various websites and pitching it to the ownerhip team.
Day 2 was spent getting the Apache server running on a server in-house and publishing a basic WordPress site and spending the afternoon explaining this to the Director of Operations, who I expected to collaborate with successfully. We had a good brainstorming session and came up with some good ideas.
Day 3 started with hunting for good Intranet themes to turn the WordPress blog format into a slick Intranet page, but devolved into a shit-show when the worst micromanager in the ownership team stepped in and said it needed to be made to her standards, which caused the Director of Operations to bow out (she has no ownership stake in this yet) and left me holding an Intranet site that will likely never, ever see the light of day now. She's fond of saying she wants things "on brand" but can't exactly tell you what that means except that you've got it wrong. She wants things "just so" but that's not it, no not that, no not that either. I expect that in the next couple of days I'll want to put in my resignation, but can't afford to.
I can't just build "The Intranet" without knowing what the company leaders want, and each step I'm going to take now is going to be the wrong one at least twice before it's right. My only hope is that she gets so fed up with the process of design and deploy that she walks away - but she has nothing else to do right now.

I was looking at water enhancers as a way to cut back on my diet coke habit. I used to do a bit of Crystal Light, and I'm trying MIO, which is not bad. Looked at one of the articles online one of those "eat this not that" articles, and it turned out to be pure BS.
Basically, the article claimed that MIO and other similar stuff includes "anti-freeze". This is the type of crap that "Food Babe" used to peddle, calling out food additives that also have other uses and claimed it's somehow bad. Remember "yoga mat" thing? Sure, propylene glycol is sometimes used as antifreeze as the "pet-safe" version. Ethylene glycol is dangerous as it tastes sweet and is poisonous, but that's not here. propylene glycol has been in use in food as generally considered harmless for decades. What did the article recommend? Expensive stevia and natural fruit flavored stuff, of course.

Get the technical implementation done, hand her the keys for the visual layout and design, and wash your hands of it. You’re a tech worker, not a marketer or web designer.
If it’s not a technical issue, it’s not your issue.
The tech version of work-to-rule is code-to-spec. No specs, no code.

I would say that while she's a smart enough person, WordPress is arcane enough that she won't want to deal with it and will simply direct me to do it. In small businesses, people tend to wear multiple hats. I was interested in rolling this project onto my resume as a little sideline until she tagged along.

Ask her to nominate a web designer to work with you, as you are not a front-end person and you don't have time to wait for her to play 20 questions, in polite terms, of course.
(In the meanwhile, may want to invest a little time looking into Bootstrtap 4, which produces a slick if generic websites much faster than you'd expect)

I was looking at water enhancers as a way to cut back on my diet coke habit.
I went to coffee and never turned back. Way back when I lost 30 pounds fast. I have since put it back on plus lots more.
I have also increased my water intake huge as I try not to drink coffee too much after noon and not at all after 15:00. I've gotten used to drinking a lot of water again and even crave it.
I don't know what works for you but losing the flavor of a beverage wasn't too difficult for me and I usually have a very hard time changing habits. I'm over three years without a cigarette and not smoking is still a struggle. Exercize is something I still haven't been able to make a habit for. If I have a snack in my possession, it gets eaten. Coke is still something I love and it's sheer pleasure when I get one a restaurant or with carry out but I simply don't buy it. I can go six months without and not miss it... as long as I can grab water easy enough and have coffee morning... Take away coffee or water's easy access and I could revert quickly.

Replacing Diet Coke with with another artificially sweetened beverage is a lot like Marlboro Lights with Winston Lights. My layman's understanding is that the artificial sweeteners are counter-productive to weight loss because they keep alive the sweet tooth and trick the body into craving more food because it senses sweetness and is looking for the calories to go with it.
Speaking as someone who ditched sweetened beverages (ice) cold turkey in favor of water, I didn't find it nearly as hard as I expected it to be. If you absolutely must have some kind of flavor, you can always brew iced tea and avoid adding sweeteners.

I was hoping the Director of Ops could be that person-ish. We're pretty understaffed now thanks to COVID-19, and even when we had everyone around there's no one in the company with a lot of technical knowledge aside from me - and they're certainly not paying for an Intranet site to be developed.
I dislike her enough that it literally makes me emotionally uncomfortable to work in proximity to her - and I pride myself on being able to get along and work with just about anyone.
I have sent her the login info for the site's admin section, but I'm not hopeful she'll run with it.
