I remember having chicken pox. I was maybe 6? I clearly remember hallucinating, and I remember having oven mitts on my hands to prevent scratching.

Both of them are also directed by Uwe Boll. How does one terrible movie manage to get two sequels, let alone one? Part of me is almost curious enough to torture myself by watching to see how bad they all are.
According to Wikipedia, he bankrolls his own movies or use crowdfunding platforms, and the fact that the German government had a film subsidy that pays like 50% of the movie, up to about 12 years ago, IIRC.
I must be a glutton for punishment, because I decided to make this a Uwe Boll weekend and watched all 3 of the movies. And I thought it'd be fun to talk about them.

First off, I'll start with the sequels. Right off the bat, the premises in these movies feel like they've either been come up via mad libs or plot generators.

In the first sequel, The Two Worlds, an ex-special forces soldier played by Dolf Lundgren is sent back to medieval times to fight dark forces. And a dragon makes a makes a brief appearance breathing fire, because you gotta have dragons I guess :D The plot didn't even try to make any sense, and you can tell the actors are confused by what they're saying. There's also an off-hand reference to the first movie as having taken place in the same world, ie farmers fighting evil.

In the second sequel, Mark of the Dragon, a hitman played by Dominic Purcell is pulled into medieval times to fight evil and a dragon shows up, this time hanging around for a longer period of time and even going through a portal to modern times, and this was the better of the two sequels. Not by much, mind you, but the budget was higher than Two Worlds and armor was actually worn in this one. And I feel that Purcell shows more acting range than Lundgren, which makes it more watchable. So, I was surprised to find this one actually halfway decent.

Which leads me to the first movie. I was surprised by how enjoyable it ended up being. It was much better than I'd remembered it being. Statham and Perlman deliver some charm as farmer friends off on a mission. It's not high-art by any means, but the two sequels does make it feel like it has redeeming features. Burt Reynolds looks utterly bored throughout and Ray Liotta still feels horribly miscast as an evil wizard, but it's campy fun.

What Is a 'Thirst Trap'?
“Look at me!” is the most basic definition of another thirst derivative on social media: the thirst trap. A refined twist on selfie culture, a thirst trap is often a photo used to entice a response, usually in the form of praise, compliments, or more explicit expressions of ardent desire. It was first defined in Urban Dictionary in 2011, with the following sober definition:
any statement or picture used to intentionally create attention or “thirst”

I had never heard it before.

Google tells me...
A thirst trap is type of social media post that is intended to entice viewers sexually. It refers to a user's "thirst", a colloquialism that likens sexual frustration to dehydration, implying desperation.

I HATE KUDZU!! It would be 50% easier without all those vine in the brush. I only get so much done before my back and my forearms give out. They look like Popeye's forearms all swollen and tight. And Im speared and jabbed by branches. Sometimes Ill cut one and pull and it will just come out and I toss it. Another time Ill pull with all my weight on it and it wont let go and I end up having to take the hookbills and cut cut cut the vines. But of course theres always the one that wont budge until you pull really hard then it lets go and you stab yourself with the branch. I cleaned an area the size of a large old car and I cant move my forearms and my back is screaming. Now I need a bath again. All the shit I did last year has also filled up with kudzu again. Its hopeless.

I love it when someone argues that the database is wrong.

I can see that you made a change the day after the error. I have a log of you making the change. Right there. See? Please don't argue that the change was there before the error happened.

Still insisting it was? Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. Please let me know if you see a trend of these errors. We'll get to the bottom of it if we can build a pattern. We both know a pattern won't emerge, though.

I got to watch a live taping of the podcast Sports? with Katie Nolan last night. It was done in webinar format, so they couldn't see us watching or interact with us. Katie doesn't use Discord, but set up a channel for us to chat to each other while watching. I made the mistake of joining the channel before muting it - 550 people joining and posting simultaneously makes a lot of dings! Travis and Ashely were there and Austin and Myrtle made appearances. It was fun to watch and see what it looks like during the singing ad reads. The podcast is moving to 2 days a week, so I'm hoping they do more of these. The allegedly one hour podcast ended at 2:26 and I stayed up until 10:30 to see the whole thing. If you're a fan, I'd recommend signing up if they ever do another one.

Dunkin' is adding its first-ever spicy donut, and it's spooky too.

The Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut is described as a "deliciously daring donut." It's baked with a classic yeast dough and topped with strawberry icing that's mixed with a blend of cayenne and ghost pepper, one of the hottest chili peppers in the world. Dunkin (DNKN)' is offering the donut beginning Wednesday through December across its US restaurants.

The area I cleaned last year looked nice. Now its full of vines again. I cut the stuff at head height when i couldn't pull it out of the trees. The shit from the ground reached up over this year and climbed them all again. I trip on the vines in the yard. Its like steel cable. It lays right against the ground and only leaves bloom out near the ends so I dont see it. It really does grow like a foot a day.

I had a customer call once looking for her package. Sure no problem, I have the tracking number. And then a status I never seen before on the UPS tracking site. Train Crash. wtf!? Quick check of google and I tell the customer, "So, have you seen the news about the freight train that derailed outside of (customers home town)?" The customer is like oh yeah that sounds terrible, ...oh...no... And I said "Oh.. yeah," "so I am just going to look up real quick the UPS policy on package destroyed in transit. Just in case you need it later."

I got a call this morning early then this evening from the same number. No idea who it is as I dont answer calls and they didn't leave a msg either time. Also if I look online it has no info. When I cant instantly find the number online I know its a shit place. But that was a first to have 2 calls in the same day. If its important they'll leave a msg.

Ages ago we were thinking about renovations and went to a home show, where I was kinda strong-armed into giving Kitchen Magic my phone number in exchange for a substantial show discount if we should hire them. Twice a day, every day, since then their computer has called my phone, which auto-rejects the calls. The thought of these two computers locked in this eternal dance amuses me.

Oh: and because of the robocalls, there is no way I would ever hire Kitchen Magic if we ever do a kitchen makeover.

A couple of years ago I picked up a soldering iron. The intention was to learn to solder in order to add LEDs to miniatures as I see done from time to time. Everything I'd heard or read talked about how easy it was to do. So I sat down this week to learn, and *BAM*, brick wall. :grund: It's my old nemesis, math. Apparently there is a lot of math involved in hooking a battery to an LED, and I have a complete mental block when it comes to math.

I don't know if I have an actual learning problem (like dyscalculia) or if it is just a mental block from years of frustration brought on by a series of terrible teachers, but I've never been able to do higher math. I have a 142 IQ and I failed algebra three times (and never did pass it.) I do know that I have a lot of trouble with the abstraction of higher math (I can't relate the formulas to actual things, which prevents me from visualizing how it works, and I learn by visualizing.) It's like someone just switched the audio language of the movie I'm watching, and played it backward at that. When math is being described, it just makes no sense to me whatsoever.

It's frustrating. I've had to walk away from a number of things over the years because I'd suddenly find math where I didn't expect it. And now I'm getting it again.

If there's just one thing I want to accomplish before I die, it's not throwing out the damn packaging before I realize I need to review the directions printed on the outside.

Tangentially, I'll never understand the appeal of buffalo sauce/flavour. I didn't encounter it early in life because I used to avoid spicy foods, so I never really developed an appreciation for its base, Louisiana-style pepper hot sauce. But to me, buffalo sauce just tastes like spicy vomit. And I don't mean that in the sense, "it's gross". It literally reminds me of puke. I presume it's the acidity. I admit it's sometimes not a bad on wings, but "buffalo flavour everything else" just turns me off. This despite enjoying most of the other ingredients.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg
