He could have LM rename it. But I'm not sure something like "17th century miniature schnauzers told me the gold standard was dead" would be any better...

I went into a coin shop for the purposes of browsing for future purchase and came out with a 2021 Carson city silver dollar by the US mint. A very nice 1832 silver dime was on markdown, as well as a Chicago worlds fair commemorative coin by the US mint. On the way out I also got a silver coin from the Abbasid period.

Ahh well merry Christmas me!

Those will come in handy if you have to melt them down for ammo against werewolves.

Also Harrys Coins seems to be one of the better shops in the area.

My dad was a numismatic. He used to buy these $50 bags of pennies from the bank and examine each and every one. Visited the coin shows too. When he died we sold it for over $6000.
Enough to pay off the doctors for fixing my broken leg.

I think I still have some silver coins I picked out my change back in the 70s when you could still find silver quarters and even a rare mercury head dime somehow still circulating then. Might even have a theoretically gold backed paper dollar or two somewhere. No idea where they are at.

I think you can still make a profit from silver coins (the none collectable kind) you just have to melt it down.

My grandfather was a coin collector, and when my parents passed away I found out that my father had all of the coins. I have absolutely no idea what they are worth, but I just assume that a coin dealer will rip me off so I haven't done anything with them. I'll need to figure it out at some point.

I regret not buying a bunch of these when I could, just for the coolness of having some shipwreck silver.

You don't "do" anything to collectable coins. To do so decreases their value.


There used to be three books for coin collectors. One told their value if you sold them . One told their value if you bought them and one that told their value if a coin dealer bought them.

I'm not full on down the rabbit hole collecting like I could be... Although this is one of the more benign terrible habits to have. Definitely worse ways to spend your cash for sure.

Plus if you bury your stash in a field it's really going to confuse archeologists some thousand years in the future.

I collect notes but I do have a some coins. I'm a sucker for silver and have some Morgans but mostly eagles.

Also. Lucky duck me. I just found out one of the silver dollars I bought 15 years ago because I suspected there was a minting error, in fact, has a minting error. I also found a silver dime in the till, twice!

So that coin is probably worth one hour of your double overtime.

No I suspect the dollar is worth somewhere around 60 for its good condition plus the error. So I make 16.50 so double that is 33 dollars an hour. It'd take me two hours (minus about six or seven min to buy this coin.

Plus I now stop in on one if my days off to do store projects and put in 5-6 hours.

The 7-11 is my home now.

I can't believe how long it took me to pull my head out of my ass and just take a job that I thought I could do. This "struggle job" turned into something that turned percieved weaknesses into strengths. And its the most fun fulfilling job I've had in my life.

Normally speaking sometimes I can be extremely negative and I have the bad habit of turning people off that way. In this job I ooze positivity and level headedness. I don't get involved in office gossip and I come in ready to do what I'm asked directly.

I am not a senior cashier (although all I need to do is a webinar and take an easy test to qualify)

I've been asked to move towards taking an asst mgr role but I see how it burns ppl out so I turned it down. I think I'm going to have to take it soon so I can fix the gaping wounds the store has suffered b/c of ppl leaving.

As it is I am extremely well respected by my co workers and my mgrs. I avoid all the traps and pratfalls that catch younger workers and I've developed a sort of "moral authority" that sends my co workers or mgrs or even district
mgr to scurry and get me what I need when I ask.

In short I dake it till I make it. Sometimes I still have issues but I work on them every day.

Also all you can eat overtime feeds a raging coin habit. I figure coins are an extremely expensive habit, but I now know about the proper care and feeding of coins. I dare say that I know enough about coins to at least select things that will hold value and be sellable with a minimum of loss.

So instead of being addicted to food or alchohol or pot, my thing is coins. I know my limits though and I don't spend money I don't have. I axed the CC a year ago. If I want a thing I ask for overtime and I earn and pay cash.
