Amen. It's always struck me as a peculiar statement; potable water is supposed to be tasteless by design. Seems like it'd be more accurate to say, "I prefer to drink flavoured fluids, and dislike bland and flavourless water."

I saw a post somewhere that stated, "The flavor of water is its temperature."

I thought that was a fair assessment as temp really does make a difference (at least to me).

I can sort of relate to not liking plain water. I always prefered plain ice-cold water, but a little over a year ago I started doping it with lemon juice for it's purported effect in preventing kidney stones rather than for taste. Now that I'm used to the lemon flavor, I do find the flavor (or lack thereof) of plain water to be a little off-putting.

But I also agree that temperature is important to me. I'll take a tall glass of plain ice water over a glass of tepid lemon-water any day.

I've been putting fresh-squeezed lemon juice in my water for several years. It definitely helps me drink a lot more!

Amen! Common ground! :D

Though I probably wouldn't go so far as hate. But I generally dislike carbonation. I'll occasionally make an exception. But I'm definitely not a fan. Which is why I get tired of water. It's my primary beverage.

Indeed, I've never enjoyed carbonated water, either.

In terms of healthy flavour enhancers for non-carbonated water that aren't loaded with artificial rubbish, the variety of True Citrus Products are my personal favourites.

For a while now I've wondered just how people who fought in World War II would feel about that as a game.

I understand that having a real context for a war game creates more tension and engagement. As a player, as foolish as it may sound, in games where I'm working with historic context I try and take my troops seriously. I don't like losing any of them, and certainly wouldn't joke about it.

How far does that extend? The Civl War? The Crusades? The Romans invading Gaul? At what point does it become just a game?

Edit: For example, I feel more for my guys in XCOM than I do when playing Gettysburg, I think it's because it's a smaller group. I will still sacrifice them to reach a goal, though, if I think it's worth it.

It's probably a sliding scale with factors in proximity to someone who was there and awareness of events.

I'd think that every person who plays the game defines their own comfort level with such things. Some gamers are more into the narrative than the strategic gameplay elements, for instance.

For me, I'm affected by hearing experiences like dbt's, so my comfort level is related to how realistic it would be that a live person with direct experience would encounter such things. It's reasonable to ask why I'm not as affected by the chance of someone heavily tied to the Sons of the Revolution may encounter the same, but that has more to do with my cynicism than any particular logic.

Heck, your even asking "but where do you draw the line?" (paraphrasing) rankles that same cynicism. Certain R&P posters lean heavily into similar (implied) slipper slope argumentative tactics, and I have no time for engagement with that.

Didn't mean to rankle - I should have posted more rather than expect people to divine my point (was posting right before a meeting, so totally on me). I meant to imply with those questions that it is likely different for every person (as you point out) and someone with no experience with people of that generation (say, your typical Youtuber) is likely to have a much different perspective than you or I. Thus, I wouldn't come down too hard on them. I understand why dbt would stop following them, but I think suggesting that there is something wrong with the joking isn't fair (also, depending on the joking - I haven't seen the clip).

And I didn't mean to accuse! I get your point loudly and clearly, and agree more than I disagree. I also had less sympathy in my youth than I do now, so I don't "blame" the "kids" (the "damn kids" even!) for their lack of sensitivity, but I hold lots more sympathy for dbt's position (as I laid out). I think we're mostly in engineering-mind sympatico. I think we do have different opinions in the last clause of your last non-parenthetical: "I think suggesting that there is something wrong with the joking isn't fair," but we are both opining without having seen the evidence. If I overlay with some of the WWII-related out-of-touch behaviors I've experienced (North Americans visiting Berlin and giving Nazi salutes, for instance), it's easy for me to picture very fair criticism of inappropriate joking. You're right to imply that details are important, but I think dbt's experiences as a soldier will always generally outweigh the sympathy I give for folks whose experience is creating youtube videos.

If it's a decent quality hat, a soft-bristled clothes brush is absolutely the safest option, e.g. something like this. If not, canned air might be worth a shot, as gilraen suggested.

I have one very high quality fedora from New York and one official Indiana Jones fedora that was not cheap though. Its the Indy one thats dusty. Thought I had it put away but discovered I did not. My super nice one is boxed.

I do have an original fedora from the 1930s or 40s or so. Its VERY used and worn out. I love it. Its also smaller ..not in head size but overall size. Its wonderful too. Seen better days though.

So I went to the local Jewel store and all they had were True Lemon Lemonade varieties, which list Stevia as an ingredient.
I bought the plain lemonade 10 pack and I have to say it's pretty good. After looking at the other products they had in the same category, it appears that my issue with these types of flavor packets may not be with Stevia, but with aspartame.

Anyway, I am going to order the unsweetened packs online. I think these will do nicely. Thanks for the recommendation.

Do you remember that jingle? In the dark ages, when there was only mass-market beer, I drank Miller, Pabst, and Stroh's. After Sam Adams changed everything I never went back. But if I were shipwrecked on a desert island with a refrigerator and some crates washed up, I'd learn to like those old favorites again, grateful that this island somehow has electricity for my fridge.

Miller was only good to take fishing on a hot day in my teens.

I find myself singing the "Here’s to good friends, tonight is kinda special, the beer we’ll pour must say something more, some-how, so to-night, to-night let it be Lowenbrau"

Although in my version some of the words are hummed like Kraken's.

More like "Here’s to good friends, tonight is kinda special, the beer will pour hmmm hmm hhhmmmmm more, some-how, hm hm-hmmm, to-night let it be Lowenbrau"

Then it doesn't rhyme and I cant remember why.

In terms of healthy flavour enhancers for non-carbonated water that aren't loaded with artificial rubbish, the variety of True Citrus Products are my personal favourites.
I may have to try the unsweetened ones. I've tried other flavored packets and it's a hard no.
Stevia jacks me up for some reason.

Glad I could help.

As long as you're not after Daehawk-levels of sweetness absurdity, their lemonade and limeade drink mixes are surprisingly decent for stevia drink mixes (my favourites are the peach lemonade and black cherry limeade). But their unsweetened citrus wedges line are more likely to be what you're after.

I really enjoy their unsweetened True Grapefruit, and ordered a 500 count box of True Grapefruit from Amazon.

I actually meant to get some of the unsweetened ones today but forgot it and something else. I still cant remember what the other thing I forgot was. My dog is supposed to take notes but he cant find it either.

Ha. Just last night I caught myself singing "If you've got the time / We've got the beer, Miller Beer / humm, humm, humm-hum-hum-humhumhum / When it's time to relax / One beer stands clear (Miller Beer!) / Miller tastes too good to hurry through."
The Champagne of beers!!!
Still my preferred choice to this day.
Remember it? It's my ringtone!! Lol

It was a toss up between that and the Hamms jingle, but I never really liked Hamms all that much.
