My mom proudly told me the other day that she was going to pay attention to politics this election cycle and watch the full RNC and DNC conventions, and look at both sides rather than just default to voting R like she usually does.

While that gave me hope, it still boggles my mind that she'd need to watch anything to figure out who to vote for. She has two granddaughters. Hmmm, which person do I vote for? The guy that was found liable for sexual assault and paid off a porn star while cheating on his wife, or the woman who wants to protect women's rights? Hmmm.... should I vote for the guy whose policies would have killed my daughter-in-law and prevented 2 of my 3 grandchildren from being born, or the other person? I mean Trump is a really bad person, but you know, Bible. Decisions, decisions!

It is not clear why the account was suspended, but it appeared to have been restored as of the early hours of Tuesday. The automated message when the account was suspended read: "X suspends accounts which violate the X rules."

Mike Nellis, who is involved in the organization, shared an update on Tuesday explaining that while the X account is live again, it still remains suspended.

He said the account is "permanently in read-only mode," meaning it cannot post or interact with content and cannot create new accounts. Nellis called on supporters to continue donating to Harris' campaign, writing: "Don't let them silence us."

When contacted by Newsweek for comment, X's press office responded: "Busy now, please check back later."
Other links reports similar results. All are a few hours old. You could find more livish results but they'd like by Xhitter results and I won't use or link to them.

That's all I'm getting at. Well. Wait - I guess you mean 'the obvious', but... I mean, generally when an account is suspended (I would think) that there is some post or action that X will say violated something. Even if it's meritless.

Cause, if it's just 'taken down' without even as much as lip service to it being for some reason - that would be (at least to me, but I'm probably wrong) a new level, right?

Definitely a higher level. I wouldn't say it's a new level. They may retcon some TOS violation but this was done by whim.

Harris says she'll hold her first rally with her VP pick next Tuesday. The campaign says not to read too much into the location, which is Philadelphia.

So don't they have to solidify the ticket with a virtual meeting before the Ohio deadline? IMO that will give Harris a bump in addition to the convention. Stupid Ohio may actually assist Harris.

Good question. She did just become the only eligible candidate for nomination-

So my understanding of the whole Ohio virtual meeting thing is that Ohio's deadline for certifying candidates is often before the national convention(s) of one or both major parties (when the candidates are formally chosen). Ohio regularly pushes that back in order to accommodate the convention dates. This year Ohio's GOP government was making some noise that it might not do that, which could have made Biden / Harris ineligible to be on the ballot in Ohio. At that point the Democrats planned a "virtual meeting" and vote to take place before the deadline. Ohio then relented and pushed back the deadline as normal.

In the weeks after the disastrous presidential debate Democrats were still planning on going ahead with the virtual vote. The Biden's campaign's statement was that this was "just in case" Ohio did some shenanigans, though others suspected that it was an effort to get Biden locked in as the nominee. Obviously Biden has since dropped out.

I don't know what the current plans are, but they do not have to have the virtual meeting at this point.

I would like to see her put some real effort into Florida. Biden only lost Florida in 20 by roughly 3%. He won all of the major counties, but in typical fashion lost all of the less populated ones. If she could just swing about 200,000 votes she could win the state. 200K might sound like a lot but there were about 11 million total votes cast in 2020.

And a few hours after his unhinged interview:

Kamala Harris in Houston addresses Trump's bonkers appearance at the NABJ: "The divisiveness and the disrespect. And let me just say. The American people deserve better ... a leader who does not respond with hostility and anger when confronted with the facts."
It's excellent that she's out and visible and able to respond so quickly.

The Democrats have been futilely dreaming of Florida for years. They lost the Cuban vote when they opened up things a bit with respect to Cuba. This state is, at least for now, a hopeless cause, resources are better spent in the states they absolutely have to have. The same goes for my home state, NC.

Her campaign is super sharp. Every time Trump stumbles there's a full-page letter about it, and she's talking about it on a stage somewhere. Unlike Biden's defensive posture, she's on the attack at every opportunity, and it is a glorious thing to behold. No wonder he is completely befuddled as to how to handle her. Biden was a punching bag, and now he's in the ring with a heavyweight.

She's got him rocked back on his heels now; as Buttigieg pointed out, Trump can't handle pressure and will get increasingly weirder and more outrageous the longer the momentum is with Harris. And the crazier he gets, the more punches she can land.
