I don't hate foreigners. I just want the best ones for America to come here.
The majority of the graduate students at my university are international students. Traditionally, students pursuing Masters degrees are a huge revenue generator for us because they generally don’t get tuition remission or scholarships. We had a faculty meeting yesterday where it was announced that we’re experiencing an emerging budget crises because international applications are down 30%. The administration fears this trend will only get worse and has decided it can’t risk losing this revenue stream. So what they’ve chosen to do is drop admission standards for international students to keep enrollment steady. That’s right, we’re getting foreigners with less merit than before.

It seems that most Republicans these days have had their compassion and empathy surgically removed. It makes life easier for them.
The sad part is that the justification is usually that we shouldn’t help those from other countries because we already have so many US citizens who are suffering. In the same breath, conservatives support pulling any and all support from those same people they are professing to care so much about.
All stems from the “I got mine, so fuck you” mentality. And if “they” (the poor, the brown, the immigrant, all of the above) suffer, then that apparently makes it even better.

Don't be silly, xenophobic nationalism Crosses all economic and and educational levels. Just look at the Whitehouse. And well, history in general.

The user that made the changes to the Wikipedia page now shows as blocked by admins (yes, I was curious, I actually checked the history of changes on that page )
