Floridaman dies looking for lost golf ball. Unfortunately it was the wrong Floridaman.

Florida golfer found drowned after searching for lost ball
"At about 7:37 a.m., Jazmines teed off at hole number three and was last seen looking for his ball near the green. Jazmines' golf cart was parked on the cart path and his putter was found lying on the ground near the water," the sheriff's office said.
Deputies were called after Jazmines was reported missing and helped the Oldsmar Fire Department search the wooded area and the edge of the pond, the release said.

"The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office dive team responded and located Jazmines submerged in the water near his putter. He was pronounced deceased on scene," the release said.

You do get significantly more expansion and contraction while using elastic laces, which makes for a slackened fit that causes your feet to move around within the shoe. Elastic laces are all about making it quicker, easier, and more convenient to get your feet into and out of your shoes as quickly as possible. Whereas regular laces are better-suited for a more secure and supportive fit. The following video does a decent job of demonstrating and explaining the differences:

Having now watched it, I'd say that elastic laces will work just fine for me. I'm not a runner, and a triathlete's concerns are not mine. The only time I can think of that they might be an issue would be if I were going to a convention where I walk around for 10+ hours at a time, as they might increase the chances of blisters. That's three days every couple of years.

And to be honest, the extra stretch might be nice. I have hugely wide feet, and the only time I can get a truly good fit is if I go to an actual shoe store (not like Payless Shoes, but a professional store) and have them custom order for me from the factory (I've been able to afford to do this exactly once in my life.) The rest of the time I have to choose between too tight when I step down, too loose when I lift, or too long.

When I was in the hospital and barely able to walk even while using a walker, my physical therapist changed my laces to elastic ones. They're great!
It is soooooo much easier to take off or put on my shoes. I still can't walk without a walker, and certainly can't run, so I'll be using them for awhile still to come. BTW my laces curl up into a coil at the ends. They may be a slightly different make than the ones in the picture. I also don't put them into the top 2 holes.

Yep. The most strain my shoes get is on the stationary bike (and I wear an old pair - with laces - for that.) The rest of my exercise is usually barefoot or in socks. My real concern was that I wore combat boots for years and years, first by choice, later because it was part of the job. I was used to keeping a very tight fit for traction. When I switched to regular shoes, oh, 15 years ago or so, I hated the feeling that the shoe was moving around on my foot. It was years before I was willing to wear sandals for this reason. I mostly was just googling to find out whether they made the shoes feel like they were about to fall off. If you can run in them (as that video showed), the answer is no.

None of which addresses the original point of my question:

How many people googled, enough to trigger the algorithm on my search, "Do elastic shoe laces work as well as Viagra?" I'm still trying to figure out how that would work.

Less constriction, more blood flow... for ... things.

But only if you wear them in bed.

i wake up every once in a while (every few weeks?) with this mild pain-ache in a random toe. is it from exercise? onset of arthritis? gout? too-tight shoes? the bed being too small and my feet press into the baseboard for too long? trying to winnow this down will be annoying.

Come on covid checks! Just fixed my pickup truck (fuel pump in the gas tank $500) and dropped off the car to be repaired (brakes and a muffler $300).
And to top it all off I get my vaccine shot Thursday. My wife is upset as hell because she's afraid she get it then from me.

Just in case you didn't know, the two vaccines being distributed right now don't contain covid, not even a weakened version of it.

Had to go to the doc today. Been out of blood pressure meds for 2 weeks and they wouldn't refill unless I came in for bloodwork. My bp was 150/107. Feel great though.....until I fall over I suppose. Got my new meds.

But damn if I wasn't there 2 hours! I sat in the waiting room 1 1/2 hours and only 2 in front of me . More kept coming in. VERY small waiting room and it was hot. I bet COVID was everywhere. At least everyone had a mask.

In other stores most had masks but some total NO mask at all, others had their nose sticking out, and others under their chin.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Card_secu ... y_benefits
As a security measure, merchants who require the CVV2 for "card not present" transactions are required by the card issuer not to store the CVV2 once the individual transaction is authorized. This way, if a database of transactions is compromised, the CVV2 is not present and the stolen card numbers are less useful. Virtual terminals and payment gateways do not store the CVV2 code; therefore, employees and customer service representatives with access to these web-based payment interfaces, who otherwise have access to complete card numbers, expiration dates, and other information, still lack the CVV2 code.

Nothing protects us (well, other than one is never held liable for any fraudulent charge) from bad acting vendors.
So yeah, any mechanic , checkout girl, doctor’s receptionist could pretty easily go online that night and buy crap with your information.

It’s just never part of a print out or carbon copy, or stored in the register, so that’s it’s only range of protection (receipts in garbages)..... basically what Issy shares above.

But that person who collects the number from you , they are free to jot it down.
