I read something just the other day about how weird and creepy Cerebus became later in the run.

The creator eventually just started using the character as a mouthpiece for misogynist complaints that developed into what he seemed to believe was a new religious revelation (one associating everything evil with women or homosexuals and everything good with bitter dudes who draw cartoon aardvarks).

None of this was parody, and he became increasingly alienated and isolated from his friends and the comics industry.

While it wouldn't surprise me if Wolff was just trying to dodge the question, I'm not sure what that London video "proves". Having worked in video production, there's lots of things that could potentially end up going sideways during an interview. What people in the control booth hear has nothing to do with what the subject may or may not be hearing through their earpiece.

That said, the fact that he waits until the host stops talking to say "I can't hear you" is a pretty good indicator that he's full of shit.

I don't trust Wolff all that far, but isn't it possible that he could have heard that someone was speaking but not be able to make it out? That would explain waiting for the pause to say that he didn't get it.
